So no detecting for me today but I did happen to put together another film, showing this time all the metal detecting equipment I use, carry and recommend. Plus I also share a quick walk through of just how I have setup my Nissan Patrol 4x4, specifically for detecting and travelling to that next site!
Thanks so much for watching and I really hope you enjoy🙂

I like the Titan storage box. You got me looking for something similar for my 2008 Ford Explorer.

Thanks heaps @Bruce Mullis these titan draws are amazing to carry all the detecting gear in, even lockable to. I purchased this set for the patrol through 4WD Supacentre in Melbourne. There prices are unbeatable and the quality of most products sold is really good value. Best of luck mate and thanks heaps for watching 👍⛏

im going to take your tip on carrying a portfolio, im so shy it will help a lot. thank you for the idea, I haven't seen any one do that yet, its a good technique !

You are most welcome @Quest For Details I have had some really great success using the portfolio over the years, as it always helps to show the landowners what you are looking to possibly unearth at there property. Most say "you wont find find anything" until you pull the book out and start flicking through the pages...then they are keen to see if anything in the portfolio can be found at there site also😅 I wish you the best of luck hunting for future and really glad to of helped. Thanks heaps for watching🙂⛏️

That’s amazing. My husband is an engineer but not mechanically inclined and my degree is business want your taxes done no problem. However I would love to have your set up. I use containers for everything and switch it out by season.

Hello once again . I’m stopping to say awesome video and thanks for the review of tools you use for the hunts . Also my friend bought an equinox 800 and I tuned and programmed the machine just how you showed in the set up video . He’s really happy and he don’t use KZfaq so I figured I’d stop in and say you have another happy person with those recommendations for the nox 800 👊👊👊

Very interesting and I love what you ve done to the Patrol....I have a much smaller Suzuki Vitara so really appreciate how you are using very bit of spare space....I am suprised you don't carry any basic recovery gear...I always have a couple of tow strops, 4 D shackles and a small plastic tarp,/ground sheet...I ve never had to be recovered, but I have used them to pull out 2wd cars off muddy fields at detecting club meets ect...I also like to have a set of long jump leads....I try to draw the line there as the weight of this sort of kit soon gets out of hand.. Detecting kit wise, I think I have pretty much the "equivalant" to what you carry.... I try to avoid carrying a back pack but fully understand why you would need one....I have put together a "detecting harness" that carries my finds pouch, pinpointer and trowel. Also on the belt I have a water bottle pouch which carries a small .5l water bottle plus some sandwiches so I don't need to return to my vehicle to eat....My pinpointer is attached to be via a curly lanyard and having recently lost a trowel, I think I need to do the same with that! lol The pic in the link shows it last year before I made some minor changes: photos.app.goo.gl/tu3Ltr41y1PMiLYr6 In summer if the weather gets hot (unusual for the UK!) I carry additional water, and there is always more in my vehicle...Additionally have a "dump pouch" on my belt that stores folded up and out of the way unless it is need it for something... In the vehicle, because space is very limited, my cooking kit is in an ammo box and this consists of a gas stove, pot, kettle plates ect, but I rarely use it as I hate wasting time cooking and eating when I could be detecting lol.. I don't recall you mentioning a GPS or a locator beacon like SPOT? I have a handheld GPS, but these days use the one on my mobile to record finds spot. If I hunted the remote areas like you guys have in Oz, I think I would carry both a GPS and a SPOT, plus a map and compass... Again, really interesting video, and I do have a little 4x4 envy! lol

Thanks so much @Peter Evans I have definitely put a bit of thought into how I wanted my patrol setup over the years and everything in there now today has come down to being an essential item, without carrying too much weight. Wow it sounds like you have definitely fitted your Suzuki Vitara out with everything you need also. They are such a great little 4x4 and I must admit with fuel prices the way they currently are, I am a little jealous as to how much I have to spend fuelling the patrol, just to get from site to site detecting😅 I also used to carry a hand-held GPS but growing up on a farm and spending most of my life exploring the Australian bush an outback we have here, I'm very confident of not getting lost when venturing to new areas. Also for recording my detecting finds, I use a GPS location setting on my camera. That way when I take a photo of anything special coming out of the ground, it records my coordinates for future reference. I decided not to add the extra weight and carry any recovery gear in the patrol either mate, I spent years running a local 4x4 club and out every weekend in the bush with my 4wd. So these days I generally know what tracks or holes I can get through and what to stay away from, so I don't get stuck😅 Thanks again for watching Peter and I am really glad you enjoyed this video🙂⛏️

@@DigItDetecting Fuel over here is nudging the equivalent of $3 AUD per litre and looking like it will climb higher with the events in Ukraine, so it is a big factor on what vehicle I use...Add to that the Government is trying to price diesel vehicles off the road with high annual Road Tax, so smaller SUVs or pick-ups with smaller diesels are very popular... I used to drive all over the UK deer stalking and fishing, and one of the reasons. I took my metal detecting was that I would do it relatively local to my home...

I love this video! You are so smart and talented! That's one helluva set up you have under the hood of your car. I didn't even know all that could be done. This really shows your love for metal detecting and you take care of your stuff a lot better than some! I'll catch you on the next. I'm hoping the damn lockdown will end soon. They know there's no need to try to put us on lockdown. I for one refuse to be cooped up in the house 24-7. They ain't talking away my freedom or anything else. I personally don't own a gun, I collect knives. But my uncle has an arsenal. If the zombie apocalypse ever happens I'm going to his house. 😂😂😂💖

Thankyou so much Julie Griffin, working and tinkering with cars is what I have always loved doing. I used to build custom car show boots, full of sound systems and all. I absolutely loved it but unfortunately my body can't handle the work day in, day out anymore. Still nice to tinker at home when and where i can though. Omg...I love that, I only wish I could live in America and have an arsenal of mighty fine weapons! My second favourite hobby growing up on the farm, was shooting with my brother! There wasn't a bird left on that farm after we got guns, I don't think many birds even flew over head of our property in case me or my brother nailed them with the guns!....kids hey😅 Thanks again for watching Julie and I am really glad you enjoyed! Can't wait to see you on that next adventure very soon😁😊

@@DigItDetecting I can just see y'all shooting the birds. My brother was that bad with the BB gun. My mom was a crack shot! She couldn't hit the side of the barn with a pistol but she was hell with a rifle! My granddad used to say she could shoot a gnat off a turd behind a log at 500 paces. She probably could too. 😆

Haha thats awesome @Julie Griffin, sounds like she was hell of a shot with a rifle in hand. Growing up on a farm, My brother and I always had guns, motorbikes, bow and arrows and cars to drive around the paddocks. We definitely had alot of fun and lots of great memories from when I was a kid. ...my parents always say how surprising it is that my brother and I are still alive! We got up to alot of mischief😆😆

@@DigItDetecting oh I can imagine! Especially if you were anything like my brother and I were. We were a rough pair too. Everyone thought that he and I were twins but they were 2 years older than I am. Now only my oldest sister and I are left. As you would say. Ahh bugger. My brother and I got on famously but she and I got along about as well as oil and water. We had a fight one time, or rather she jumped me and started whaling on me, well she hit me so hard she gave me a concussion. I couldn't remember anything after that so I asked my oldest sister. "You kicked her ass is what happened!" She said. I was kind of proud of myself cause she could hit like a man and strong as an ox. The things we remember.

Nicely done @Mike Kennedy and if I were to suggest one, then it would have to be the XP Mi-4 to buy first. The 35 pro is amazing also but I have heard a few bad reviews with others having issues. No known issues with the xp that I have seen as yet though. Best of luck and happy hunting mate👍⛏
