MOSSBERG

5 жыл бұрын

Clint Smith discusses his relationship with the Mossberg brand.
President and Director of Thunder Ranch, Clint Smith is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of two infantry and Combined Action Platoon tours in Vietnam. His experience also includes seven years as a police officer during which he served as head of the Firearms Training Division.
With various facilities and installations spread out across nearly 900 acres of beautiful Southern Oregon, Thunder Ranch is more than just a clever name - it's the premiere destination for world-class firearms training.

"...I want to be smart enough I don’t have to use it.” This comes to mind whenever I think about the attempted home invasion I encountered 2 years ago at my home. After about one minute of reporting a suspicious luxury car and knocking on the door with a sheriff on the phone, three out of four ex-cons got out of their car and ran up my driveway. One of them made it to my backyard so fast but I was already in position downstairs. I told the sheriff on the phone I needed to take action (instead of panicking and waiting for them to finally show up), so I grabbed my Mossberg 500 with a Surefire forend tactical light and chambered a round by simply racking the forend forward. Incredibly, I felt in control of my emotions with no symptoms associated with adrenaline dump like tunnel vision and heavy breathing. As I swept my shotgun carefully and then pointed it towards the doors where the ex-con appeared who was about two break a window or a door, I knew when I had to take the shot if necessary. It was never necessary because my gun was simply a deterrent. I never even used my light either. That was the first time I ever had to defend my home and partially disabled mother with a gun. Thankfully, I didn't experience debilitating fear, probably because I had practiced using my shotgun several times.

I just recently ordered a Mossberg 590 Thunder Ranch (waiting for it to ship ) 13” LOP was a huge factor in my decision to go with this particular model . The short 18.5” breacher barrel with tri-rail fore end also plays an important role for a quick deploying home defense shotgun, and of course just the fact that it’s entire inception and design is attributed to Clint Smith speaks volumes. I think I made the right choice 🤔

I like that you make a big deal out of shotgun fit. Too bad you can't convince Mossberg that their typical 14+" length of pull is wholly unsuitable for about 90% of the population. The 13" LOP you spec on your Thunder Ranch models is about perfect! Only NBA stars and giant circus freaks can use their typical 14+" LOP models.

My favourite pump is the Remington 870 but not because the Mossberg isn’t good, it’s just what I grew up with. However my favourite shotgun is an inexpensive, (not cheap) Thunder Ranch 14.5” OU bog standard without the chokes. I added a flashlight up front on the pic rail and a buttstock shell saddle. You can tell how much I love it because it is absolutely scratched and dinged all the Hell and back again. (I’m in Canada so no SBS rules so it’s okay that it’s short).

@AK-47ISTHEWAY 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaredHempfield Wrong. Just about any other shotgun on the market can pass that test. My Ithaca Model 37 probably has close the 5000 rounds of buckshot and slugs through it. I know people that have Remington's and Benelli's that have tens of thousands of rounds through them! Exhibition shooter Tom Knapp has a Benelli M1 hanging in a museum that has over 480,000 rounds fired through it and they are all documented. Only reason Mossberg won the military contract is because Mossberg was the lowest bidder. The military buys their shotguns for cheap where as if Remington or anyone else were to lower their prices they would lose money. Mil-Spec is not what you think it means. It actually just means lowest bidder.

For an older guy he talks faster than a 12 year old girl. LOL My question, What does Thunder Ranch offer that Front Sight does not?

Mossberg? Seriously? I have seen so many fail I would not take one hunting much less in a SD situation. This is just a marketing play, sad, cannot take this seriously.

I currently own 2 Mossberg shotguns that I train with regularly, and I never had one fail. The Remington 870 is the one you want to stay away from. They are the shotguns that have serious quality control problems. I have met more people who have sold the Remingtons to buy Mossbergs than you can imagine.

Fuck Remington I’m not buying one and spending another 1500 on it for it to work my parents bought me a new Remington 870 when I was 15 less than 100 rounds the damn ejector fell right out Mossberg has always been on top this man is not bought and paid for it’s obvious why the Mossberg is better
