Expensive set up but VERY nice.It's good to see someone that understands the needs of more fragile and enviromentally sensitive lizards.These creatures suffer easily if not set up right.Happy to see a happy lizard!

Excellent video - we are just introducing these guys to our pet store after watching Clint's Reptiles video about them. We will, for sure, link this to our customer page!!

Awesome enclosure. I've got the exact same viv and looking to get 2 MHD's soon, have had it all set up for a while now so i'm looking forward to having some life it in ha
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
I'm now that enclosure for a pair of varanus Gilleni. I sold the horned dragons and I think they are still doing good. for the dwarf monitors I put a plywood top on the exotic Terra to hold the heat in better.
@jollyscarecrow7 жыл бұрын
Oh really, why did you sell the horned dragons?

thanks. I try to do as much research as possible before getting into any species. unfortunately there isn't a lot of info on these guys so I had to dig deep on the Web and it encouraged me to make a better care video than the ones I seen on youtube.

BMXking 658 I have the same size viv as this. This video has helped me loads thank you. Can’t wait to get mine in a couple of weeks.

How often do you feed? Do you always just put feed in the bowl and they come to it? Do you have an elevated food bowl at all? Thanks!

These look great. Your set up is awesome. I just saw one of these for the first time but the pet store said it hasn't been eating well and they have talked to other stores and they can't keep them alive. Are they very fragile? I have been pretty successful with my Chameleon and also have a baby Bearded. I love the look of these guys!
@Ndub3306 жыл бұрын
The problem with these is that most of them are wild captured wich explains the high mortality
@bmxking65825 жыл бұрын
@@Ndub330 exactly, they are imported with worms, parasites, and dehydration.

What size and hight and cost and where did u get that tank???
@Nhan1one7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the information, bought a pair of Acanthosaura bitangensis on a fair yesturday. Great terra, good advice, might buy a bigger tank sooner or later. The bigger the better right?!
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
Nhan1one bigger is usually better but harder to hold humidity. if this was a plywood set up sealed with polyurethane I think it would have been way better. it would not let humidity escape so easily and it would hold heat better so the lights could have been lower wattage and wouldn't dry it out so quickly.

This makes me miss mine so badly. She ended up with MBD (metabolic bone disease) unfortunately and passed.
@christianz3445 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have UVB or they will guaranteed get MBD. Also feed with calcium at least twice a week. If you did both those things, not sure why it got MBD
@sydninoble41167 жыл бұрын
What is their temperament usually like? My baby is very docile and likes to sleep a lot. I am wondering if that is normal. Thanks!
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
Sydni Noble mine never bit at all, usually you could place them on you and they just chill but like to climb high like on your shoulders or head. in the enclosure it's not unusual to see them in the same spot for a few days.

Is a 25X25X25 cage to small for one?
@greenmondaymorning7 жыл бұрын
do you have an estimation for the cost of this set up? I want to get 1 or 2 of this type of lizard and am wondering the cost of getting started.
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
that exotic Terra is kinda pricey, but you don't need that large of a set up. I would guess about $500 roughly for a set up like this with a fogger and rain system.
@athenastarbrite29557 жыл бұрын
That's a nice setup. I put real evergreen trees in my setup. Is that ok?
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
Athenastarbrite I'm not sure but I know most evergreen trees such as pine are bad for reptiles. id look more into it if I was you.

what lights do you use? and domes?
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
I forgot the dome size but they are the large zoo med with a ceramic heat emitter in one and a 75 watt clear regular house bulb. the uvb light is a 36 in zoo med t5 high output fixture with a reptisun 5.0 bulb.

Hey my mountain horned lizard has barley grown mine is a baby and has only shed once and that was 2 months ago.. It has UVB and misted and feed Dailey.. And I'm kinda worried
@bmxking65828 жыл бұрын
sorry for the late reply. make sure your humidity is high! have a fecal test done from a vet, almost all of these are wild caught and have worms and parasites.
@nathanw.83498 жыл бұрын
Where do u get ur earth worms
@bmxking65828 жыл бұрын
walmart, bait shops have them too. I'd personally stay away from "red wigglers" because they have been known to be bad for certain snakes. why chance it.
@elijulian39457 жыл бұрын
does anyone know where i could get a mountain horned lizard that is breeded and not caught?
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
sucks because nobody really breeds them, that's why I started the project to begin with. we changed some rooms around and I had to downsize and when I sold them the female was plump and probably full of eggs.
@cooliipie7 жыл бұрын
how do you treat them for parasites?
@bmxking65827 жыл бұрын
The Legend34 gotta get a microscope and a few books on common parasites and worms in reptiles. then you will know what to look for. you can get medications online once you know what they have and what is safe to use for treatment. you also need a scale because most dosages depend on the weight of the animal.
