Learning that the voice actor for the dog thought this was an animated movie at first makes SO much more sense- he definitely gives the dog the voice you'd expect in a kids movie and not the weirdly serious and dark film you get

The delivery of the line “Don’t spend it all on green clothing” is magical

As someone who speaks Chinese and has read her share of manga, manwha, watched some Asian cinema... I don't know exactly how, but the director being a Chinese woman makes a lot of sense to me. I have to collect my thoughts and watch the entire video, but what I can say from the get go is that Asian romances tend to be a lot wilder as far as what they consider appropriate to include.

It would have been funny if Lisa ran up to a golden retriever after Prince broke up with her, she confesses her love to him, and then the dog's owner walks up and is like "What the fuck are you doing lady?"

The dog's voiceover kind of makes me wonder if my cat's just been making fun of us for almost 19 years and we just haven't noticed it yet.

More importantly; the reincarnated Alvin Flang was born to someone when that dog died. That bad-wigged goober turned into an old man and then got married and turned young again and all this is happening to someone who presumably until then had a family, friends, a life, maybe even a significant other? How does this change for them? Does he show up one day later with just YEARS of extra memories and a wife?

I saw one shot of the guy in a dog collar and was immediately wishing youtube comments allowed me to post the "The Writers Barely Disguised Fetish" screenshot.

I seem to remember a short-lived Nickelodeon show similar to this. There was this bad kid who was cursed to live as a dog, and to undo the curse he has to do one-hundred good deeds.

The dialogue reminds me of a Chinese manhua/comic that was translated, but no proof reading was done. Which makes sense, seeing as that's basically what happened.

With any luck they'll make of prequel chronicling Alvin Shcwang's 90's year, living out in California and harassing Mitch Buchannan.

Love on the Leash is, for me, the Citizen Kane of Bad Movies. It does what truly great bad movies do in creating or rather re-creating 'reality' with a vision that is at once alien and yet just real enough to, but in a terrible way. Somehow it all works to help you to continue to watch and be entertained in an opened mouth awe-inspiring way. Due to the subject matter itself, more ambitious and weird than The Room, yet not the budget. It's got such a strange rhythm to the everyday that reminded me of David Lynch and how he plays with character and oddness The first time I watched it I was slackjawed in awe throughout. The 2nd time it was like I started to change into the reality of the film, like I transformed into it. And unlike lesser bad movies every decision is so weird, focused and fascinating, yet rivetting and entertaining. I feel like it moves genre into performance art in its strangeness. LOTL should be studied in film school. And I don't think I'm even joking.

I can't believe Gustavo from Big Time Rush voiced the dog in this. He always was the funniest person on the show

Well, that was indeed a crazy one. Basically, a reverse werewolf story, with a dash of beauty & the beast. It's good to know that a real-life romance came out of it. Thanks for the review.

I like how they didn't even reinforce the tail so it would actually act like a tail instead of like a floppy strip of fake fur fabric they got at a craft store.

Glickman had some improvisation experience and he did indeed run with it! Judging from interviews he’s a really nice guy but evidently he realized the dog character was supposed to be rather a putz and made sure it would be!

Well, with us living in an age of movies doing remakes and stories told before many times, I guess I give the movie credit for not being something that's been done before. I doubt there is a category of "Romcoms of falling in love with your dog." At least I HOPE there's not one.

I'm having flashbacks to the Norm McDonald as a Pigeon story on Mike Tyson Mysteries. I'm actually disappointed that the Film didn't end with the pair both becoming Dogs together.

This reminds me of a small subpart of Authorian legend, where one of the knights meets a woman named Ragnul, who is a beautiful woman by day but turns into a pig (?) at night. She asks him if he'd rather she was a woman at day or at night, but he tells her that it should be her choice and so it's up to her, which breaks the curse (somehow?) And they are happily married at the end

You introduce me to so, oh so many good bad movies to watch and older tv shows. I love watching them Also the background and how the movie came about, makes the movie/show even more fun to watch

Can't wait for the crossover with "A talking cat?!" where Duffy and Prince go around helping people with love advice, with Alvin constantly insulting people and Duffy being on the brink of falling asleep. Every episode ends with them both getting hit by a speeding car and winding up in the hospital with loosely-applied bandages, before being reincarnated for their next mission in whatever time-warp universe this seems to take place in.
