As a child of the 70's I gotta agree with Kiss being the most influential band because they were everywhere and they were like superheroes for a while. If the question was guitar players then Eddie wins hands down, imo.

This series is fire 🔥 Before watching, I like Aerosmith and although I don't care for Kiss, I value them.

Hey is it me does any think Bad Company sounds American? And forget they are English? Just a silly kinda random thought…
@elfman517620 күн бұрын
Its weird because some of my favorite musicians have an accent while speaking but not when recording Elton and Ozzy for example But Bad Company is Brittish

That's a great idea for a show! thanks.

How about Americans that sing with a British accent? Ministry With Sympathy is the first one that comes to mind

Kiss is the band the made me a lifelong rock/ metal fan when I was a boy in the 70s, but I have to agree that Van Halen’s sound was more influential in the long run. Bands still take visual or theatrical cues from Kiss, but nobody tries to sound like them.

That guy that popped in for a cameo, who is that does he have a channel?
@LairoftheAlchemist14 күн бұрын
That's Tony Dio, he doesn't have his own channel but appears on a lot of peoples channels as a guest. Great guy that knows a ton about metal.

As a kid in the 70's an older neighbor boy first showed me the KISS stuff. I thought they looked frightening and the music wasn't very good. I give them lots of credit for being so popular but they took it from Alice Cooper and I always liked his music better. Final thought, best KISS was with Vinnie Vincent, and they didn't have any ego space to share with him, unfortunately.

Kiss, Aerosmith & Ted Nugent had very little influence in the UK. I’d say over here the biggest influence of US hard artists bands would have been Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen & Alice Cooper. & surprisingly Suzi Quattro.

Love some Suzie! Is Skynyrd hard rock? Yes the had lotta songs that are somewhat heavy but they are in my opinion (lived in ATL GA all my 55 yrs) the best true southern rock band ever. Heavy at times and red neck/good ol’ boys funkified blues rock at times.

No, will have to check them out.

What about Mountain? Way before the ones you guys mentioned. Leslie West was a very influential guitarist 👍 and Heavy
@LairoftheAlchemist18 күн бұрын
I would have listed the First Mountain album/Leslie West album but that came out in 69

Heavy in more ways than one

Ace Frehley influenced lots of people to be guitarists,many who became technically more proficient than him,yet not many actually had the unique style nor longevity.

I am a late 70's early 80's kid! My first music was given to me by a family friend gave me a vinal of KISS Alive 2 & D-Platinum albums. Since then I have Always Loved KISS when they are Live and Not in Studio! When I grew a few years alder I heard Alive 1 and was totally Blown away! 🙂 But still hearing the studio tracks I feel are boring, and blagh.. "HTH" is decient though.. Weird for me though.. Van Halen I first heard in 84. But I did not apprecieate them until the 90's. I ONLY Like the Roth rears though, before Eddie sold out and became the backstabber that he was. A Great guitarist, but quite overrated as well, R.I.P. though! A Great Loss he is though. Classic VH is Important!

Kiss...? OMG. So overrated band, music for the children.
@Starman2112ofKings19 күн бұрын
Really? If they are so overrated why then like Martin said do so many musical acts from many genres say that KISS were a big influence of what they do. Look at the stage shows (pyro, lights etc…) for just about anybody in music even today. All are influenced by what KISS did for 50 years. 😝

I'm not the biggest Kiss fan but it's impossible to understate how massive they were in States in the 70s. They were literally everywhere and anyone who was a teenager at that time listened to them.
