Today we tackle one of the most dangerous off road trails in Colorado. Black Bear Pass is a notorious jeep road trail that starts from 11,018-foot summit of Red Mountain Pass on U.S. Highway 550 to Telluride, Colorado. I’m absolutely impressed on how my Toyota Tacoma performed.
Enjoy!
This is a 3 trail Series, make sure you subscribe to tune in when the other videos drop.

Yes, low cog vehicles are better. All the snowflakes driving their nuttly lifted trucks get nervous due to the cabin tilt from their high cog vehicles, and from disconnecting their sway bars - what did they think would happen ?

Just did this trail a few weeks ago in my XJ Cherokee (was first person there, same day the Wrangler rolled). The trail isn’t that tough... BUT no video can convey the uncomfortable feeling of being off-camber mere feet away from a cliff. I’ve knocked it off the list, but I don’t need to do it again. Poughkeepsie Gulch was far away my favorite trail in the region.

I have to say, watching you wheel with live audio, and quiet toyota engines, was very nice. Its amazing to be in a place like you are, and sometimes loud exhaust gets old real fast, especially on an overland trip.

Being from this part of Colorado (and even having gone to middle school in Telluride) it was interesting that I was able to guess where these guys were from. After the first few minutes of the video, I was like, "I bet they're totally from California." and I finally caught a glimpse of a license plate, and yup, Cali. They're totally cool and chill guys, and I wouldn't hesitate to hang out with them, but it's interesting how "outdoorsy" people are different from region to region. It's like they're their own type of rugged, which is like, kind of cleaner? More stylish? More with it? All your clothes looked laundered and wrinkle free. Even the hoodies. And your trucks looked super nice too. Maybe "California Rugged"? And it's really different from what I'm used to which I guess is "Colorado Rugged". Ha ha. Glad you guys enjoyed your visit to the San Juans, and thanks for the great video!

@@ADDvanced ha ha, or at least, very image-conscious, which does take money to achieve. Even the meals they eat. Shrimp? That looks better than what I usually eat at home 🤣 Don't get me wrong, it looks delicious. And if I were with them and they handed me a plate, I'd be so grateful and impressed. But when I'm out car camping, it's like, a can of Ranch Style Beans opened and placed on a rock next to the fire using a pair of pliers eaten with a pack of store tortillas, or if I have a Coleman with me, it's Spam and potatoes and a beer, ha ha.

From Idaho. I know exactly what you mean. You can tell the locals rigs apart from the transplants. These guys trucks are goals but I'm not rich. I hate how you never see older 4runners and hardly any 2nd gen Tacomas yet FJ cruisers are here because they're rare and desirable. Sick builds, but I want to see someone wheel in a secondhand 2nd gen taco SR5 like what I have.

You should look into investing in a USMC sleeping system. The less layers you have on the warmer it gets. It's composed of 3 pieces (one sleeping bag for cold temperatures that your body will be making contact with, a warm weather sleeping bag that will wrap around the cold weather bag, and an outer shell that we call a cocoon that protects against wind and the elements that wraps on the outside of the two other bags). You'd have to buy it on ebay because they're military issue only and not available for sale to the civilian market.
