Wow this is too cool. Arrows, ALP-44’s, F40’s, AEM-7’s, E60’s, and friendly crews. This was the Corridor glory days of the 90’s.

Great video! Nice to see another clocker at 9:10! And that was one smart kitty at 26:00. Interesting that only the Arrows and the Amfleets remain today - all the NJT power and Amtrak Electrics are gone, the Comet 1s too

Back around that time I used to either take the regular train from the Woodbridge station through Elizabeth into manhattan, or we'd drive to the Harrison station and take the PATH into greenwich village, $1 each way, only a buck for the path back then. so long ago yet seems like yesterday. I live in eastern PA now and no real mass transit here, miss hearing the train horns.

LOL at about 10:20 to 10:25. Also, I want a time machine to go back to the days of *THESE* trains, rather than the modern excuses for trains we have now. These trains make me feel very nostalgic. There's nothing I like about today's trains.
@1990sRailfan7 жыл бұрын
I hadn't watched this footage for years, probably since the time of shooting, the only thing I remember clearly from that day was the engineer and his amusing gesturing from the cab.
@1990sRailfan7 жыл бұрын
" These trains make me feel very nostalgic. There's nothing I like about today's trains."...I know what you mean, when I was about 13 years old I felt exactly the same way, with much older trains than these of course.
@davidcolantuono36227 жыл бұрын
Even the Arrow IIIs have changed today from the way they were. I didn't mind them adding additional headlights to the front of them (as other trains have). What bothered me (and still bothers me) is when they changed the pantographs. Before 2012 or so, Arrow IIIs used to have twin arm pantographs. But then, they decided to remove the twin arm pantographs and replace them with the single arm pantographs that ALPs have. That's fine for ALPs, but I don't like them on Arrow IIIs. Edit: Also...speaking of ALPs, I miss the original ALP44s that are shown in this video. Now, all we have are ALP46s and the even more ridiculous double moded ALP45s. I'm sorry if I seem to be ranting, but I grew up with the earlier trains and they have a very special place in my heart. While I'm a 1980s kid and was a child before even the ALP44s showed up, I didn't mind their inclusion. But, these newer modern trains, I can't accept. I've tried, but I failed...and now, I despise the modern trains, though I sort of tolerate the Arrow IIIs. I don't like their single arm pantographs, but I try not to focus on them and instead, focus on the Arrow IIIs themselves.
@1990sRailfan7 жыл бұрын
Hey, no worries. I think it's all relative to the age of someone to what they hold dear. To be honest, the only equipment I might have a nostalgic feeling towards in this video would be the E60s and heritage cars and maybe the F40s. At the time of recording this video, I regarded this stuff as modern, and kind of boring, but I knew it was worth documenting. Now standing in this location 20 years before this video was shot during the Penn Central days, to me, that would have been amazing.

I used to go to Raritan to videotape some trains from between 1999 to around 2002 or so. Back then, I had the big handheld camera that held VHS tapes inside. I never was able to upload those videos online and I wish I could have to enjoy them again, as I've enjoyed this video. I don't know how to upload VHS tapes to KZfaq. How were you able to upload these classic videos from the 1990s?

@Transporter_Not_Statham10 ай бұрын
An agreement between the two rail agencies since NJT has 2 lines out of Hoboken that run to Upstate New York which is owned by Metro North. They had 2 Comet 3 cabs (5179, 5180) which have been since renumbered 5009, 5010, and are now out of service. Ironically, they’re on Metro North territory, last I heard sitting at Croton Harmon
