We continue on with the cutscenes for Mortal Kombat 1. The Fellowship of Kombat is formed! New friends Ashra, Kenshi, Johnny Cage, Baraka and Reptile join together to take out Quan Shi and Shang Tsung. We see Megan Fox as Nitara as well as Havik and Ermac. Li Mei redeems herself in front of Sindel, Kitana and Mileena and Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Smoke set out on a mission for Fire God Liu Kang.

We do one more swap over and we're picking up from where we left off in Gamer's Little Playground's video as we thought the image was more vivid. This will be the last change, phew. However, we have blurred scenes which we think might be too violent for KZfaq while trying to preserve as much of the scene as possible for viewer experience. The joke about Ashrah's hat is a reference to her original look in MK: Deception. She had a very similar hat with a veil in the back, I like that the game makes a joke about it almost flying off in the wind. Some of her alternate costumes in this game also give her something similar, though a bit smaller.

I love her classic look with the giant hat but man her alt skins with the hats that are a little smaller looks so good, the big hat was cool but the smaller ones look better and imo her alt skin in mk1 is easily her best outfit ever, it looks amazing and and the white hair they give her looks amazing. Flawless victory and imo the best new skin released in mk1 so far

About Sub Zeros voice, Bi-han (The original subzero who died and becomes noob saibot) was always ruthless and aggressive. It was his brother kuai liang (That is now scorpion in this timeline) that was more compassionate. So yes his voice makes sense.

He wasn't that ruthless though they made him more evil, he was more neutral. He spared Sareena's life in the original timeline when he had a contract on her. And in the OG MK1 ending he retired even though you don't leave the Lin Kuei.

I generally love what they did with Johnny in this game. Considering this is a brand new timeline they could have made him the jokester and annoying person again but instead even though he still jokes he is genuinely a lot more caring to others, and the friendship he builds with Kenshi throughout the story is so cool.

Exactly! Johnny was such a dick in previous MK games and it made it hard to root for him as a good guy sometimes. Here, he’s charming, funny, and sort of dorky. While he still has a massive ego and can be insensitive at times, he’s not the massive jerk he used to be. He actually feels remorse when he crosses a line and displays a lot of humanity and compassion. Best Johnny Cage iteration ever.

he was genuine in the same way in MK9. (once he figured out what was going on) . and in MKX and MK11 he was older, wiser but still the same genuine . i love this MK1 Johnny but he is literally the same… sarcastic, egotisical, but caring and genuine, that’s why raiden picked him as an earthrealm champion throughout all the Mk games. His character hasn’t changed at all if you go and watch the other MK story modes . been a likeable guy if you can get past the ego lol

Military man Johnny Cage was fine in X and 11 because it was fun to see him as a dad, but yeah some distance from the Special Forces will be good for him. And Sonya when she comes back, I hope they give their romance some time off, let them interact with other characters more, like Liu Kang and Kitana need a break.

It’s because in spite of his ego and sometimes insensitive comments, he clearly displays compassion and humanity when he needs to. It’s not like in previous titles where he was just an absolute asshole for no reason. This is easily the best version of Johnny.

Ashrah is voiced by the amazing Susan Eisenberg who voiced Wonder Woman in the DCAU (the same universe as Batman the Animated Series) along with Kevin Conroy as Batman and also voiced her in the Injustice games. I'm so glad they got her because she has a beautiful voice and is the definitive Wonder Woman.

31:10 just for the info : This subzero is actually the prior- Subzero (the original one) , that he died and became noob saibot in the previous timelines . So it would make sense for him to have a voice like this in this game . And scorpion in this time line is the second subzero from the previous timeline(his brother :Kuai Liang) Hanzo Hasashi (the original scorpion) hast been mentioned yet !

“Just Ermac is evil” Not willingly, he’s always being used for evil though but however in the original timeline he became a good guy because Kenshi freed him.

So just on Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The reason Sub-Zero is more harsh and borderline villainous here is because this is Bi Han, who was the original Sub-Zero who became Noob Saibot later. Scorpion is Kuai Liang, who was the second Sub-Zero in the original timeline. So their attitudes are very similar to what they were portrayed as prior. Hanzo Hasashi was Scorpion in the previous timeline, but due to how this timeline is set up he hasn't become the Revenant we knew previously. There is more about Hanzo in the character endings that I won't spoil, but thought I'd just give what details I could.

The reason why sub zero has that "evil" voice, in addition to that superior attitude, is because he is the original sub zero (MK1), the one who after dying transformed into Noob saibot. The subzero from MK11, who is good and became a grandmaster, is Kuai Liang, who in this reboot takes the role of Scorpio. So Bi-Han's attitude and voice is actually quite accurate to his character.

Baraka got such a sad backstory. Crazy how they gave him and Reptile more character building because for so long they have been jobbers Love the natural progression of johnny and Kenshis relationship This the Johnny we needed for past games. He not out here like no jackass. He shows a good heart like he did before but feel he is less of an egomaniac. Megan fox sounds like she just woke up. To be fair soulnado was the actual name in the previous game in MK9. Ermac was always a collection of souls. In past games it was alluded to that King Jerrod the Late Emperor of Edenia and Late husband of Sindel was always part of his being. He even has an ending where he controls Ermacs body and rules along side Sindel and Kitana.

I watched Gamer's Little Playground version too and I noticed there's a small part that's cut out around Scorpion's chapter. it doesn't really affect the story much but it's very noticeable. I'm sure you'll notice it as well when it happens. nice reaction as usual, btw.

Ashrah's backstory is pretty much the same as it was in the previous timelines, though the difference is that she's still ways off from purifying her soul like in the original. As for Sareena, in previous timelines she was indeed a servant of Quan Chi but she encountered Bi-Han and was taught compassion, ultimately siding with him to stop Quan Chi and Shinnok. Quan Chi was also an oni in the Netherrealm that Shinnok ascended as his follower. Since Liu Kang pacified Shinnok here, seems like he changed Quan Chi's origin to be Edenian. Havik meanwhile was a Chaosrealm fanatic who wanted the destruction of Orderrealm. Here he was changed to be an oppressed local of Orderrealm and is this timeline's version of Dairou from MK: Deception. Much of the returning characters like Nitara, Sareena, Darrius, Havik, Li Mei and Ashrah were also characters who we hadn't seen playable since the 3D era MK games (MK4 to MK: Armageddon). So it's nice to see them return here after so long. Also might as well throw in that Kuai Liang is Scorpion in this universe because the Shirai Ryu don't exist yet and that Hanzo Hasashi, the original Scorpion, is not an active player in the story.

Sub Zero's voice makes sense to me when I consider the fact that this is the original Sub Zero / Bi Han. In prior games, he dies and eventually comes back as Noob Saibot. When I think of Sub Zero as the guy who became Noob Saibot, I can totally see his voice fitting in.

9:29 Order Realm was introduced in ether Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance or Deception. Long story short, Order realm and Chaos realm are always at war with one another. Which makes sense lol. Havik is from Chaos realm

I was in the same boat as far as all the realms. I didn't know how many realms there were until either I got into either Deadly Alliance or Deception later on. If I remember correctly it's Earthrealm, Outworld, Edenia, Neatherrealm, Orderrealm and Chaosrealm. It was the conquest modes that really made those games confusing and go on forever.

Just a bit of info about Sub-Zero and Scorpion in this game. In this game, Sub-Zero is Bi-Han, who was the original Sub-Zero in the original timeline, he died and became Noob Saibot. However, in this game, he is still currently Sub-Zero and hasn't died yet. Scorpion in this game is Kuai Liang, who was the second Sub-Zero in the original timeline, he became the new Sub-Zero after Bi-Han dies and became Noob Saibot. He is the most popular version of Sub-Zero and the one you knew from MK9 up to MK11. He was NEVER Scorpion in any of the previous timelines, he was always the second Sub-Zero. The original Scorpion that you guys knew about was Hanzo Hasashi, but he is not Scorpion in the MK1 timeline, who he is in this new timeline is spoilers.

Tbh sub-zero here is Bi-han. His voice quite resembles the original Bi-han. Most of the people don't interconnect it coz the character died so early and was replaced with Noob Saibot. The only voice that didn't did justice to the character was of Megan Fox. The voice was quite one dimensional.

Have you guys not heard their names? This scorpion is no longer Hanzo Hasashi. In this time scorpion is Kuai liang (the second subzero) from the previous timeline and now subzero is bi Han (the first subzero that was killed by hanzo and then turned into noob saibot). So there is no hanzo scorpion yet. But Bi-Han and kuai are still biological brothers in this new timeline but they are no longer both subzero.

Sub zero's voice will make sense via context clues as his story goes on P.S : this sub zero is the original one from the games not the one we know from mk11, who is now scorpion. I hope I said that with enough clarity

The order realm and chaos realm were introduced back in the 3d era during the game MK Deception. They act as polar opposites of each other with the government of the order realm having VERY strict laws and Chaos realm having complete anarchy. Havik was originally from chaos realm but in this timeline it doesn't exist and he's an order realm fugitive it's hinted that he was working with Quan chi to attempt destroying the order realms government as a means to create the chaos realm itself from order realms destruction.

Tuning down Johny's cartoonishness in the new timeline is one of the best decisions the studio has made in this reboot, right after humanizing Baraka and Mileena. Without cringy jokes and over-the-top attitude his good moments really do shine, showing that despite his ego he still does care for others. Now all they need is to find him someone else than Sonya as a Love Interest and I'll be one happy camper.

@@gabrieltejada1697 That's... true. He did have a moment with Kitana during the feast early on, which might be considered as a argument, but at the same time it wasn't anything definite. And frankly I don't even know who would Johny go with, but imo repeating his relationship with Sonya would do a big disservice to the post reboot character he has.

@@filipjecz I believe kitana would end up with raiden due to that line of " I hope we meet under different circumstances" which is the same line Liu Kang used on Kitana in MK9 but other than that I feel like Sonya is the best candidate for Johnny since I can't see them making a offspring better than Cassie Cage

Majority of the time ladder endings are not cannon, but in Ermac's MK9 Ladder Ending it was revealed that the most dominant soul within him is actually king Jerrod. And now in MK1 it looks like they actually made that a thing, which is what some fans wanted of Ermac's character. NRS did something similar to this previous with Liu Kang becoming a fire god and Johnny Cage's green Energy allowing him to take down Shinnok, as this reflected similarities in their MK9 ladder endings.

18:00 Good guess, but no. That hat was actually a part of her original design way back when in the earlier games. She hasn't been seen since Armageddon in 2007 I believe, so that was just a fun way for them to reference her original design.

I'm glad they gave geras more to do and made him a good guy to boot, instead of making him a Mk11 exclusive grunt. So many characters are finally getting the recognition they deserve. I'll definitely be getting this game.

The moment mileena gave Tanya the looks, I figured out how she got tarkat: she snuck out of the palace to meet Tanya for a date. She told sindel she snuck out because of the pressure of the throne. She lied because entanglement with the umgadi was forbidden. Which means: MILEENA LIED TO SINDEL TO KEEP HER AND TANYA'S RELATIONSHIP A SECRET BUT GOT TARKAT WHILE SHE SNUCK OUT

If you guys dont know...The current Scorpion (Kuai Liang) was the Sub-Zero in MK11...and the current Sub-Zero is Bi-han...the one who dishonor the Lin Kuei...MK11's Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) is yet to be revealed later in MK2...or in the possible future.. (p.s - correct me if i am wrong)

I like how we still get the more mature and compassionate Johnny Cage with a new reason as to why. In the second timeline, it was Cassie that straightened him out. He sacrificed his fame and everything so that he could be there for his little girl, especially after Sonya threw herself into her work and was a distant mother. Johnny became a good man to be a good role model for his daughter. In this new timeline, it's his friends. He learns to fight for something other than himself through working for Liu Kang and Kenshi, sacrificing his vision to save his life, bringing out the same level of respect and care that Cassie did.

About Sub zero's voice. In the past games, Subzero dies and becomes Noob Saibot. The dark ninja with a cheese grater voice and shadow clones. His younger brother took the title of Subzero after that. I think they gave him a rougher voice to remind us this is the original Subzero who has yet to die and return as Noob.

here is my reason about Sub-Zero and Scorpion.....this Sub-Zero is actually Bi-Han like the original timeline but why he voiced like that it gives us reminding him when he was Noob Saibot. As for Scorpion in this timeline is none other than Kuai Liang, Bi-Han's twin and the 2nd Sub-Zero from original timeline, the original Scorpion is Hanzo Hasashi since he was revive as a Hell Specter with full of rage while Kaui Liang is not that is why you never seen him in Pent up Aggressive Ninja like Hanzo
