Today we look at covering your van's side-doors (and back doors) with mosquito netting. If you're going to stay comfortable in the heat of summer, you're going to need lots of ventilation and that means opening your back and side doors. With all the mosquitoes out there, you must cover those doors. In this video, I show how to do it very cheaply and easily!

This is honestly the simplest and best way. Takes a second to put up, takes a second to take down and store, and the net doesn’t have to stay there like some other methods. Take advantage of the van being metal! Smart idea

You could wrap your magnets in a layer of Saran Wrap (or equivalent thin plastic wrap) to keep them clean. When the plastic wrap gets excessively dirty with metal filings , carefully peel it off and replace it.

Kitty, my first trip to Newbern, NC, we were having lunch on a rooftop patio. I saw a TINY insect on my arm and thought nothing of it, until...OUCH! That bugger bit me, followed by several more! I have lived in mid-NC for 30-years, and this was my first encounter with no-see-ums. I react terribly to mosquito bites, but these bites were truly the worst and most itchy/painful I have ever experienced, and they truly did last at LEAST a week. He wasn't exaggerating!

Mosquito netting is ESSENTIAL where I live. I would also like to recommend BugOff brand screens. I have tried every brand and found that one to be the best. It includes a tension mounted rod, magnets sewn into the top, bottom and middle of the opening flap so it automatically seals when you enter or exit..and velcro along the sides to keep them down and sealed tight. It comes in precut sizes or made to order sizes. I got mine from Walmart but also available at Amazon. I hope you will give it a try. I think you would love it and might find it a bit easier and possibly a tighter seal. Thanks for all your amazing videos and such useful tips. Fantastic idea. I had no idea this could be bought in rolls. I bought a mosquito net canopy for a queen size bed, otherwise all I found were like 8' X 10' type pieces! I want to do this with our camper and maybe an outdoor seating area. That's a lot of netting. I also think it would be good in the garden. My zucchini got attacked big time this year. I got 3 zucchini per plant. I don't use toxins on the bugs so I need a new defense, lol. I have to get a roll of that stuff. Thanks for sharing.

We living in an apartment with no storm door. Mosqutos were a problem. We found the cloth/fiberglass type screen in the screen section of the home improvement store. Got velcro strips. Bob, there are very powerful magnets of all different strengths called Neodymium magnets to use for where you go in and out of your door. I wouldn't use them any other place you don't NEED them, because they are strong. In the process of getting them off you could scratch your paint, if that concerns you. I'M sure you can buy a couple of them for 10.00 that would work great. Maybe you'd only need one.

I was wanting to see what you would think if I was able to make screens for vehicle dwellers that have a binding around the edges, would you think it would be something that would sell well at places like the RTR? I was thinking if you trimmed that netting to fit better, then around the perimeter sew some sort of fabric (what kind?) with the magnets embedded inside the fabric every few inches or so. Maybe a 2" border would work. Sew around the magnets inside the fabric to fix them in place. The side door net could be then one piece and you could peel it back from the side to step inside. Might need to sew some finger loops of fabric inside and outside in the perimeter to help with handling and placement. Advantage to this design is there is no center seam and a better fit at the bottom that allow biting critters to enter. Disadvantage...need a sewing machine or a lot of patience to hand stitch.
