This rescue was kind of surreal, as everyone is still on the beach, even the rescued mom seems to be confused why noone is panicking and running away.

Yes! Maybe we just witnessed the "Hundredth monkey effect" in action?! If so that would mean that all the seals now know that Naude is not an actual danger to them, only that it might hurt if they got something wrapped around them.

The crowd of seals don't charge or run, because they figured is yet another male seal forcing himself on a female.

What an ingenious strategy, Naude. Not only were the rest of the seals undisturbed but the release seal just casually ambled away, and paused as if to say 'nothing to see here folks'. That was by far one of the very best single handed capture-aid-release plans executed to date.

One of the awesome things about this is that these animals aren't even technically endangered. This is pure humanitarianism with a goal to stop the suffering of an animal

Wow, two years ago, and this is still an amazing video. The fact that Naude was able to be so close without scaring them is amazing. It's so cool that Naude was willing to spend so much time sneaking up on them so that he wouldn't disturb them is amazing too.

Maybe while he's sneaking along the beach or crouched down like that he just looks like a seal to them? They probably don't recognize his shape as a predator when he's lying and crawling along the beach.

Just amazing. The 45 minute wait, her finally falling asleep, Naude quietly capturing her......he was so stealth like that the others didn't even notice. Just amazing.

That was your most stealth capture and release yet. You did it all by yourself with little disturbance to the other seals. So well done!

That was probably the stealthiest save you've made. All the other seals remained calm, and when you cut the line and released her, she stayed close by, probably because of the babies. Great save👍👍 smooth as could be

Naude, this was such a VERY smooth and stealthy approach, net, removal and return!! This mom showed almost no trauma. I just love that her and her baby were not separated for long. Over an hour of creeping and crawling and yet you were so careful and gentle and mindful of the entire colony🥰

Naude! That was amazing incredible capture, rescue and release. How on earth you managed to pull that off without disrupting the colony is amazing. That was the ultimate sneak attack! You are a very patient man, Naude and it's great to know that you take so much care to plan the rescues.

This has to be my favorite video so far. It was so cool to see her start to take off but because her capture was so stealthy that the other seals were not alarmed, she immediately calmed down also. That was awesome!

The terrified seals running into the ocean was always the hardest part to watch. I love this new approach!!!! ❤️👏

That beach looks so smooth from far off but the close-ups show how rocky and rough it is. Naude crawled along it for 20 minutes or more with bare knees just to free that mother. Well done. Merry Christmas to her and merry Christmas to you, too, Naude.

Incredible patience and careful handling of these ocean dwellers. For me, it is a wonderful christmas gift you could ever give to people who care for these helpless creatures. It warms our heart watching you.

Incredibly awesome rescue!!! No disturbance, no complication. And after the rescue, the mom just stayed. Really great to see everything went so well. Super great, Naude! Hopefully the wound will soon heal completely.

I love rewatching this disentanglement, the respect for the cow and her calf, a solo engagement without the best tool, and being required to make quick decisions that are safe for the target, her pup, and her rescuer.

One of my all time favorite rescues. even though I already know the outcome, whenever I watch this rescue I always feel tense as Naude slowly works to free her. Wonderful rescue.

It's so crazy to see how chill the seals are if you're careful with your movements. As long as. They aren't spooked, they seem to be relaxed (for the most part)

I just happened to come across you this morning and here it is 11 pm and I can't seem to take my eyes off of your videos. There's a sense of great respect not only for the animal but for the men/women involved in doing this job. Let me just say thank you a hundred times because if it wasn't for people like you that go out and put animals, mammals, and even reptiles above ourselves to save them it's a great honor to see this and to know these people. God Bless You All. And let's be more mindful of the litter that we leave around, cuz it can be very harmful to another creature or child. #thebeauty of nature #lets all do our part.

This was a heart-stopping for me. I held my breath a few times! Watching Naude rescue her all by himself left me in tears. What an exceptional human being. I don't even have the words....... Kings aren't worthy to touch his feet. The entire team are earths angels.
