Just received this coming soon set from Klein. The 1/4" SAE Deep Well Flip Socket Set. Part 65238
In this video I share an overview of the set, along with its compatibility and usefulness... but the goal is just to make you aware that they are coming soon.

I can say they are very durable. had my whole flip sockets with shaft fall 20 plus floors to the elevator pit and i found it in good condition. I can't wait for their release I only want the sockets

I’ve heard people have issues with the magnets.. but not the shafts and sockets. Mine have held up pretty well

Another great product from Klein but a greater example/review of the usefulness of the Set. Your explanations/reviews of products make me realize i can't live without them. 😂😂 I don't see why you don't have manufacturers lined up for you to review there tools. With the way you give examples of how we use them. PS. Robot Tech

I’m always looking at tools in ways to use them in ways that might not be “normal” or the “planned” use. You never know what situations you will run into, but the more ideas for ways you can use tools the more prepared you are for those situations. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they would line up 😂

I do like the concept of the flip sockets, they fit neatly in some of the Veto tool pouches and save on space. Looks like the pass-thru fitting is unique to Klein though and is not compatible with Gearwrench etc.

Yeah I haven’t found another one with the same connection. I tried several in my 11-1 from other brands people had.

Hmmm, Legos for men. I like it. I almost wish I needed it, but I don't right now. Maybe when I retire from my 1st career; I'd like to do more general maintenance stuff. I'm not ashamed to admit it, I'm a tradesman wannabe, but am medically unqualified due to having the balance of a toddler.

By gosh, you're going to cost me a lot of money. Went out and got the 11-1 ratchet screwdriver, multi-bit nut driver, and the 32 piece deep socket set this morning. I know I'll be going back soon to get a whole bunch more. This stuff is great.

It’s getting better the more they add to it. I wasn’t sold on paying the money for some of the sets, but if they are adding more making them all more useful… I might rethink it.

Yeah and then a pass thru adapter… surprised they didn’t just kept using the pass through ratchet in all of them even if the sockets weren’t. I do like the fact that the adapter will let me use the sockets on other 1/4” ratchet type tools I own

Those ModBoxes are quite clever and useful. Finally they noticed your presence in social media and that previous sample was not a one-off thing. You could try and make a video about whole Klein flip socket and shaft system focusing on a minimal setup with maximum capabilities. So what handle, what ratchet, what flip sockets and what shaft a peron would need to have all diameters with a minimal loadout (fitting in one or two ModBoxes).

I think they will be nice if they snap together easily. Based on the videos I have watched they look like they do, and they look like you can get in any box without taking off the others. That’s a really useful feature. Won’t hurt my feelings… or my wallet at much if they keep sending me stuff 😂

I have the “1/4” size” pass thru set. I wish the ratchet had a little higher tooth count. Other than that it’s been pretty handy

I hadn’t picked one up yet because my Lowe’s hasn’t had them. I might end up just shipping one to the store, but that’s a whole process usually at my store.

I’d love for you to do a video on the Knect Platform, specifically around the most ideal combination of these new impact rated flip sockets. I’m looking for a setup that provides coverage for both metric and sae with the option to drive via screwdriver, pass through ratchet or impact. I don’t want to end up buying some screw drivers, and some new kits like 65239 if I’m going to end up with a lot of overlap. Hope this helps as a future video idea. I think a lot of people will be interested in the same.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I appreciate it! I've been watching a lot of Veto EDC load outs, planning to upgrade some of my tools to a better and more efficient combination. I have a feeling that these new Knect tools might change a few things in terms of what I want to carry. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Love the idea of boxes like that but my concern is when they stop making them a year or 2 later. Kobalt storage boxes gonna be around even to the end of the year? There is alot of wasted space in thoes containers for thoes of us who need socket sets tight like thoes Makita rails. We aren't all hyper space concerned but we spend 100s on veto bags to maximize every inch so I can't see using one of these cases. If there's a setup or accessory that I have to have to make a super screwdriver ill canablize a kit. I applaud them for doing something different and cohesive despite the useless case to me.

I’m not typically a fan of cases o my bags as well… too much space. I usually do the same as you for everyday type tools. Specialty tools I don’t mind leaving in cases in a drawer just to keep them together

Yeah I'm not interested in the cases at all, I don't have nearly enough space for all this. I don't even want the ratchet or care about pass through. I have nice expensive ratchets and ratcheting wrenches already, Im not interested in giving those up for whatever cheap ratchet Klein is throwing in for these sets. I only want like 1 or 2 sockets from the kit and the adapter to add it to a ratcheting screwdriver. This is gonna get pretty expensive just to break down multiple kits they sell just to grab the 1 or 2 things I want for one setup.

Do like that mod box connecting smaller toolsets setup It’s not available here in Europe as far as I know and I mean any of it You can get some Klein but not much Hopefully now Milwaukee is actually getting some real competition in the storage field they will step up their own game As I can get team red over here

Jona at Shadow Foam went over to USA and brought the Klein Modbox, Stacktech and a few others, filled them all up with tools and DHL them back to the UK. Think that is the only way we will ever see Modbox over here for quite some time, even if at all.

Well prob be half a years worth of content for him I guess But If stacktech and modbox do deliver on getting out a big draw rolling box team red has to follow they can’t not do it then.

I’m sure they are like most other bit cases. The clear top will probably crack if you drop it very hard/far. If I end up with a double at some point, I will try it. I’m not making $50 throw away money on KZfaq yet 😂

so these are flip-sockets with flip-shaft hex drive. Different from the older square drive ones: I like using the old ones with a wobble drive, great for building electrical conduit & racks.

They are.. there is an adapter that works with a standard 1/4” drive. They have a 3/8 set too

They didn’t say when they sent them so I have no idea. This set they sent me is now available at some Lowe’s, so I assume it will be fairly soon.

Are these deepwell shallow broached? Where a nut sits at the very tip of the socket instead of going all the way down towards the drive end like a snapon deepwell?

No the nut goes to the bottom. They aren’t crazy deep, I would almost call them regular sockets. The entire thing is about the size of a deep well, but you are splitting it with two sizes

You would have to use the 1/4 adapter with the flip socket shaft in this set, and a 3/8 to 1/4” adapter

They may be coming in the future. I don’t know, but my guess is that Klein markets to Electricians more than anything, so they make sets more on what they would use over a mechanic or someone else… again that’s just a guess, I have no idea.

Do you know if Klein sells parts of these kits to replace broken/lost pieces? I bought the SAE deep well set but it doesn’t come with the 1/4” socket adapter like this one does. So I’m trying to find out if I can just buy that one piece out of this set.

Not that I know of. Many people have been asking for the same thing, hopefully at some point they will. It does get pricey buying sets when a lot that are in them become doubles

Yeah. They dropped the ball on that. The set I have has a 3/8 ratchet adapter for the 2 larger flip sockets and the 1/4” flip socket adapter that comes with the screwdrivers for the 3 smaller sized flip sockets. It should have both size ratchet adapters imo.

As a 24 year maintenance mechanic in a steel machining facility, I much prefer tools that are NOT magnetic! Magnets are horrible where we work.

@@jeffreys1554 90% of the time it’s better for me… occasionally a magnet becomes an issue but not often. It’s always just going to depend on what you do.
