The scariest dude I ever met was a Native American VietNam vet who was a dog trainer. Taught me to handle my shepherds and we became friends. Soft spoken, but intense. None of the crazy crap. Only once I saw him lose his temper. In the park where we trained, some idiot picked up his 7-year old off a swing and shook him, yelling at him. That dude just walked up to that idiot and told him to chill. The idiot didn't think much of that, dropped his kid and tried the usual shove in the chest. My trainer grabbed that fool, who was twice his size, and threw him to the ground like he was a pillow. Then told him to relax and go easy on kids... without screaming. Then walked back and continued our drills like nothing. That's when I knew why dogs followed his lead--they must have sensed some pack leader stuff.

I think you and Charlie have it all wrong. You're both right in that it's all stupid and a scam. You're wrong in what the "instructors"/scammers are trying to accomplish. They are trying to put on a boot camp. People who have been through a boot camp-style process understand exactly what is going on. The instructors are trying to recreate the environment of notorious boot camps in their entirety. These boot camps use a bunch of techniques to weed out people who don't need to be there, mold people who can be better, and prepare everyone for the stress of combat situations. A lot of the times these people also have something to prove to themselves because if they don't make it, they fail in their goal of serving their country. In more brutal military special ops schoold, the washout rate is higher on purpose. The schools are harder for the reason of seeing who has the mental fortitude to do the jobs these units are called to do. Failing something like that means losing an opportunity that couldve gone to someone who deserved it "more". On top of that, you just failed and didn't have what it took. A lot of mental strength is required to push through. But it's all by design. There is an allure to going to some of the hardest schools/academy/boot camps even just to be able to say "yeah, i did that. I accomplished what I thought was impossible. It took a lot of me to do it, and wanted to wuit. But i didnt and pulled through." These scammers are trying to (pitifully) to make people feel like they can claim that feeling of accomplishment by miming the tough aspects of boot camp. The "harder" the scammers fabricate it to be, the more these people feel like they are getting to "develop" memtally. In reality, every one of these guys has the $10,000 they spent in the back of their heads the entire time. The tough guys who go to try and inflate their ego even more, try even harder to seem tougher than the instructor hoping to be seen as "the most alphaest" male. In reality the entire time the guy in the video is acting like he is being defiant, he is hoping that the instructors applaud him for being "so alpha". But the whole idea for the boot camps is to break down egos and build everyone back up so they can work as a team, grow as a unit, and persevere. But clearly, they take the most cliché aspects of boot camp and do a piss poor reenactment with zero legitimate goal in the end for the recruits other than to get their money's worth. They utilize so many techniques like group punishments and intimidation but they all lose their effect dramatically. Ultimately, boot camps and such can make people tougher. Lots of people who go through military style academies have a degree of mental fortitude that can translate into a lot of aspects of their life after the fact. The thing is, no amount of money and acting can recreate that feeling of being a REAL boot camp. a boot camp that is used solely to "make people millionaires" is juxtaposing to the purpose of a boot camp. So many people in the military do great things, get out and unfortunately do dumb shit and get into addictions and die early or alone. It's not to say these people didn't at one point have mental fortitude, but it's to say that it's up to everyone whether or not theyre gonna utilize their life events to become better people and establish a good work ethic, boot camp or not. No amount of money wasted on a scam like this will get you that.

Former Infantry Drill Sergeant here. We have a reputation, but if you look at any number of real military training footage, be it Marine Corps Boot Camp, Navy SEAL training, or Ranger School, you'll see very few instructors that act like the overgrown steroidal babies in these clips. "Instructor resumes, good." Yeah, a couple of ex-SEALs, used-to-be Raider and Aviation Marines, a former SWAT officer, nothing overly impressive in the grand scheme of things, when you consider other KZfaqrs who offer positivity and such after decades of service in military special operations. These guys look like they checked the boxes, got their token "cool guy" service, and decided to translate that into a lucrative cosplay where they get to be the stereotype of the military instructor while collecting massive paychecks. No, real military instructors can and will be hard on you, but in the end it all serves a purpose. As a Drill Sergeant, I didn't need to berate, intimidate, insult, or threaten any of my Trainees, because I knew two things: I'd earned what I'd earned over my years in service, and I had the backing of the US Army so long as I remained fair and ethical. If a kid didn't make it, they didn't make it and would be back on the streets within a few weeks or months. Make it through 14 weeks (now 23 or so) of training, earn your Blue Cord, and move on to the real challenge that is the real-world Army. Ranger, Special Forces, Delta, and other schools/selection programs are much the same. If you want it, you endure and earn it. Training is always the easy part. Doing is where it gets hard. Paying $1000s to be treated like complete poo by what amounts to the most toxic "instructors" ever is stupid.

All these men look to be in all sorts of physical condition some look like they work out a lot and some look like overweight slobs that haven’t ran a mile since high school and their ages seem to vary most of them middle aged .
