Sent back from a dystopian 2029--where the cold machines have conquered the entire world--to 1984 Los Angeles, the indestructible cyborg-assassin known as the "Terminator" commences his deadly mission to kill humankind's most important woman: the unsuspecting Sarah Connor. However, from the same war-torn post-apocalyptic future comes a battle-scarred defender--Kyle Reese, a brave soldier of the human Resistance Army--bent on stopping the cybernetic killer from eliminating the world's last hope. But, the Terminator has no feelings, he doesn't sleep, and above all, he won't stop until he carries out his grim task. Does our future lie in our past?

One reason this movie works so well is its relentless pace. There isn't an ounce of fat on it. The shoestring budget probably helped - most of the time, they were shooting the outdoors scenes without permits, and they had to get out of there before any cops showed up.

A plasma charge is apparently very hard to control and contain. If you could send such a powerful charge/beam to its target, ie a man with no top on it could kill . If a leaf from a tree should be hit first it will deflect the particles. It really is how fictional the plasma rifle is. Look it up, cheers

In Australia, back in the 70s and 80s when Kmart sold guns, you could just pick a 12 gauge shotgun up out of the rack and grab a couple of boxes of shells off the shelf, and walk up to the checkout with them.. This was in QLD, no gun licence, no waiting period, just had to be 17 years old. More innocent times.

Reese mentions that most historical documents were destroyed in the nuclear war, and that both humans and robots didn’t have enough information about the past, which is why the Terminator is killing all women named Sarah Connor. But since we know that Skynet was created before the nuclear war, it is quite possible that it didn’t care to provide its machines with much knowledge, just the basic.

The best part about this movie is that it wasn't filmed 'legally'. For whatever reason, James Cameron didn't get the permits required to run a muck thru LA with an entire film crew.. so they just said "f- it" and went underground. They'd literally pull up, bounce out, "Lights! Camera! Action!......Cut!" Hop back in, and drive to the next location to film another scene. That's why the night scenes look the way they do. U can almost feel the raw, gritty, urban landscape that was mid '80s LA. This movie will forever be a classic

Each movie filmed on pre-2000's cameras (and not on newer digital cameras) is stored on a film reel. Each film has a resolution of around 5K (Film has no "resolution", but it is calculated that it is around that resolution). Therefore each "old" movie (up to 2000's, more or less) can be scanned up to 4K or 5K and stored on digital storage. During this, the director may opt to also include color corrections, HDR etc... That's how we get remasters of old movies, now on UHD Blurays, with 4K, HDR etc...
