Now that Mark has announced the 'new brass section'......this has made Level 42 even better. Love Mark King. Great musician.....

Sounds like a lovely, down-to-earth guy in the way British musicians can be, without all the bullshit. And he's considered one of the best slap-bass guitarists in the world - a big part of what made Level 42=Level 42 and their distinctive sound, along with the keyboardist Mike Lindup. I'm glad they can ride the wave of wealthier middle-aged people and their hankering for nostalgia too.

Their early albums from 1981 to 1984 are far more interesting than what they did later on in my opinion, but the later albums were more successful because they appealed to North Americans.

So modest - he's every bit as much of a legend as those he talks of with reverence.

Mark is such a down to earth guy. I could sit with him in a pub or just at home with a good glas of wine and talk about the common things in life and without mentioning his life as an artist and the band he's in.

I listened to this interview on BBC radio 2 , when my life was in a very dark place. It was a shining light. Ty Sara Cox and Mark King.

Lovely Sarah Cox, I met her whilst working, she spoke to me and asked me a question about something and looking up at her, knowing others hadn't clocked her my jaw hit the floor. I stammered out something like 'Sorry I was just a bit star struck then' and helped her. Mark King what a legend, oddly enough it was on the Isle of Wight I met Sarah Cox too!

You don't need to act someone you're not to be magnetic. People like Bowie or Alain Delon or Sting can even speak with their eyes alone... Mark King's simply a tre British down-to-earth man, yet he's magic the same way he used to be. Of course, when they're live or playing in a video or posing for pics, well, they get cooler, but this works as well with, say, The Police: Sting's a magnetic guy but he looks even cooler when he's being pictured in a photograph along with Stewart and Andy. The Police inspired my looks all my life indeed. But Level 42 are still so underrated... And I also like the fact he loves 'Holding Back the Years' because both songs (talking about 'Something About You') stem from the same period and both bands became a sensation there and then. Wish I'd followed Level 42 from the early '80s though...
