About OFF GRID with DOUG and Stacy
In 2010 we decided to sell everything and build a log cabin on 11 acres. We have lived in the log cabin for a decade now with no solar power or wind power plus zero public utilities. *Food harvesting *fermenting the harvest *food preservation
*Holistic Remedies like Grandma made *How to make money and live this life
*storing food in a root cellar *DIY Build projects

Ants can swim! (ok float or build living bridges). During floods they will create a living floating mat. The workers will even try to save eggs. I personally have experienced this in Sarasota Fl. Having to walk in knee deep flood waters during evacuation of siesta key/longboat key area.

Hey Fred, great to see you here. This idea is amazing. I have a story about feeling too relaxed whilst driving my new bees home!! Luckily no danger. But the smell of the air was just amazing and relaxing and I can easily see why this idea would work. Also for colder climates I am guessing it might help protect the hive too? I assume you could add some insulation to the bed area in winter.

Hey, big shout out to Doug and Stacy. I’m a fan of yours as well as Dr Leo. The good Dr won me over a few years ago and I now care for three Layens hives built from his plans. The bee bed is very interesting. I know that hanging out with my bees is my favorite activity these days. Btw.. Frederick Dunn is another of my YT favorites and he sent me to see this video.

If you're seriously going to be a beekeeper, ignore the misinformation on this channel and learn from legitimate beekeepers like university of Guelph, kamon Reynolds, or Bob Binney. All you'll do following these guys is kill hives and waste equipment. Not a single hive using their methods survives, and they propagate disease and predators. Their methods of catching local bees is a false premise because they are catching swarms from other managed beekeeper hives. The genetics are the same as all the other commercial and hobbit beekeepers. Anyone who understands the basics of drone mating and bee DNA and genetics laughs at the unscientific notions of sharashkin and antihygenic Stacey's. Sharashkin believes rubbing dead bees on his head prevents balding. It's all a scam. For the sake of protecting vulnerable bees, please don't follow their advice. They're making a living off of KZfaq and if people aren't actually using their methods, their nonsense won't be anything more than a harmless urban legend. If you actually try their methods, you'll kill bees a propagate dangerous sicknesses that could eventually wipe out all the bees Nationwide.

My family had a few of these only bigger with 2-3 beds, more like small cabins, in my childwood I slept in these things many summer nights; very smooth feeling, the bee air is the best, but I did use a small mattress, the bees feel if something is wrong with you, may it be you sick or have a disease and become very agitated if you lay directly on the wooden planks, so in the long run you will lose those hives due to their agitatated behavior. By the way I am from the eastern european block and we had a few thousand hives. Dan

That is a interesting concept to sleep with the honey bees. That enclosure is beautiful. That's great that it will hold 4 hives worth of bees. The stream sound is nice also. I'm so glad you're saving a lot of acres of the Ozarks. I saw how the loggers are hurting the top soil by sliding the logs down the hills instead of sliding them along the grade so the rain doesn't wash the top soil away. I had never heard of sleeping with bees. I might like that. Thanks for this video Dr. Leo and Doug!

One safety improvement is for a solid cover over the slats to prevent turning one while resting. Could be like smashing the side of a hive setting them off and laying down on top you could get several stings before you could even move away.

This is to cool. Great idea, I stand and watch my bees come and go often to hang out and watch them no matter the weather outside genius! Caught my 3rd swarm this year 2023 and I experienced the amount of air flow bees are capable of producing was incredible. I would compare it to a box fan on low and this was a really small swarm. So if you can put that many bees in a horizontal hive and hang out would be amazing!! You have to post some testimonials.

I hope there is 2/3rds concrete in those footings for storm proof stability. Here in Australia we have kangaroos and other animals that become clumsy and knock into fences and hives too, knocking them over needing truck ratchet straps to keep the hive closed and from breaking open if toppled onto the ground. The wet feet is the best idea from crawling insects , put some oil or something so that the water doesn't dry out. And water in the creek is fantastic location in warm weather the bees can drink. Screw a shelf in for your own hydration and tool needs. Awesome progress towards all climate hives.
