Today, I'm showing the inside of two issues of Morning Virtues: Gratitude and Joy. I'll talk through what's included as well as my own plans for including these resources in our homeschool routine as part of Sequence 1.

I love that it has a schedule but doesn’t look too intense!!! The art and music info looks awesome!!! The handicrafts looks awesome!!! I’m Not a art expert so art information is awesome!!!

Yes! Our life is pretty well characterized by 'fusion' at this point. My husband playing Mexican oldies in the car while we head out for a favorite local breakfast of roti with dhal...

I’d love to hear your recommendations for six year old read aloud for these virtues. I have a five and a half year old who is in school in a second language - I’d love to have a wee morning moment with them in English maybe on a Saturday morning.

A few of the books I'm planning to read aloud to my son when he's six are Charlotte's Web, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Anna Hibiscus, The Very, Very Far North, A Mouse Called Wolf...and there are more that aren't popping into my mind at the moment. They aren't specifically aligned with specific virtues but are great chapter books when you're just starting out reading chapter books aloud, good stories and lots to converse about in them!

Hi Rachel! How would you use this if you were also doing Primer, which I am doing with my 6 and 4 year old. I also have an 8 and 10 year old (the 10 year old struggles with learning) so I wondered about just using the manners, art and music with all of them. But now I feel like this would also be lovely!

Primer does include Manners, Art, and Music and I think especially if your older children don't have a lot of experience with classical music or art, they would get plenty out of what's included in Primer, and could simply complete more challenging adaptations of art projects. Morning Virtues is wonderful and I'm excited to use these--but I've you're going to do Primer anyways, you could always wait and add in Morning Virtues once you've completed Primer! If you really wanted to use both...if you have separate read-aloud times for your older and younger children, then you could do the Primer elements at the read aloud time for your little ones, and Morning Time art/music/read aloud/memory during read-aloud time with your older children.

What books would you swap out instead of the recommended books? My son is 6 as well. Just looking for some more suggestions

Here's my video with my read-aloud picks: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5p6hZiQu7Oyg58.htmlsi=grMpmzLpNQCsiX6o I didn't focus on trying to 'match' particular virtues with books, I just picked books that I think fit this age level the best, some classics and some newer books. But I imagine we'll be able to find themes of kindness, courage, joy, etc in most of them. :)
