Cyrax and Sektor are chosen to be the future of the Lin Kuei by the Grand Master, but Cyrax is less than enthusiastic about giving his life over to a cybernetic transformation that will erase his memories and turn him into the ultimate fighting machine. When he discovers that the cyborg he is fighting seems closely familiar, Sektor must keep Cyrax focused on destroying Hydro, and not himself or their future...

I wouldn’t say we were lucky lol. This series was mediocre. While I’m sure a lot of effort was indeed put into it, the series was just too low budget and you could tell. They also deviated from the games’ lore heavily, which annoyed me. Yeah, wasn’t a fan.

@@danielthesaint Not for me, it wasn't. I always thought this series was bad. I watched it when it first debuted and was not impressed. My opinion has not changed over time. I still think it's terrible. Not quite MK: Annihilation bad, but still bad. I am glad that Kevin Tancharoen walked away from MK and never made his movie or a Season 3 of Legacy. I didn't like his vision for the series.

I remember the actor who portrayed Kano! That was Darren Shahlavi, who was that one boxer in Ip Man 2. Hate that he died. He played such a badass villain. RIP.

I think I get it now, the fight against Hydro was more a display of the two cyborg versions. Hydro clearly proved superior in combat, but fell short of strategy and awareness. He would stand and take many hits, only occasionally blocking or evading. When one target was out of sight, he tunnel visions the other. Sektor and Cyrax on the other hand tried to 1v1 him and took many blows initially. When trying to solo him didn't work out, they both went at him. They were learning as they fought him. Once they had him at both sides, Hydro tried to tunnel vision on Cyrax, but Sektor grabbed his arm and attacked. I guess that is why the Grandmaster was pleased. They are combat proficient and capable of assessment.

Note that Hydro was commanded by an AI and system rather than based off instincts like a human brain. Hydro is merely a prototype of first gen cybernetics. It's a no wonder he lost but they could've improved him for a more difficult opponent and make him an training dummy so Cyrax and Sektor can continue training and improving skills. Especially 1v1

@@koreancowboy42 The goal of the Cybernetic initiate was not just make combatants, but more importantly assassin. The Lin Kuei is an assassin organization after all. With that being pointed out, OP observations is correct. Hydro seems to be that of foot soilder unit controls by someone. Your standard strong lackey. Cyrax and Sketor on the other seem to have their consciousness intact in there some where along with an A.I. That allow them to as you stated to assess amd make decision on their own without someone alwqys controlling them. I would guess that the grand master see this as theres no longer a use for Hydro as both Cyrax and Sketor have fulfilled the role of soilder, combatant and assassin. He dipose og hydro. Ironically this came to back his arse as Cyrax and Sketor become not just self aware but regain their consciousness.

@@jakoclown4175 lighter armor makes no difference when combat two other robots who are intacted with human brains than an AI system code and someone controlling it behind a screen and keyboard. You can see that Hydro has the power in early combat of these Cyrax and Sektor. And hydro begins losing its combat prowess due to the other two are adapting because of having a human brain to make better choices us their skills.

@@billylee4460 indeed, as good as project prototype hydro was, it wasn't as effective as having a actual brain that still works along side assisted with AI. Hydro has an advantage of early domination on the two which the two merely tested its strength and such, from which they took note of what it can do and adapted as their still getting used to their bodies aswell. They can see that Cyrax and Sektor could've improved their combat capabilities more if hydro has been upgraded for more of a fight dummy to see what Cyrax and Sektor can do on their own, against 1v1 instead of 2v1. Considering that these tests just proved the two are so much deadlier together and in these cyborg bodies. But of course Liu Kang beat the crap our of Sektor xD and then Sub Zero

Plot aside, they really went all out on the effects and fights in this one. Really puts the idea of how far special effects have come when something which could qualify as a fan film blows the official film clear out of the water in terms of effects.

My theory is that they were losing because their cybernetics were not fully in sync with the brain but as the battle moved on they developed a better connection leading to a win for them

That CGI and fight scene is amazing. The story has more holes than swiss cheese though. Why test two superior versions against one apparently lesser versions, and then feel as though it was a successful test when the single lesser version kicked both their asses and only lost in the end due to being double teamed.

But maybe Hydro was the failure, not because of fighting ability, which he obviously had, as did the rest of the Lin Kuei even as humans, but rather control. Remember, the purpose was to have cerebral assassins without any emotional attachment to their actions, it seems as if Hydro wasn't completely autonomous (perhaps still receiving commands from someone). While in a lab that would work, on the field, probably ineffective.

I just took it that hydro was the superior lin kuei prior to the upgrades ie had powers like sub-zero where as cyrax and sektor had better upgrades but no powers

i dont think so it seems like he's winning but i'd say cyrax and sektor were just learning to adapt to his fighting and win. notice how cyrax and sektor took way more hits than hydro but werent disengaged. it only took 4 - 5 hits for hydro to lose while cyrax and sektor were just taking attacks while still being fine

I can't explain why, but I've always been disturbed by the cyber initiative. I always imagine it like a FNAF scenario. Where their corpses were put into the cyber units. I imagined wires being pierced through their skin. Mk11 obviously showed that it was just the brain and spinal column.

mk11 sort of soft rebooted the cyber initiative lore bcs even in mk9-10 it was that horrific half body with wires and such. The whole brain thing was only in mk11 and i guess was a design decision to either make it bearable for players and less intense or to make cyrax want for death more reasonable

As I understand it after reading the comments: 1. Hydro cannot adapt in combat and work as a team because he is 100% a robot with no senses. 2. Cyrax and Sektor can adapt to the enemy and work as a team, because they are half-robots, half-people.

Hydro is in fact a Ninja as well, he is an old MK character from the comics who accompanies Bi-han to the first mortal kombat where unfortunately Hydro is slain by Scoprion.

Scott Goodfellow They took on a cyborg who had more upgrades, the arm twist, the electricity punches. Without any of the things like bombs, missiles, nets, or teleports. They'd tear apart most armies when fully upgraded.

Hydro was a character from the comics. Part of the Lin Kuei and the original Sub Zeros allied in the first MK-tournament. He was killed by Scorpion before the tournament. But he was human.

I always wished hydro wouldve had more involvement in the current installments of mortal kombat. While this was a spotlight for Cyrax and Sektor, always felt like Hydro was in the backlines. A proto cyber fighter to his predecessors. Shows they both can adapt to whatever they face, but that they had to adapt fairly quickly to beat a pretty sturdy opponent. But that kick after Sektor pulled back Hydros arm definitely ended it as it stunned him and left him helpless, rip

would be even more perfect if 'the project director James Wan or another director, introduce the designers of these characters from Mortal Kombat Legacy: Cyrax & Sektor in the film project to film a genre slasher and splatter film reboot, what Mortal Kombat without seeing the bloody fatality ??, however, if 'is the construction site this project other people like Sammo Hung for the part of Bo Rai Cho or as Donnie Yen in the Kung Lao (see movie Ip man) and other stakeholders and etc. etc.

when I wrote 'perfect', I meant the look, or rather, the armor suit of Cyrax and Sektor the image; I was not referring to combat when I wrote perfect; then in the video are missing the classic special attacks, the missiles for sektor and for Cyrax .. the grenades, energy network, teleportation, self-destruction (Fatality) and the shark as animality. then in the video missing at 8:16 seconds, the text splatter 'Fatality'.

I prefer when they look similar. Wouldn't make sense if creators produced different helmets once their plan was to transform every warrior into cyborgs. So what? Every warrior would have a different design? This video presented the most realistic Sektor and Cyrax version.

This is my absolute personal favourite of all the episodes of Mortal Kombat Legacy this episode explains how Cyrax and Sektor became Cyborgs the cyborgs can and always have been my personal favourites and my best characters that I would play as in the Mortal Kombat games.

This is just pretty awesome. I like the way they fight. Absolutely realistic. But I think the third kick (Min. 08:03) Has no sound. Probably I don't hear it but notice this missing every time. Anyway, great work.

As I see it now, Hydro is a manually controlled bot, person typing something on a keyboard hints on that. So basically Hydro is a good sparring bot but it couldn't be a practical fighter, 'cause it needs to be controlled, whilst Cyrax and Sector are autonomous.
