Excellent offering from the classic Motörhead line-up, which contains what is to me the definitive song by this band: "Stone Dead Forever"!
Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister - Thunder Bass & Raspy Vocals
"Fast" Eddie Clarke - Blazing Guitar Riffs
"Philthy Animal" Taylor - Pounding Skins & Kicks
Songs included:
1. Leaving Here
2. Stone Dead Forever
3. Dead Men Tell No Tales
4. Too Late, Too Late
Dedicated to my friend Paulo "Mourahead" Cruz! Este é para ti man!

I now realise how privileged I was to see the original lineup in the early '80s. Three fabulously talented guys and for me this is arguably their greatest live recordings. They will 'rock on' for ever.

I have to agree this recording is better than No Sleep Til Hammersmith, not only in terms of performance but of mix. We can only dream that one day somebody may find the complete tape of this gig in an archive somewhere and unleash it upon us. That would be a fantastic tribute to Lemmy.

The first time I heard this version of Leaving here was on a tape cassette of No Remorse-put out on Roadrunner. Not to rain on anybody's parade but it didn't have that stupid dubbed applause at the beginning and end. When I got a cd of No Remorse I noticed that-it's fake-they're playing in some small club and the record company (or somebody) dubbed fake arena applause in.
@TheMillieBurton
@TheMillieBurton 10 жыл бұрын
You reply suggests that you are unaware of just how popular Motorhead were in the U.K at the time this came out, the crowd noise may well have been dubbed in, in fact it's likely that a lot of it was redone in the studio. It was common practice at the time. But there was no way that it was recorded at some small club because Motorhead were selling big numbers of records and selling out venues like the Hammersmith & Birmingham Odeons capacity of about 3500 & 2500 respectively.
@slakinsam
@slakinsam 10 жыл бұрын
Millie Burton Actually I knew how popular they were-in a really vague way-when they toured the U.K. with Ozzy Osbourne THEY headlined over him. I have another cassette of Motorhead actually playing a relatively small club-my copys called Whats Words Worth-it's a bootleg that also goes under the name Live 1978 and it's also been released as Iron Fist and The Hordes From Hell. When they started out they were playing small clubs, and Leaving Here IS one of their earliest tunes...
@TheMillieBurton
@TheMillieBurton 10 жыл бұрын
What's words worth was recorded in Jan 78 and The Golden Years EP in 1980, in between they had two hit albums. I'm not arguing that Leaving Here is an old tune, it's a cover of an even older tune and they played it at their first gig in '75.. I'm not even arguing that the crowd noise on TGY sounds dubbed on. My only argument is that they were playing small clubs at the time it was recorded, they were not. My guess is that it was a hastily recorded effort (probably in the studio) designed to keep the momentum that the band had built up going (because I can find no info on where it was recorded) until the release of Ace of Spades. Both are great but you must hear a complete difference in the band in between the two recordings.
@lb_uk645
@lb_uk645 8 жыл бұрын
I politely disagree with your theory, and I'll explain why. To carry on from what Slankisam said, the original CD release of No Remorse ommitted Leaving Here but included Too Late Too Late from The Golden Years. That has applause during the intro and outro, although it's much lower in the mix than on The Golden Years. Also, it begins with a stray bass note from Lemmy, which doesn't appear on The Golden Years. So it would seem there was some "sprinkling of glitter" upon the tapes, but nothing to suggest the music itself was anything but live. One other thing to bear in mind regarding the possible deliberate faking of these tracks as live recordings; Motorhead were not the kind of band who would knowingly do such a thing. Can you imagine Lemmy, of all people, agreeing to go into a studio to re-record a bunch tracks with the intention of them being overdubbed with fake applause and sold to the fans as live recordings?
