He said himself he doesn't like people, and he's just a really blunt and honest guy. I think he treats people fine though, he has his own opinions and when people ask him for them he tells the full truth... and he walked off a few shows because he could smell meat being cooked, he's been a vegetarian almost all his life, to him burning meat is like the smell of burning children...

I've only recently gotten into Morrissey and The Smiths, however ever since that moment I've been binge watching and listening to every single Morrissey & The Smiths song/album/interview/video/misc stuff I can find. It has literally taken up 95 percent of my free time (and I have a lot of that at the moment). I don't regret a second of it. It honestly feels like a Morrissey-shaped black hole swept me up before I could even realise what was happening. I can't get enough! I can't even begin to describe the pull Morrissey has on me. It's like I'm hypnotised, transfixed and mesmerised by his artistry, talent, voice, charisma and style whilst having no say in the matter. It was like the universe said 'You are going to love Morrissey and have no say in the matter dammit!' I've never felt this sort of connection to another artist/songwriter before. It's like he 'gets' the pain of being forced to live an ordinary life you don't want when you have dreams of something better.

Same! I've been obsessed with many different bands before, but this is different...Something about the Smiths' lyrics perfectly encapsulates the feeling of loneliness and alienation, not feeling like you are from this world. Also they are somehow super self aware but also not self aware at the same time, like most of the times the lyrics are so whiny but somehow not corny 😅 Glad to see some people feel the same :)

I'm glad you are opposed to suffering of any kind. Thats the first thing we have in common. I'll use myself as an ordinary example of animals versus humans, in terms of 'priority' since this seems to be the issue you have. I am an active member of various animal rights NGO's, including PETA. I am also a 22 year member of Amnesty Interntional, Oxfam, Action Aid, NSPCC and Childline. The truth is I dont do enough for any of them, including the animal ones. To be continued in next message...

@TheBraybeatles Here, another example is in your response: "Go through the extreme hassle of making sure there is no animal product in one's food". This statement implies that a part of what makes vegetarianism righteous is the "hassle", which wouldn't be relevant if it were for the animals' sake alone.

@TheBraybeatles Of course one wouldn't admit to it or may not even be conscious of a thing like that, but there's a lot of evidence in some of these comments that points towards superiority as a variable if not a basis for vegetarianism. For example, "Ignorance is eating animals", the term "flesh eating" instead of the more common "carnivorous" or "meat-eating" etc. The conscious use of these terms and phrases leads me to to believe that there are ulterior motives.

There are unfortauntely some extreme organisations that promote violence and chaos and I would agree with you that these people actually do a dis-service to everyone (on both sides of the debate). I've met a few people who just seem to dislike humans and I'm bemused by this! However none of this makes the basic arguement for basic animal protection, wrong. In fact its a measure of our own humanity that we look after and respect all life forms. I hope you agree.

All the more reason then to try and limit the damage we cant avoid , eating animals that consume so much grain to grow and the return is a carcass, use that same grain the animal would have eaten to feed humans and you get a more sustainable eco system. Vegatarian diets are like it or not good for the Earth, and human wellbeing.

@simoom37 I appreciate the empathy and dedication it takes to be a vegan or vegetarian, but I can't accept that they're better because they chose not to eat meat. A vegetarian has a different set of morals/virtues than a meat-eater; not necessarily better ones. I for one am not going to waste the molars my ancestors spent millions of years developing to grind down meat. I love In-N-Out burger. Animals are free to fight back if they feel like it.

I always find it funny that vegetarians think of meat eaters as not civilized, but they always seem to have great trouble to conduct themselves as such. At least try and make an effort to keep the discussion civil. I totally agree with you that our brains enable us to do much more than just eat animals. It's all human nature, and to not do it, would be unnatural. Our brain could not have evolved to it's current size and capabilities without the abundant energy of animal proteins.

@HammerOvThor Don't be sorry, & just try to imagine animal suffering.. And believe it or not I am a very humble person. I only think that people who think, are sensitive & who care for the well being of animals & life in general & therefore human life as we depend on that (so, this is logic), these people are higher than the meat industrialists & selfish meat eaters who do not care for life in general. Sorry but I think such thinking is much more virtuous!

I agree to keeping animals safe. I dont want anything or anyone to suffer but I believe that if you had to choose between a human or an animal there should be no hesitation to help the human. I do not believe that humans can live off of strict vegetarian or vegan diets. PETA has repeatedly tried to "take away" from human suffering by comparing it to an animal's suffering. Like chickens to the holocaust? Please, that is a complete slap in the face to all jews worldwide.

I agree with you that the priority is 'people', and expecially children and the poor/vulnerable. However this is no excuse for the vast and horrific abuse to animals that continues around the world. It shames our humanity. As I sid before, there are two types of people: those that care and those that dont - be careful which side you are on, either consciously or otherwise. Are you active in human protection movements? Not a challenge, just a question for you to consider yourself. Cheers.

@HammerOvThor sorry but no. I do think that people who care for animals & the earth & make the choice of not eating meat (it is the modern society with its meat industry that makes one think he needs to eat meat to be in good health) also for their own health & that of their children (that is, for all good reasons!), are "somehow superior" to eat meaters. I'm talking about developed countries & not about people who have no choice of course.

@HammerOvThor Sorry to intervene.. But as a vegetarian, & considering the number of people procreating, and considering the huge amount of humans that do eat meat everyday, even if the question should encompass more than just the meat subject (that is, consumerism as a whole); well, considering the effect & impact of such behaviour on the planet earth; and considering that these people contradict themselves in procreating & encourageing their brood to eat meat (...)

A little tip for you, best not to go on a YT site with Moz on it saying you like the taste of meat ( or similar remarks), its red rag to a bull. I dont justify blowing up buildings or killing people, I agree with you that this is wrong. However I've been a Vanguard member of PETA for a few years (this means making major contributions and getting close to the leadership and policy setting etc) and there has never been any promotion of violence. On the contrary actually. So in my opinion, PETA are excellent and very effective at what they do. I would hope you agree, that if I'm correct about non-violence, then they are a good thing.

So Joedog, in this context, what counts as innocent and guilty? I've never understood this. What is innocent? Aren't free animals at least as cruel and sadistic to eachother as human beings are to them? Why do for example killer whales and cats play with their severely injured prey? I don't see humans doing this. We work clean, fast and clinical. I still don't understand what guilt and innocence have to do with this. The evolution of our brains and incisors has enabled us, how can we be guilty?

@IrIsHBoI97 I have done research on nutritional values ,and i would like you to tell me the benefits of a meat diet as i can't seem to find any, to be veggie and be healthy you have to research or you could end up ill . As for the abuse only going on in a minority of "workshops" as you call it, is questionable, the assumption that animals cant sense fear is nonsense, they smell blood and hear death moans, they are scared allright, they have feelings , know fear and pain. >

@IrIsHBoI97 > I'm sorry but how on earth can someone say they love animals and then eat them, is'nt that a contradiction surely? "You are what you eat" as George B.Shaw said, what does that say about putting living feeling warm blooded mammals into your system, and not because you have to but by choice, for that is the reason, you dont have to eat animals to exist and that is a hard fact for meaters to accept it seems.

@IrIsHBoI97 Not in my diet there not ,anyway, give me another example of meat being more nutritious than a non meat diet and i will gladly correct you once again, I too could go on for hours about nutritional values of a veg diet over a meater's diet. I'm talking about diet's not PETA, so argue with someone that is a member, i'm not as i have allready stated. What about the animal abuse that goes on in slaughter houses, or are you ignoring ethical value's ? Do you have any ?

The teeth thing I just don't buy. I mean we may not have teeth for hunting but I'm pretty sure we have teeth that enable us to eat meat just fine. That aside I don't think nature has that much to do with whether or not we should or should not eat meat. Furthermore I'm suprised this has not turned into a "peta" are idiots debate.The concepts of innocent and guilty are subjective and man made. If anyone's interested in debate over veganism,feel free to pm me,comments are too short for expression.

Why dont you try searching your soul for answers anyway, develop ethical values for animals not just humans, my heart can encompass all life forms, not just humans, we are all one, cant you see this?

@hivahoa121 Auhm, if it's not in our nature to kill and slaughter, why do we do it throughout the centuries? Humanities finest art has been murder.... Now I don't see why you wrote me this; frankly, your queries are rather obnoxious sounding, but I don't see why you're writing me this, I am not arguing that we should eat meat, au contraire. And FYI, I've slaughtered a couple mooses as part of hunting. And, Humans are top of the food chain(highest energy transfer before digestion)
@Rawnesss
@Rawnesss 15 жыл бұрын
I see no direct perspective that allows one to make that connection between eating meat and evolution... what you say is unfounded.. If it is within our nature to eat meat, why can we go against our nature? And be better off... I've always felt that eating meat is slowing me down, it makes me think slower & act slower, why? Takes too long to digest The thing Anoano say is nothing but subjective judgement, and I can understand it when you argue against Rasabiharjii.

@HammerOvThor Thus I wouldn't feel myself superior to you! I'd love to live off the land too, but without killing my cow or animals! Instead, take a bit of her milk, as well as goats' & other animals & eggs. A vegan person can lack b12 vitamin. This is the one & only thing we have to eat animal products for. All other nutrients can be found elsewhere. Eating eggs & a bit of milk is sufficient compensation. I admire the Bishnois.. I believe they are superior to everyone!!
