The Soto Amicus Stove (with ignitor) and New River Pot Combination is an amazing kit that I actually bought for my beautiful girlfriend, Annika. I own a LOT of stoves, but this one is a keeper!

I have the same stove which came in a kit from REI with 2 pots, a 1-litre and a 500 ml, which I use as a lid on the large pot most of the time. Agree it is a great stove, and I don't object to the pot. I don't know that I would use anodized aluminum every day all year long, but for hiking and camping, no problems.

Ya! I know a chef that changed careers to work at REI and he gave me a lot of great info on cookware surfaces and health. There are some anodized aluminum that are great and safe. Stainless is amazing but heavy; titanium is terrible at conducting heat and impossible to clean. I can’t deal with Ti unless it’s for only boiling water. I mainly use Soto, GSI, Sea to Summit for cookware. I like my jetboil and msr Windburner. 😬

A good trail buddy is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, those things know an animal is near from half a mile away and encroaching. I have that pot and the stove. Great setup made in Japan so build quality is great. Try buying the Optimus windshield that clips on to the gas canister and also a canister stand for the bottom, this makes a great set up.

This looks like a perfect pot for my needs, but unfortunate that it's missing the interior volume measurements. That's a deal breaker for me. Thanks for your review!

I relate to the thing about sensing something close by. Ran into a brown bear recently and I could smell and feel him before he presented himself in front of me in the shrubbery. Sometimes when walking in the woods you just know there is a big animal close by.

In mountain lion country, wear your sunglasses on the back of your head. A lion will not attack from the front, and it will think you’re walking backwards. It confuses the cat and it won’t attack.

Ya.. I’ve run into cougars more than bears! I’m hate that I’m like a wildlife magnet! 😢😢😢 Cougars are scary because they are so stealthy and quick; however, Grizz scare me the most! Especially since encounters are rising and attacks are increasing in frequency 😢 I always carry bear spray, regardless of weight!

How many boils do you get out of a 100g fuel canister? And how long did it take to boil the water?
@TheTrailDancer
@TheTrailDancer 3 жыл бұрын
Hey bro.... it was really cold that day, slightly below freezing (-2). The boil took like 5 minutes, but it's usually much faster. Plus I was at 4,500' elevation. I haven't tested the number of boils/per can; there are just so many factors. Hope this helps.. it's a great little set-up.
