So true! Patara over at Appalachia's Homestead has a series in her playlist called "Would You Starve?" where she does 30 days of cooking over an open fire, even on the rainy days. It's very helpful, like Jinnie.

That's why I opt for mainly plant based foods for long term storage. Undercooked meats are definitely a health problem, but undercooked veggies and grains may not be as palatable but they're not going to kill you 😁.

Keep extra duck tape...it fixes everything. Ask my son. When he was 5, I blew the radiator hose on my car and he kept telling me to just use duck tape, Mom cause it fixes everything. It was one of those moments that you just never forget because you laugh so hard you cry.

If you have a cesspool you can simply dump water in the toilet bowl in order to flush. Leave buckets outside to collect rainwater, dump in toilet, this doesn't need to be purified for flushing purposes!

Im almost 67 and live in a 4 unit apartment building. I've been preparing for 8 years. My latest goal is to get to know the 4 guys in my building. So we can take care of each other. Only one knows I prep. I've known him the longest. I'm friends with the father and son below me and just met the guy next to them. All seem to be good guys. The upstairs neighbor that knows I prep is the only one who's been in my apartment, to feed my cats when I'm away. Anyway...the mom/grandma in me wants to take care of everyone, after my own family. Darn it😂😂!

My roommate knew I was preparing for Y2K if the bugs of a reset were not fixed before the calendar reset to 1900 disrupting everything. And I wanted to be like the Good Samaritan to this tenant and another one but I never paid close enough attention to why the Good Samaritan never brought the guy home with him? I thought perhaps the Good Samaritan was out of town but this was false a false assumption of mine, well this tenent got drunk one night threatening to break down my door because he spent all his money on liquor. Became violent. I felt sorry for him before this happened, not knowing he was relying on me to feed his addiction by not grocery shopping for food, but buying booze, and another guy i gave a place to stay lied to me about having a job hoped to fool me into supporting him and punched a hole in my wall and had to have some one in touch with authorities to throw him out of my apartment. They were so respectful in the begining but were covert narcissists. If your neighbor is not prepared to prep to lean on you to feed him, the word of God teaches that the Good Samaritan NEVER brought the stranger to his own household but put him up in a hotel room and paid his room and board to the inn keeper. But it was up to the one he helped recover to pay his own expenses or go on his way. You want to be a Good Samaritan NEVER bring the stranger home with you.

I have two potty chairs I bought for my Mom and Dad back in 2014. Thank God above I didn’t sell them. I got tired of moving them out of my way in my basement. I’m so happy I didn’t. One for pee, and one for poo….and gobs and gobs of plastic grocery bags..😄

I have two toilet seats for buckets. Mistakingly bought 1000 tall trash bags for garbage that are worthless for garbage but will be great for my potties. I have 2 cats and I over buy kitty litter so plenty of that for the potties.

Health issues pop up as we age. If the brain starts failing, the body can’t receive the instructions. Thing’s we’ve known for decades are now difficult to recall. It’s just what we have to deal with, folks! So, let’s do what we’re able to do and pray for guidance.🙏🏻. Don’t hang up your apron…or shovel just yet. Keep on Truckin’ 😊

Organization....not so much. I know I have beefed up my medical supplies. However, I really cut the base of my thumb while gardening and ended up rinsing the cut off in cold water, then wrapping it in a paper towel. It kept bleeding so I eventually found some extra large bandaids. I was concerned that my food supply needed to be reorganized. Now I know my medical supplies should be my top priority.

I have been helping out a friend with medical issues and now it is restocking the home. We just had a talk today about all of this and then went out to get a few items that were not there or lacking in supply of. Then I come home to find this video. I cannot say enough about trying to get a good stock up and know where things are at to be prepared. A little toolbox by the chair is added protection just in case. Great info.

It is a real eye opener when you are tasked with taking care of a wound. I never realized how understocked we were when my husband had a wound on his backside that needed to heal. He got a burn and I learned about sterile saline, medi-honey and having lots and lots of sterile pads and medical tape.
