I mean K-pop stans honestly want to get mad when you tell them their faves aren't vocally all that. Like it's fine? They're not trying to be anyway? The package of a K-pop star isn't trying to be Sohyang to begin with because 1. you're not marketing to the Hallmark channel. 2. You're marketing to young pop listening teens and young adults. 3. You're PERFORMERS who sing, not SINGERS who perform. Plenty of them are more dancers anyway. So like don't take it personally k-pop fans, but also don't get so huge headed. Like if your fave sounds great? cool. But before you diss some other artist to pump up your fave, remember your favorite has like 4 other people to relieve them so they can get away with dodgy breath control and so on. But that said being vocally superior in terms of technique doesn't always mean everything. I mean there were more vocally technical singers than Utada Hikaru, but she is the queen of J-pop for a reason. NO ONE's voice is as warm and nurturing and just cozy and light as hers. Sometimes a SPECIAL voice isn't just high notes and range. SOMETIMES people with high notes and range have nothing special to their voices at all.

I'm a very big Swiftie and i absolutely agree, Taylor is pretty inconsistent and unpredictable. She has days when i'm like: ''Did Whitney's spirit possessed her that day?'' and she has days when i'm like: ''Girl, WTF was that?'' I absolutely agree with you that with Folklore, Evermore and Midnights she found a style that fits her perfectly and uses more her strengths like her amazing lower register, vocal transitions, and playing with dynamics and emotions. She's a decent belter and sometimes she can really surprise but it never was her biggest strength, so i'm happy now she belts less but focuses more on overall control and stablity. Taylor's going on tour in a month, she's touring for the first time since 2018 and she didn't perform a full set since end of 2019, so i'm very interested how she will sound like. I expect slightly shaky start but more she will perform the better she will sound. I don't know how much you watch of her performances but i can tell that during start of an era and promotional performances she's very unpredictable but when she's on tour she sounds much better and shows much more control and better technique. I remember you said in one video something like: there are 2 types of singers: 1) singers who needs proper rest after performances and 2) singers that needs to perform consistently to be in a good vocal shape. And Taylor is in the 2nd category, she needs to perform consistently or she will become very unpredictable. I really think Taylor should visiting vocal coach again because the potential she has in unbelievable. The problem is that Taylor never had any intentions to become a powerful vocalist, she always wanted to be a storyteller and songwriter and artist in general. She worked on her voice to be able to give a good show and when she achieved this she stopped working, which is such a shame. So i really think she should working with vocal coach again, it's not just her, EVERY SINGLE ARTIST SHOULD HAVE A VOCAL COACH!

It's not wrong to say she uses it. But people act like she has never sung live, and been able to dance at the same time, before. Jisoo always has been a better vocalist than Jennie, Kpop fans need to stop basing their arguments in vocal support cause most of them doesn't even know what is that about or have a mistakenl opinion. Jisoo is a better vocalist due to her registers overall are more developed, she's more consistent and some other things included. I think it's the contrary, Jennie is very inconsistent because she has a very bad (or nonexistent) technique. However she has a lot of potential and it's unfortunate that she doesnt know how to use her voice better. She could be as good as Rosé in my opinion if she had proper training and understanding of her voice For Jisoo i don't really know, i think she could work on her tension, she's very tense when belting and she should probably open her mouth more to have better resonnance

About Little Mix's solos: 1. They said they won't release music at the same time to avoid competition, comparison and (probably to sell better since mixers will focus on one artist at a time) 2. They're perfectionists so probably don't want to rush their creative process (like the ex member did) and release a single with no proper concept for her solo debut album and era. 3. Leigh-Anne confirmed we can expect new music this year in an interview at the Brits. 4. Jade an Perrie will propobly follow Leigh, as she's the one who seems to be releasing music first. I guess it'll be: Leigh, then Jade and Perrie last.

Ariana's vibrato is so gorgeous!! Also to the first point, it's absolutely true that lip sync is necessary in many situations even though it's good to be able to tell when they are singing live vs when they are lip syncing-many times it's quite obvious actually. Yeah, Beyonce's an AMAZING and underrated vocalist but still she lip syncs sometimes when she wants to perform and dance like crazy-it's very hard to sing and dance. Or sometimes they lip sync to protect their voice on tours and things like that which is also completely fine. As long as they are able to sing live that's all that matters.

1 - Some people really don't know the difference between "not singing live" and "not singing well". 2 - I love Rihanna discography and she can be a very capable vocalist when she wants to, but the performance was weak 3 - There are voices that I prefer listening to rather than some technically developed ones 4 - I just hope the marketing for the solos are great to create some hype after the break 5/6 - I think musicality is an important part of it, there are vocalists that don't use a lot of vibrato but are still great to listen to 8 - Inconsistency always bugs me 9 - Gugudan's Nayoung and WJSN's Yeonjung also sound like Taeyeon 10 - I don't like none of the songs, but Nxde is slightly better. I still think the aesthetics (outfits and MV) and "Reset" are the best part of the comeback 11 - Like I said before, Jennie bugs me. There are performances that make me believe her technique is more well rounded than Jisoo's, but Jisoo is far more consistent 12 - Vision is nearly perfect, Fairytale is one of their best songs and their intro and outro are top tier as always. I’m the Biggest Beyoncé fan but the drunk in love vocal run she did at the end of that performance was in fact pre-recorded. Now she did sing 95% of the song live and her ad libs while she was walking down the stage was live but as the stage person was hooking her up to the stand that lifted her in the air, there was a Quick adjustment in her demeanor and after she sang the last ad-lib of “we be all night” and the way her head was moving left to right as the water started flying everywhere and she was elevated into air. The quality of the vocals was TOO clean and no waver in pitch was happening the way it would have had she been singing live. When you’ve watched 100s of Beyoncé tour concerts, love award shows, festivals performance, tv performances and even fan recorded shows, he begin to notice Beyoncé’s pattern and strategies of how she sings live and certain songs or parts of songs she chooses to lip sync to.

yes yes yes. about natural talent. it's annoying but it's the truth. individual uniqueness will always make some better than others. this doesn't just stop at voices. but it's everything. that's why you can be the hardest worker, have the most experience and still not get as far as someone else. as upsetting as that can be i think it's so fascinating. that we're all just genetically better in some things. we don't ask to be we just are. it's very interesting. and it's part of why we have celeb cuktire because not just anyone can sound like that, act like that, move like that or look like that. also i will say that i don't think taylor has ever been half as unpredictable and inconsistent as people say. maybe during her first years but she has consistently improved throughout each era. i think she's just human, she's been through things that affect the voice directly. her voice has taken years to mature and bring out this depth in her tone and since singing was never her focus it naturally would take her longer to build her technique. i mean she was only 16 at the start. in a brand new company just doing what she could. she usually sounds just fine. she's just not explosive and her strength lies in calmness. her lower register, her breath control. she's not a belter. but she's comfortable enough in her voice. i would say she's no different to any other decent vocalist.

Miyeon trained in YG and was originally supposed to be a part of a 9 member lineup (with the Blackpink members) called PinkPunk, which would be YG's SNSD (Girls Generation). It wouldn't surprise me if she was trained in a similar vein while at YG, and later, Cube.

What is your opinion on Taylor Swift's vocals during the Fearless Tour?
@richmaxmchalliwchester1984
@richmaxmchalliwchester1984 Жыл бұрын
First of all I'm a big Swiftie! Fearless Tour was 2009 - 2010 - there was definitely a lot improvement from previous years (2006 - 2008), she had few lucky supported A4s and Bb4s, but still pretty inconsistent. We should be thankful that she didn't has any vocally challenging songs in her catalog at the time because she simply wouldn't be able to handle it, but it was a really good start for her vocal journey. I was just going down KZfaq watching random videos of Fearless Tour one day because i was bored and that was the first time i heard a vibrato from Taylor, again it was only very few lucky moments, but still that vibrato sounded great, she should use it more. Vibrato is very rare from Taylor so i was pleasently surprised.

Yes I really needed this 🤍 I do agree that people presume most lipped vocals to be live. Excuses like "You can hear breathing" or "The mic is on", like you said, do not work. Breathing can be pre-recorded to make it sound live. That first Beyoncé performance was very obviously lipsynced... it isn't humanely possible, even for Beyoncé, to sing with that much control while flapping her legs around and doing that much movement and dancing. It was kind of hard to tell with the second Beyoncé performance though. Edit: The second performance (Drunk In Love) is DEFINITELY lipped, now that I think about it. The water was spraying all over the place; the fact that the mic didn't pick up any additional sound whatsoever proves that it was off the whole time.

Yeah I liked it a lot as well and I felt like ir set her apart from everyone else. I do think because she was so chesty in her approach early on she really struggled with her higher registers. Now she has more ease in her upper register and it doesn't take as much out of her especially since she's getting older and probably trying to preserve her voice. I like that she dips into that approach occasionally though. It was nice to hear in Nights Into Days and it's good to know she can still go there if she wants/needs to. Hopefully we'll hear more of it.

Taylor's voice really is inconsistent,but it's gotten much more stable and better since 1989 (maybe,or is it Rep?) era. Not shaky,sometimes still pitchy,can hit high notes with ease now,still killing it with them low notes everytime,and still a queen at belting. For me,the only eras where she performed bad vocally are Debut,Fearless,and Red era. I don't think she still has the same vocal coach,but her voice has gotten a lot better,all she needs to do now is to have confidence (Maybe it's just me but if u pay attention to videos where she performs at a show where there's only a couple of people and those videos where she performs something at a concert,whether it's a surprise song,an acoustic version of it,or something,u can see that she looks more comfortable singing to places with fewer people [Not that she performs badly on her concerts.] (Im not rlly good at English but if u get what im saying,then there's no need to comment about my grammar.😽)

She's been treated well by her team (so far) by being booked and invited to big events in America and the UK. You'll have to be patient with them as this is new to them and you'll have to wait if you're a perrie and jade Stan because they expressed that they won't release anything at the same time to avoid the messy media putting them against each other on the charts etc (although they still will put them against each other no matter what) I think it's lovely of them to wanna support each other and let each other shine on their own, true friendship 💜 I can't wait to see what Leigh Anne releases.

The GP loved, they are still trying to learn choreography. The halftime show was CLEAN visually, goes with her being pregnant, choreography on point, the setlist were great, the production was GREAT, the stages are revolutionary, it will probably make room for new stages like this on the field. And people who comment on Rihanna or her concerts have never seen any of her concerts. The Rock In Rio one had BARELY any dance, or stage production, nor big screen, and it's one of the best shows EVER.

I mean I think there is a time and place where going outside of the " technical standard " is beneficial. I mean technique doesn't really have birth roots in genres like Rock, jazz, blues, etc. Yeah vocal standards are always going to sound okay or nice in them, but sometimes certain characteristic flaws can be interesting, creative, purposeful or sound better. I mean plenty of traditional old vocal styles build their own technique on going against what we see as " appropriate " vocal technique. I think we also put certain people on too high of a pedestal. Yes you can hear when someone is obviously more vocally skilled, but . . . Look at Whitney Houston, vocal olympian. Now look at her national anthem. Unless you're delusional, it's fucking terrible. The same for Gaga's and Mariah's. Meanwhile look at Cher's , Cher is obviously not vocally on their level but she mops the floor with all of them by comparison on these performances. Whitney tried too hard to be different, weaving a tapestry of mix-matched vocals that just didn't go together and felt more like a KZfaq challenge for showing off her vocals rather than performing a piece to the best of its capabilities. Instead it was " let me show everything my voice can do. " Mariah made it too sexy and Gaga performed it as a ballad. Cher on the other hand UNDERSTANDS an assignment and goes for how to perform the piece to the best of her ability. It's full, it's rich, it's depth-filled, it hits peaks and climaxes and even with a deep voice she manages to make her voice SOAR. An anthem is meant to be inspiring and empowering, she nailed that. Having the ability to hit everything and the techniques to do so easily give you the potential to be a better singer than ______, but they don't always mean you're better because there is more than just range and technique, etc. When it comes to the importance of what makes a good singer. And in some cases being able to hit everything makes you lazy and predictable and serves as an excuse for you not to have to be creative for your vocalizations.

Rihanna sang a lot live and even got the her lyrics wrong, but also used pre-recorded probably because the instability being up there. And that wouldn't be something new on the halftime show because basically EVERY artist goes there and lip syncs, Beyoncé, Bruno, Mj, Madonna, Katy Perry, Mary, Jlo and Shakira couldn't tell nobody they were not lipsycing. Rihanna does not lipsync at her live shows, so she's not used to it.
