We just got back from camping at Mountain River Family Campground and the place is wonderful. This was our first visit there and will be returning. The staff was so very nice and helpful. If you are in the area stop and stay a few days you'll love it.

I've never heard of this area and we're actually planning on heading through NC in the fall so we're gonna have to check this out.

Unfortunately my truck would not make it up to mountain river family campground due to my transmission. I booked only 2 days before and called to let them know of our situation. They informed me that they rely on reservations and that they were charging for the full stay. Most places when they charge a deposit will keep the deposit only. Very disappointed to say the least. Don't waste your time or money booking with the thieves running this so called family campground.....

Oh man, that's too bad it worked out that way for you! It's a very nice campground but it would have been nice if they would have worked with you since you had vehicle trouble.
