In the climactic scene in Manhunter (1986), the detective crashes through the window to save a potential victim as Inagaddadavida blares in the background. Great movie, later remade as Red Dragon, I believe.

From heaviest on top, down to less heavy, with some comments. To get something actually heavy on list, my list includes any type of official release that has more than 3 songs. 1. Tyrant - 1978 Rehearsal 2. Pentagram - 1973 Demo 3. Manilla Road - Underground - Only at this point things start to get uncompromisingly heavy 4. Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come 5. Kiss - Double Platinum - God of Thunder is very heavy song for it's time, without it Kiss wouldn't have come close to the list. Double Platinum has all the Kiss's heaviest songs of the time, and proportionally has more heavier songs than the other Kiss albums, also the versions are mostly heavier than the originals, despite Detroit Rock City being nerfed. Destroyer would make it on the list below this, but I consider that double entry in spirit. 6. Sir Lord Baltimore - Sir Lord Baltimore 7. Iron Rage - Iron Rage 1 - First (in the order of least heaviest to heaviest) record on the list that's actual Heavy Metal, also equally heavy throughout, not just 1-2 heavier songs among less heavy songs like many other records. 8. Bloodrock - Bloodrock 2 - Song D.O.A. rises it to the list 9. Dead Boys - We Have Come for Your Children - Made it to the list only because of song Son of Sam, otherwise it's only slightly heavier compared to typical Hard Rock of the time. 10. Iron Butterfly - Live - Sneaked that one on the list, the heavy songs are really from the 60s. Interesting challenge, ranking below this gets much more difficult. There's either Hard Rock that's barely heavy and about as heavy compared to each other, or records that have one heavier song but the rest is not heavy at all, or records that have songs that have only some heavy parts, wimpy vocals are problem with a few records. Some of the bands that would have been close to making the list with their 60s songs had wimped-out starting from the -70 or earlier.

My favorite Judas Priest album! It really fulfilled the band’s initial goal of bringing a sound to the masses that was both heavy and accessible at the same time. It brought heavy metal to the masses, and I love every song on it! 1. Rapid Fire 2. Breaking the Law 3. Metal Gods 4. Grinder 5. Living After Midnight 6. You Don’t Have to Be Old to Be Wise 7. The Rage 8. Steeler 9. United

Great show guys, I am not usually one for getting into "newer bands" the one band I have to mention is Mothership from Dallas, TX. They came out in 2011. I just happened to see them open for COC, Crowbar and the Obsessed. I was blown away by them and have been listening to them ever since. They are worth a listen if you are not already familiar with them.

Great chat, but I think the next question is, two-fold, does Spotify make money? What have they reported in each of that last 15 years? Next, what should the price be? I wonder if heavy usrs, those feeling guilty about the artists' pay... should there be some sort of $40 a month patron level. Maybe there are even perks. But I'm sure Daniel would say, maybe, but set that against the tens of millions who want it free. So bottom line, what should the price be? Especially if there's one price fits all.

Interesting point and I don't know the answer, I think they have been losing money or just breaking even. I do think at some point it will have to become more expensive or at least have a tiered system where maybe you pay more and somehow get more. After people being on streaming for so many years they might be willing to pay more or upgrade. Just as a note...Spotify paid out 9 billion to the record industry last year.

VH was only the last 2 yrs of the 70’s and then mainly into the 80s. This was the most influential band of the 70s, wasn’t it? Most influential band of the 70s was KISS. I started playing guitar and was in a band all because of KISS. I never bought another Van Halen album after their first one - until 5150 with Sammy. DLR could not carry a tune live if his life depended on it. When he almost knocked his nose off, live on Jimmy Kimmel, that pretty much summed up his career.

Kiss is the band the made me a lifelong rock/ metal fan when I was a boy in the 70s, but I have to agree that Van Halen’s sound was more influential in the long run. Bands still take visual or theatrical cues from Kiss, but nobody tries to sound like them.

I definitely used streaming to rediscover bands I already knew, but had lost touch with… I was able to go down several rabbit holes and expand my music library - but I also have bought the CDs that I really liked, so I do have them on hard copy. I have a lot more on my iPhone - I have a whole music library in my hand. I have discovered new bands as well, but more often it’s my comfort bands that I enjoy listening to.

Sorry, but this digital and streaming of music has made music worthless. People that consume music this way do not appreciate it or spend time with it. Just click individual songs and if it doesn't give immediate graduation, click to something else. And you say the artists don't get paid the way they should with streaming...of course they don't. This is the reason millions of people stream music BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. if artists received proper royalties for their music with streaming, you'd see more people buying physical media again.

I've paid a lot of attention to this, and I've really found that a high percentage of the time, streaming creates "flavor of the moment" songs/bands. Very disposable as there is zero longevity. Blame it on the convenience of streaming, but it's a constant motion of "on to the next one". Rarely does anyone fully absorb music over a long period of time.

I love this album. For one thing, it's more "raw" in it's recording. It was recorded as a band (everything sounds more equal in the mix without the guitars being pushed way up above the other instruments; it's more equally integrated musically), there doesn't sound like there is any studio "tricks" or enhancements, again it's more "raw" sounding. Just 1-year later everything changed for JP, it's just great to have captured them in this way. Great review!

Streaming services are how most folks listen to music in 2025, just like in the 90s it was CDs, in the 80s it was cassettes and the 70s it was vinyl heavy. You keep up with the times or get left behind. 20 years from now Streaming will be looked at as antiquated or old school.

Great video. I stream a lot of stuff because of convenience, but I almost always buy the physical product too for play at home. In another of Pete’s videos, he mentions how hard it is now to play physical media in your car due to lack of CD players. Without streaming, I’d be hard pressed to listen to music while driving - and that would be a big loss. I do worry about people who just stream for individual songs, though. The album as an art form seems to be going the way of the dodo. And to me, at least, it remains mostly about albums. One last thing: I think KZfaq Music is the best streaming service, if you call it that. It has so many relatively obscure albums that other services don’t.

The problem with having such an ease of discovering new music is that it creates such a short attention span in the listener because they're always hunting for something new, and abandoning the music they already have because something else grabbed their attention. There's tons of music all competing for your attention, and there's not enough time to give it all the attention it deserves. Gone are the days when you'd get an album and you'd sit with it and just digest the hell out of it. I really miss those days, that's why I'm tapping out of music collecting. There's always going to be too much music, and I feel done with trying to keep up with it.

I bet it will be extremely rare buying cd's and vinyls generations after us. streaming is by far the easiest way to listen to music and that will always win in the end. With all these smart devices it will be even more easy and popular. You just say a song and it plays automatically on your speakers and maybe we just need to think of a song in the future, who knows. :D I just need to look around me, I have hardly any friends who buys albums unless they are collectors.
