Mortal Shell Build Guide: Eredrim, the Venerable. fextralife.com/mortal-shell-b... - In this Mortal Shell Class Guide, we’re going to be taking a look at the Eredrim, the Venerable Shell, which is the last Shell players will acquire within the game. I’ll be providing tips on which Skills to take, which Weapons work best with this Shell, and who should be using this Shell in their first playthrough based on its playstyle. If you’ve been wondering if this is the Shell for you, or how to best utilize it, watch on to find out.

Eredrim, the Venerable is likely the last Shell you will find in Mortal Shell, and he can be found laying just outside the Eternal Narthex which is just past Fallgrim Outskirts. It’ll cost you 500 Tar to reveal his name, Stats and his Skills, and this should be the first thing you do after acquiring him. This can be done by Sester Genessa inside the broken keep in Fallgrim.
Eredrim is not a bad choice for new players or veterans, but his damage abilities get less and less effective as you progress the game and you upgrade your weapon more and more. For this reason, I’d highly advise that you don’t use him in NG+ and onward, but rather use him to learn mechanics of Bosses or mini-bosses that hit hard. His huge Health pool will allow you to take hits and stay in the fight long enough to learn what their attacks are.
If you can learn to use Eredrim well then you should have no problem with any other Shell in the game. His low Stamina makes him much harder to master, but once you do, all other Shells will seem easy by comparison. If you choose this Shell you might have a harder start to your game, but he is very powerful once you learn the mechanics of Mortal Shell.

@@declicitous1763 the last time i got out of the shell when i was getting each weapons then i did the ederin dungeon and lost the shell after open the gate, then i did the frost then fire, then end the black cristal dungeon everything without lose the shell.

Good guide. I actually think Eredrim is a great shell for parry, especially when you're learning. In ALL the other shells a failed parry can wipe out 40-50% of your health which discourages attempts. Eredrim encourages you to learn the timing on various enemies without fear of being wiped out. In a game with such a poor healing economy this is incredibly helpful. 🤔

SeanHiruki I use Solomon with frost sword. Go in with max resolve and a your sword frozen. You’re opener on bosses will be a big swing/harden combo to get your frost lock going for a good amount of dmg rinse and repeat frost lock combo.

I love how distinct the different shells are in this game. Each plays completely differently from the others.

Eredrim is incredible against the big enemies when used with the Kick skill and Hallow sword. None of the big enemies can stand up to him. You can easily regain your resolve by wailing on a fallen enemy while they are down and they will die so fast because of your bonuses to damage. He's a great 1v1 fighter.

Agreed, I was just swinging away at the prisoner for multiple combos with him getting stunned OVER AND OVER and whenever he wouldn't and I had no more stamina... just use a weapon ability or harden to get invincibility frames and get stamina back then boom swing away again till stagger and get another free full combo then repeat... first tried the final boss while smashing face on keyboard, something that even solomon could't do with full resolve and a smouldering mace to spam weapon specials since the prisoner has buttloads of health (tho I have to admit solomon is better for all the earlier bosses due to smaller hp pools)

@@mirkofraccastoro7573 Honestly, you should give Martyr’s blade a chance with Eredrim. Get his 100 kill buff, his poise damage perk, and max out the blade. Buff the blade with ice, and you are looking at the stronger attacks in the game, and will stagger virtually any enemy in one or two hits, which leaves them open to either a two hit combo attack, or a sprinting attack. The sprint attack one shots basic enemies at +3 if you have the buff. At plus five, your damage is just ridiculous.

@@mirkofraccastoro7573 The stamina consumption isn’t as big a deal as I thought it would be. Eredrim can get off three strong attacks before running out of stamina, but you probably won’t be able to get off more than two at a time anyway because of the slow attack speed unless you get the stagger, but that’s kind of the case regardless of the shell you’re using. Since Eredrim does get the stagger so frequently, though, you can often get in some extra hits. I find that if going with Eredrim and Martyr’s, it’s about positioning, spacing, and economizing your attacks. The sprint attack is my bread and butter, and is a great opener for closing distance. It is also probably the strongest single attack in the game. That usually opens up opportunities for a power attack, or you can harden and roll away to control distance. I’ve found a lot of success with that strategy, even in the end game areas.

Same thing ) It also seems that Seat of Infinity should have been the last location, but for me it was the first... where I suffered for a very long time at the beggining, but after all the other locations seemed to me like very short and easy.

He was actually the first for me to find. I completly overlooked Solomon and had to look at your wiki. I love his look, but the missing stamina makes him really bad for me.

I just started playing from free ps+ and did the same. I usually prefer dex in Souls type but in this and Lords of the Fallen the tank is fun as hell.

I definitely think Eredrim is the best shell for new players. The near infinite health pool gives so much room for error, even if the stamina is lacking.

Yeah I was getting my arse kicked on the regular, until I got his shell. It also has given me a chance to learn parry timing for enemies without fear of a swift death, so I can more confidently branch out into other shells.

Honestly, I disagree about weapons for Eredrim. With Martyr’s blade, I’m stun locking the largest enemies in the game with a single hit. Multiple enemies are very manageable with proper spacing, and taking one or two out early with the running attack is helpful. The running attack one shots normal enemies if you have the 100 kill buff, so that’s my bread and butter. If you combine that with the damage boost from Martyr’s special, you are looking at some massive numbers, easily the most damaging single attack in the entire game. The cherry on top is that I didn’t even have a maxed out Martyr’s, it was only level 3 while I was testing all this out. It would be ridiculous at +5.

I only got this game yesterday but this guy is my favorite right now. I use martyrs blade too. Slow weapon, not really for combos with his low stamina but the charged attacks are something else.

Favorite shell honestly and the hammer and chisel are by far the best weapon in the game fast super damage fully upgraded both shell and hammer I hated this game at first even with using the shell but now super fun

After using Tiel to do most of the game with hammer and chisel, I decided to try this guy for the obsidian area and he is really good, especially when you have a lighter weapon.

Ugh, somehow I wound up in the eternal narthex first. It definitely felt like I was out of my depth with only a +1 starter sword but it was fun. Started with harros but switched to Solomon halfway through for parries. Fun game

I really enjoy this game, it has it all. Just one thing, we need a DLC soon or a second part. The game is too short. By the way, Salomon is my top shell in the game.

While this is a good guide, I would add that the healing empowered riposte really does increase his survivability and helps save up on healing items

Yeah, you're definitely wrong about the Accretion of Resolve capping at +10 damage, had to turn on damage numbers and check because you made me doubt it, but you continue to get +1 damage per 10 kills at least as far as 650 kills... hammer and chisel is one-shotting the armored guys in Fallgrim. Not sure if this was patched in or what, but I don't currently know what the new cap is if there is one. Edit: And now a patch has gone through that dropped my beautiful 1419 stack down to not but 100, so I suppose you were using the already patched version before we got it.

@@horus_thebirbgod68 It was, essentially, a kill record of nearly every enemy in the game. I was rather saddened to lose it, but I suppose now I can finally use the tainted nektar and effigy items.

I really want them to make a Hadern Shell unlockable when you max out all other shells and reach NG+. Max stats, 5 resolve bars but no perks or second chance.

Eredrim is the Doomslayer of Mortal Shell, just like DS (lore wise) he gets stronger the more enemies you defeat plus his large health pool and you become an absolute unit

Ironically, Eredrim was the first shell I have found (after Harros, obviously). That's because I didn't look at any tutorial and went "blind" in and as he's not behind a boss or a destructive part, you reach him just by walking down a particular path that is relatively easy to manage.

I must be playing the game very differently, because I'm almost done with the game and I've almost exclusively used this shell. Also I've been using the mace again pretty much exclusively, which you didn't mention as a good option. So maybe their are just different styles like the one I use that just require a different approach to use. I love the combo I use and dont feel the need to switch it out, even in late game.

I have noticed two different actions it has. Sometimes when the projectile hits the floor, it winds up and explodes. But if you directly hit an enemy it will pin them into a wall and not explode.

Yes, which is why Eredrim can be considered the boss-killer in this game combined with the bonus from destroying all the minions in the area. He does some ridiculous darn damage.

Eredrim is honestly my least favorite Shell. I just beat the first boss with him on the first try, without even getting knocked out of the shell, but that’s not what I’m looking for in a Soulslike experience. Would’ve played Tiel but I was out of Effigies and not going all the way back to the Tower when I was thirty seconds from the boss.

Only first boss I died to in any soulsborne game was Gascoigne. Sometimes it just be that way, bosses sometimes just don't cut it for some folks. Unsure what you're lookin for in a "soulslike experience" tbh. We can't gauge a whole game and build on the first boss.

Idk if i like this game, my prefered build is a tanky and a large slow high-damge weapon, but eredrim seems to suck with such weapons beacause of his low stamina

Good shell, but I just can’t stand that small stamina pool. Solomon or even Tiel are my favorites. Even Harros has an amazing skill that allows stamina to increase so fast when hardened.

Stamina in mortal shell is overrated..eredrims stamina is enough for u to do 2 hits and run away which is basically the go-to strategy for the majority of the enemies and bosses in the game

I use this shell once I learn how to be patient and I have the martyrs blade it’s not bad I do a lot of damage but also have to back up take my time I tend to beat bosses 3-4 times learning but high HP isn’t bad I’ve never played dark souls. I got this as soon as I got in the game

Good summary of Eredim. The point if his character is methodical and persistant. But also being powerful in each strike. He plays the most like how i like to play, bulky tanky and patient.

Why would anyone need a guide with this build it’s easy mode. It’s a shame this game had so much bad code in it that I ran into at least 10 issues two game breaking ones.
