Ford, GM and RAM truck CEOs are still being dumb. Prices are at an all time high and their plans are backfiring in a huge way. Truck buyers are getting smarter and now there are better options for buying trucks in 2024. Here are some ridiculously overprice trucks and a few options that could save you some money this year.

Toyota is perhaps the only brand exempt from this rule, but most new cars suck ass compared to 20ish years ago. We pushed tech integration too far and now it’s convoluted and expensive. My 1986 ford f150 is 1/10th the cost of a new one, engineered well enough to hold up over the last 38 years on the original drivetrain, over engineered, stupid reliable, with a rising resale value, with very little computerization or technology to maintain, with parts that are extremely cheap and readily available and easy to install yourself in the driveway. Makes it hard to want a new one.

It's a rubber band effect. They can't say when it's going to happen but it is. The indicators are all pointing to a financial collapse that will make the '08 mess look like pocket change as personal credit card debt is over $1T, and over 15% of the populace can't afford a $100 unexpected financial event. Main Street is floating in a sea of debt which home equity is being tapped to cover monthly expenses. Meanwhile the big 3 along with imports now following suit hiking the middle class can afford a $55,000 tech-laden set of 4 wheels.

Makes it seem like...YEA STICK IT TO THE MAN...THATLL SHOW THEM FOR CHARGING HIGH PRICES...but reality is much different. He lives in Idaho and inventory moves slower up there. Here in the Southeast and Southwest, lots are empty and trucks are still selling like hotcakes. Back in the day, they used to put all the "extras" in their top-of-the-line, limited luxury models (for the people that could afford them), so the rest of us could purchase a more cost-effective "standard" model that was actually "standard." No electric windows, no power locks, no automatic sliding doors and power liftgates (God forbid we exert ourselves opening a sliding door or liftgate), no backup monitors, no heated seats, no 15 speaker sound systems...just a car with a heater, air and a radio to get you from point "A" to point "B" in reasonable comfort at a reasonable cost. Now they cram unwanted add-ons to various degrees in all models...even trucks!! Remember when trucks were just trucks? Did we, as consumers, ask for all these guaranteed to fail, wallet-emptying "features?" Hell no, we didn't!! I say let the manufacturers choke on their unsold inventories of over-loaded, hedonistic monstrosities, so they can have the much needed "come to Jesus" realization that they royally screwed up with their greed-driven antics in the name of (COUGH!!) innovation.

@ram89572 3 күн бұрын
Dude, power windows and locks just make sense. How the hell are you supposed to roll up or down a window on the other side of the vehicle going down the road? The answer is you don't. You have to stop for that. It is not a major expense to have those 2 items. Backup cameras. Yeah that also makes sense as a safety feature and general helpful item for backup a vehicle up safely. You cannot see directly behind a vehicle with mirrors unless you have rear mounted mirrors which won't work for a truck. Power doors and gates are luxury items for sure. And while I don't need 15 speakers, I would certainly be happy if they just offered the option to have a better amp and better regular speakers that don't distort when you get them loud enough to actually listen to something.

Exploding vehicle prices are a direct result of the manufactured shortage of vehicles during the so-called pandemic, which then falsely inflated prices way about MSRP. This in turn has created a mindset amongst U.S. auto manufacturers that the American consumer with pay anything for a shiny new vehicle. The fact that all three U.S. auto manufacturers just announced yet more increases in their vehicle prices just supports this mindset.

You know truck prices are insane when you can say a 12 year old truck is "only " $28,000 without flinchin'. 😁

Do you know what’s even more crazier than all these prices that you’re wearing a beanie and a winter jacket I’m here in Vegas. It’s 7 o’clock and I’m watching your video and it’s almost 98° today. Keep up the great work I enjoy your videos 👍👍

I bought a 1997 Silverado in 2012 for $3,200.00 and I have worked that girl hard!... she has never let me down... I have spent, maybe $2,000 in maintenance... I was thinking of retiring the Girl and getting a new truck, so I looked around... NOPE!!! I will now be restoring the old girl to her former glory... priced it out... I can have her like new for less than $1,500.00 and some elbow grease... Anyone who pays these prices is crazy!!!

Throwing some decals on a $72.000. truck and then upping the price $30,000. isn't my idea of smart shopping or anything affordable. That new auto contract with the UAW is making a whale of a difference along with the greed of the companies and dealerships. I hope it was worth it now that the UAW is being laid off.

I bought a 1996 F350 XL crew cab 7.5 gas from a junkyard for $750. $1000 out the door total after I bought some other parts the same day. (Bumper, spare wheel/tire, set of aluminum wheels I ended up not using, and a tailgate.) I also later bought a bed since it had a utility box on it which I sold. Repaired the driveshaft, Two new fuel pumps, rear fuel tank, filter, oil change and a fuel pressure regulator and she runs great. Added a nice headlight and tailight kit and she looks awesome!

We need more trucks at Maverick prices

Agreed but not Mav build quality. Ford is slowly wrecking the Mav too. Upping prices while removing features. The current Mav is several thousand more across the board than a few years ago and it's a disposable trucklet. That's the thing that has kept me from buying one, the value isn't really there anymore.

Going to be a lot of repo's on the market soon. People buying these cars can't afford them and they're gonna get scooped up by the bank.

The banks are working with folks instead of repo, since there are already a repo driver shortage and no where to store these huge vehicles

4th Gen Silverados and Sierras are taking over the road in my area. Especially since the mid 22 refresh and the 3.0L Duramax proving to be excellent, sales on $50k-$70k half tons seem to be extremely strong here!

ENJOYED THE VIDEO! Does anyone remember what FORDS advertising slogan was for their TV advertisements? I'll give you a hint. It was many many many years ago that FORD used this slogan because it doesn't exist and hasn't existed for years....
