I've just watched this and I tell you, James McAvoy is hauntingly very good. I don't know how he's able to pull off such spontaneity.

I’ve read tons of comments in the past with the format : “ turns out the Actor was doing this, that, & this (usually something crazy) and the Director just happened to be filming.” Looks like the writer must have seen those type of KZfaq comments because they’re ACTUALLY doing it in this movie!!! We’ve come full circle lol. This is going to be amazing.

Totally agree, he really delves into the parts where you look into his eyes and get the intensity of each role, and he really knows people, he puts mannerisms on and takes them off like a glove.

when they say he did not get a single script. it means the exact sentences. james still knows the plot of the whole movie and exact plot of each take he was taking

Just watched it, thank you i loved it cast we're great, location's we're bleak and assist in the gloom of a lost loved one, it's pace was perfect and no annoying kicking and punching scene that goes on for 8 minute's, lovely bit of stealth from James not too much Commando, just desperate Father. A Fine Display 👏

I’m guessing McAvoy character is going to face trial for being a vigilante, blow torching the nonce’s feet etc… It’s sickening to know he would also face trial if this happened in real life, our justice system means criminals are given greater rights than the victims.

so Im guessing this is an improv piece. He's given a scenario, he's told the basics about his character and the rest of the cast have lines to deliver to him and he reacts. Sounds cool but it risks having clunky dialogue as real life conversations often do.
