From those instructions you’ve got the panniers for the V7 iii rather than the newer 850 v7, v7 owner and they are indeed different frames

Just compared the special edition to the standard of the same year and unfortunately they have different exhaust/footpeg mounting brackets

thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention I just got the exact same special edition and was pondering adding Givi panniers which I reckon are simply not adapted to this model. Going for a different route with the Kriega US20 which appears to be easier to fit to the back of the saddle. Hoping sincerely that you can sort it out🙏

Think your conclusion is spot on the V7 special has more up swept pipes so reckon the pillion hangers are different. Check the oem parts catalogue of v7 stone against v7 special, the bikes are all but identical apart from a few styling cues such as the more up swept pipes. Hepco & Becker do luggage options for the v7 stone special.

Never had any issues fitting Givi stuff to any bike over the years. So there's most likely a change in hanger, should show it on parts diagram from dealers

The earlier models had different footrest hanger brackets to your model, definitely.

Whatever the problem I hope you get it sorted soon and easily.. always frustrating when things don’t fit..

Just cut about 100-200mm off the bracket at the end that does not fit and have a new piece welded on that will now meet up with the exhaust hanger, a simple L shaped bracket will do the job. Not worth messing about with returns and sourcing other options.

The Givi website says this kit is not suitable for the 2023 special edition.

You could try fitting the exhaust mount first, and see if there’s any amount of flex in the steel with the top mount. It’s surprising how many times things get bent slightly out of true after manufacture to transit to retail. Just an idea. Let us know how you get on!

If you fix lower fixing first, will the top bracket pick up one hole?

I've just had a look on the Guzzi website and to me it looks like the fixing for the exhaust hanger is slightly higher on the special edition than it is on either the standard stone or the V7special if you look at the fixing in relation to the rear footpeg. This would make sense because that arrow can is much more upswept that the standard exhaust.

Perhaps your bike is a 2024 model and the makers have omitted to mention minor changes to the bike in the rush to get it to dealers

Not sure my first comment worked (poss link inserted?). I have the same bike and it's great to see this on the channel. Mine was a 60th birthday present to myself after passing my test last summer. Tested the Triumph 900, which was a brilliant bike, but I've wanted a Guzzi since I had a model V7 as a kid, so had to be. Have thoroughly enjoyed my first 1500 miles on it. I am considering luggage and had assumed any V7 850 racks would fit albeit with smaller bags because of upswept exhaust. I was thinking SW-Motech but not now! I did find an Italian company; Bags & Bike ("bags-bike" should find them) who do a V7 Stone SE specific kit, which look reasonable value. I can't wait for better weather and many more miles.

This is really useful as I am pretty sure that the V7 is going to be my next bike and I will be needing luggage.

Givi's website states that kit isn't compatible with the 23 SE model

Givi website says not suitable for 2023 V7 special model. I assume you have been sent these frames.

Sorry to say I think it's the exhaust hangers they are different

*I've sent parts back to eBay for not fitting a bike.* When I've purchased cheap knock-offs, the part I receive was not made correctly. In an assembly line, each worker checks the work of the previous and tosses bad ones. But if each worker is working on one whole part at a time, there's no one to check the work. (By cheap, I mean Chinese.)

No idea. But I brought a leather tank strap for mine with the same 21 onwards fitting and the bolt holding rear of tank is 15 mm to far forward to the strap. No problem I could just make a new hole but the seller replied they’d sold hundreds through out Europe and no body has informed them of a problem with the other V7 models. But they do make specific straps for the special edition which has the hole further forward. So logically something has changed in the special editions.. Also I guess you’ve checked that the pannier’s will fit with the higher level exhausts.

Sure i read somewhere the Special Edition model with Arrow cans is different mounting than standard.

Can you perhaps use only one bolt in the top mounting plate, using the front hole and mounting of to the aftmost hole in the frame? Perhaps the frame is then just this necessary one inch more aft .

I probably wouldn’t waste any time, other than modify the bracket to fit and repaint it….. but then that’s just me

Rack issues aside, that is a very good looking bike. It may be they've just sent the wrong rack.

Really annoying , surely your not the first guy to buy this model then order a pannier frame or maybe you are . Anyway, nobody died. Bikes coming along nicely, can't wait to see it in action.

Sorry to see you're having trouble with the fitting Dave , there's a similar situation with the Enfield 350 pannier frames from Hitchcocks, but they came with an adapter plate to overcome the footrest mounting difference between the 500 and the 350 classic. Literally a plate a couple of inches long with a couple of holes in it . Maybe you could knock up something similar with a step in it to compensate for the inward gap? Sounds about right with third party manufactures, I own a 2001 BMW R Nine T scrambler, the bike looks identical to the older model but its not, Changes to the cylinder head covers, bolt sizes and loads of other things. The amount of time I have spent sending back items that say they fit but they don't.

Could you fit the bottom end first as suggested and leave all the bolts slack until you have them all fitted in place. From looking at the pictures, could you fit the top mount on the inside of the bracket to give you a bit more?

To be honest I reckon hard panniers will spoil the look of that Guzzie . Just my opinion but I reckon it needs a set of robust leather or thick canvas panniers . Givi can get stuff wrong ,the rack they reckoned fitted my old Bandit didn’t , I had to revert to old school back garden shed fabrication to make it fit properly ,I had to do the same with my brother in laws Honda Silverwing Maxi scooter . Hope you get something sorted . Nice bike by the way ,should have loads of character 👍

I would fit the lower mounting first then make a small bracket to mount the tops, unless you can change the frames for the correct ones, if available.

Perhaps the givi parts are wrong? Is there a part No stamped on them?

Bummer they don't work on the SE. Hepco and Becker make 2 different mounting brackets for it depending on the luggage system. I prefer the C-Bow mounts and side bag assortment. I have C-Bow brackets mounted to my Bonnie T120 and Honda NC750X. I can use the same side bags on either bike. Just got a mounting bracket for my Super Meteor Celestial blue. And sprung for a set of the new XCore hard lockable bags. Enough room for a small camera setup or drone.

It’s a total bummer but your paperwork says clearly, Moto Guzzi V7 Stone (2021) which is not what you have. Had a similar problem with my Honda a few years ago, tried to adapt it and bitterly regretted it. Send it back and get the right rack. What an absolute pain though. Good luck.

Soft throw over luggage, dont spoil the lines of the bike by bolting an oil rig to the side of your beautiful v7 stone 👍

Do you think the standard exhaust is longer? The bracket/ frame may have been extended to accommodate the shorter silencer. Have a look at the picture or get the dealer to measure the standard bike.

Cross reference against Givi part number before purchase would have saved time and effort if not money

Maybe the two bolts in the frame are wrong and it should use one which would put it further back then you would have a spare hole at the back which could be for another bracket or a top box mount 🤔

If you are handy you could make up a very simple adaptor piece. A piece of 3mm plate and a couple of bends would do the job.

Did you contact Givi and did they state those saddlebags would fit your version of the 2023 model? It seems the answer is you bought the wrong ones.

Good morning from the Sheppey MG gang ie Colin metallic Blue 850 special, Phillip V711 stone, an now myself MG with a 'V7 special addition' same as yours. As I've still not collected but dropped off my part x interceptor and maybe next week ride away (maybe on my trailer). My simple question; the engine crash bars; the £55+ ones on eBay don't mention our models but they obviously fit and not wishing to get caught out like your panniers frames, could you give me link to the one's you bought please, many thanks, Oh; I bought a centre stand from the bike shop (Robinsons Canterbury) and its £180+vat, they are also fitting it foc! All the other suppliers; no names are in the 300 £'s and mine is out of a MG box :) happy days they say.

Dave, I've been running Monokey luggage on an f650 and now a 1250GS for 20 years, and would love to use those panniers on a Special Edition. I thought of the same possible solution as one of the comments - a simple sheet metal plate, similar in size to the top mount, drill two holes and insert it like a shim to move the top mounting back far enough to allow the connection to the rear peg mount. I know this rack is gone, but you had mentioned a second problem even if the rack could be used, in that the panniers would not fit because of the up-swept Arrow exhaust. How certain are you of that? Would the panniers just be too close, likely cooking their contents, or would the pipe actually prevent them from sliding into the Monokey frames? Usually, the bags are outside of the area of the muffler. Thanks!

Can you move the top bracket back&just use one support bolt, enough to mount it on the rear footrest..it should be strong enough..Ian.

Did you scratch the mudguard whilst attempting fitting or did it come scratched

Hi could you move the top bracket back using just 1 bolt fixing at top. Trim back the bracket to clear seat if necessary. Just a thought. Best wishes Dave

They will not fit!, I looked at this bike myself. When i went to view it i did not like it, something different i thought. My wife who is not that tall tried to get on the back, and found it difficult to get on as the pegs were too high for her. The reason is that the rear carriers are different to the standard Stone and classic versions, my wife can get on the later versions easily. Those exhausts require a new rear carrier, even the angle of the carrier is different. The only thing i can think of to help solve the problem, is to get standard rear carriers and fit them. I hope this helps.

Check the mark pullin video on the 21 model and stop the video as he shows that area of the bike and I think it looks different

bummer Dave, love to help out but looks like your either going to be on the horn to Givi or somebody got a fix, either way looks like your going to need some sort of a adapter piece or Givi have a special 'arrow pipe do hickey' and I'm betting it won't be cheap either..good luck mate

Having owned a MG for many years now and always GIVI accessories you were sold the wrong part or weren't given an adapter or that new muffler system is preventing a correct fit or ...... Who knows??? But you'll figure it out 😂😂

Hello Dave, will that top plate go behind the top frame fixing and by using only one bolt will that give you the position to fit the bottom fixing, l realise that's not part of the instructions for fitment but it might work. Hope you get it resolved soon bud 👍

Ohh TBW, I feel for your misfortune. As another subscriber mentioned, if you were to move the upper mount 1 screw back, would the exhaust mount fit? I wonder if an upper adapter plate would attach the rearmost screw to take its place? Hopefully, you get it sorted in time for spring 🙏

Your Bike is a (V7 Special Edition) NOT a (V7 "Stone") nor a (V7 Special) or even a (V7 Stone Corsa) Could this be the problem.?

Either take the gici back to the dealer or take the whole lote back bike and and tell them to get on with it you've paid out on bike and give stuff let them get on with it and no charge and make sure the do it correctly or they can have the lot back full refund
