The scene right after this was the saddest thing ever. One of the Kriegsman survived and was hoarsley saying "kill me" and "control". And the Salamander turns and calls him a heretic not worthy of a quick death. Once the Salamander hears "control" he realizes the Kriegsman were not in their right mind and turns back to kill the straggler. But imagine being a Kriegsman and being forced to attack one of the Emperor's Angels then in your last minute of lucidity being told by the same Marine that you are a traitor to the Imperium. That absolutely broke me and I can only imagine how the Kriegsman felt.

For anyone who is interested, this is a scene from Pariah Nexus, on Warhammer TV. The Guardsmen didn’t succumb to Chaos, he was tortured and implemented by some sort of Necron Nano Bug/Scarab that is controlling his broken but living body; none of this is known to the Salamander at the time. You will hear them cry out in warning and disgust for their own actions, and some are begging to be put down.

@JWP-565 ай бұрын
This is actually quite close to the truth of the matter, Illuminor Czeras released swarms of Mindshackle Scarabs which are microscopic scarabs designed to essentially seize all control of a victim forcefully, however due to the scarabs being rather unstable in general (and the fact they were released en masse) most of the guardsmen retained some degree of lucidity, meaning while they couldn’t control their bodies, they would actively scream and ask for death or warn unaffected Imperials, hence why a lot of them can be seen practically clawing at their heads or helmets before their attack and why they seem to really just attack like wounded animals. (Should also be noted that the scarabs couldn’t hold back distinction between other Necron constructs and enemies, hence why in another clip we can see a horde of guardsmen physically tearing a Deathmark apart with their bare hands.)
