Actually, it's an old Jewish joke. God gave us 100 commandments, but Moses was able to bargain it down to only 10. He tried to get rid of Covet too, but God refused.

Actually, he said "oy" not "uh". Oy is a shortened version of "oy vey" which is the equivalent of "damn" or a similar exclamation.

I read an article recently that on the third tablet prop there’s an inside joke. The joke is that the Hebrew writing of the fifteenth commandment translates to: “Thou shall not break.”

Pretty sure that tablet was all about how evil usury is, and the punishment is having the tip of your cock cut off and smelling like shit for the rest of your life. Moses saw it as a fair trade, and dropped it on purpose.

You're right. Just recently I had to show my son the "no stairway to heaven" meme origin, and also there was "dumb and dumber" on tv one day. We couldn't watch the film for more than 15min, for both i had to sort of apologize "well, I found that funny at the time for some reason". The stairway "meme" is cool, of course, but the delivery so "cringe". And the last joke of d&d does make me laugh, but is not worth the film.

So true about his friendliness. I phoned the studio once and asked to speak with him, and he answered himself, then agreed to meet with me, just because I asked. I went to 20th Century Fox and he spent at least 20 minutes just chatting with me, for no good reason at all, just because he was kind. I will never forget that experience.

That is among the most fundamentally, deep-in-the-gut HILARIOUS things to ever be put on film. Mel Brooks knows funny. The notion that all of humanity was denied knowledge of 1 in every 3 of God's Holy Commandments, because Moses dropped them and pretended it didn't happen, can't be topped.

'How does that guy get away with such reckless humor?', I thought at the time. But I laughed. And then I squirmed through Blazing Saddles.
