Your horse feeder was empty almost the entire episode! If you keep it full of the prairie grass the sheep and goats will eat from it at the bottom and then you don’t have to spend the simoleans to bottle feed them 😊

All your appliances use power until you turn it off. Anything usable off the grid has an option when you click on it ‘disable utility usage’ then it stops using power. Afterwards, you have to continually add ice, collect water and add something to appliances. 😊

I've seen a few comments over the last few series that make me really sad. People seem to think that Lady Bigwallet III isn't a true decendant of the original Lady Bigwallet just because Addison was adopted. That's basically saying that adopted children don't really count as being part of the family. Saying that the true lineage only exists with Sandalwood is so hurtful for people who have been adopted. They still show up in the family tree, so the game recognizes them as part of the family. Sim genetics don't even function that well, so it's not like we should expect any sim of this generation to really resemble the original Lady Bigwallet. And if we are comparing this to real life, as it is a life simulator, then I wish more people understood that all humans are related to each other anyway, if you go back far enough you will find a common ancestor. Saying that adoptees are not legitimate decendants just seem cruel, even if we are talking about pixels and lines of code, there are real life people who have been adopted, who deserve to feel like they are full members of their families.

Bringing "true" or "real" into this discussion is pointless. Adopted people have at least 4 branches to their family tree (2 biological parents, 2 raising parents), and each of them is real, valid and important. I actually think it's super offensive of Sims 4 to erase adopted Sims' "biological" genealogy, and to treat them as if they were the same as biological offspring of the adopting Sims. Adoptees have a vastly different experience, and pretending that they don't causes a lot of unnecessary pain.

@@glykera I only used "true" because it was how I was seeing them be described in other comments. Saying that the adopted kids are not "true" decendants. I agree that both bio and raising parents are a part of an adoptee's family. I'm also looking at it from the lens of being LGBTQIA+. A lot of us are ostricized from our family of origin, so found family, chosen family becomes more important. Bio or adoptive, the family who supports you and loves you is the one that matters. If it's a mix of both, that's even better. Far too many adoptees are forced to lose all contact with their bio family. It seems especially sad when people adopt from other countries, and the adoptee loses not only their extended bio family, but also their language and culture of origin. Just because a child cannot be raised by their bio parents, it doesn't mean they should be forced to lose all connection with them. And sometimes this is decided by the bio parent, such as when babies are left at safe haven locations (Not judging, it's probably terrible circumstances that lead someone to have to do that). It's obviously complicated, and a lot of harm is caused by the current systems, and hopefully adult adoptees will be listened to when trying to make improvements. As far as the game goes, I assume the lack of a bio family in the genealogy happens because in the game the adopted children don't actually have bio parents, and are spawned in singularly by the game. Sort of like how every sim you start with doesn't have parents unless you create them, but then the parents don't have parents, and so on.

1: Adoption notices are MC Command Center. You can turn all that off if you dig into the Population Settings. 2: The Deadhorse Caves: you need to put your mini sheep in your inventory to proceed. Future levels of the cave will also require a glass of water to be in your inventory. 3: I'm all for Goatzilla as the goat's name. 4: The themed intros are AWESOME!

I think MC command center is the reason for the horse adoption. Duke Gooseman is Don Gooseman’s horse (it is still a parks and rec reference because Duke Silver was Ron Swanson’s jazz playing alter ego) and Don died last part. Normally orphaned dependents like pets and toddlers get deleted by the game but MC Command Center has an option for orphaned dependents to get adopted by other households instead.

@@lmcgiglez this is something I really wish was in the game and not a mod. I don’t actually use mods (although it is cool to see what they can do) and I love to play rotationally with multiple households and if there isn’t another teen-adult sim in the household with my grandparent sims then when they die any cats, dogs, or toddler and younger family members in the household get deleted. I had an elder grandparent sim in the household with a toddler grandchild while the young adult mom went back to Uni to finish her degree, she only had one semester left, mid semester, grandma died and the toddler got deleted. I had to exit without saving, replay 2 in game days and move in a random adult friend of grandma’s, that for storyline purposes was just staying while their apartment was being fumigated, just so the toddler was still there when mom finished her semester. I wish the game would give you an option to move the dependents to another household if they are in a played household.

The black mini sheep for 2000 simoleons gives you up to 300 for it's wool. The door in the cave where it says say baa and enter works if you have a mini sheep in your inventory I think you also need red meat and energy nectar.

Goat name ideas : Selvagoatrada, Goatzilla I believe Baathu followed Lady to the town. If they are not trapped, they follow their rancher sim everywhere. That's at least what I experienced with my minis XDD that was so cute

@@egg_army Fair, but there has to be something I am doing wrong then, because there is excessivley slow friendship gain but equally rapid friendship loss occuring with only sheep and goats. It stands out. For instance, when I got a ranch hand thinking maybe that was apart of the puzzle that I was missing to gain friendship... the day after, my first ranchhand work day, my sim lost all friendship that they had gained with my sheep and goat. I even tried focusing directly on one goat. They got their relationship up to about half, then i desperately needed to attend to my sims needs before they died, and went to hug the goat one last time... only to find thst after it had went to sleep it was dying and had only a sliver of friendship with my sim. All I had my sim do for about 12 or so ingame hours was tend to this singlar goat and when i left to keep my sim alive lol eat, pee, shower... the goat is like i hardly know you sir.

The tiny ranch house with a tiny basement, hole-in-the-ground storm cellar kinda reminds me of the description of Dorothy's [uncle and aunt's] farm house in the Wizard of Oz; which is kinda fitting as a classic American ranch house.

While you have power, there should be an option on the fridge (and all other utilities) to turn off utility usage. While your power storage is empty, the option doesn't appear for some reason. Hope this helps!

So James, fun fact, the driest desert on earth is Antarctica. Deserts aren't exclusively hot, they tend to be freezing cold at night and in the winter! I remember learning this in school ages ago and being weirded out lol. Also there is a crafted barstool that looks rustic (read: badly made), but Lady's handiness is too high to craft that one. You can buy it for 10 simoleons if you have debug checked when you look under barstools in the catalogue! And the adoption notice thing is MCCC, there's a setting in there somewhere to turn it off. You could maybe hide the wind turbines in a basement and use the windmill that comes in the Horse Ranch live edit just for aesthetics?

As a Coloradan - this world looks like it could be here, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, or Utah (there's places in pretty much all these states that look like this) and our area gets pretty crazy cold winters, and some summers colorado gets rain every day in the afternoon (idk abt the rest of the west) but Usually there isn't much rain. In fact, my state is known as the "headwaters state" bc we have the rivers in the Rockies and we have water compacts with other states over water originating within our borders! It's pretty interesting that the sims team chose to make it rain often in their western-themed world. Considering California's droughts, it makes sense tho

The blonde girl (with the handkerchief) that keeps showing up at your door is the master crafter. She wants to repair something or give you a gift. I think you can remove the umbrella with an umbrella stand but I haven't tried it in a while. The adoption notifications are the neighborhood stories.

Chestnut Ridge is based on the desserts of Utah Arizona and Nevada. As someone that lives in Utah I can say winters are harsh. Utah is known for the “greatest snow on earth”

As for Western winters, I was once on a school trip where we visited the Grand Canyon. There was a surprise cold snap that resulted in like 3ft of unexpected snow and a lake effect that filled the entire Canyon with fog. I have yet to see the Grand Canyon.

Lol it only takes a couple months to get through it all if you watch a couple about everyday , the early episodes are a trip since James is and always has been a pack chaser its really the evolution of the sims 4 . It's worth the watch though!

Apparently you need to click on a praire grass patch to train your goat and sheep to eat from it. Also if you click on your horse and encourage then it puts the horse in the optimal mood to win competitions. When you move to the big farm it might be nice to go round and meet all the townies and invite them all to a big bbq and play horseshoes.🤷‍♀️❤🐎🐴🐐🐑

Haha, I totally laughed out loud when Baahtuu bounced through the town. I had to put my goat and sheep in with the chickens because they kept wandering off. I locked the gate for chickens, goats and sheep. I feel sorry for them but the horses do go to visit them. You gain Gardening skill when you harvest, so it's good to do it every day. The harvested fruit doesn't spoil so there is no downside.

Don't forget that you can also sell Nectar by using the garage sale table. (at massive price hikes if you want.) There also seem to be a couple mods to fix the outdoor retreat campfire with simple living so maybe they'll work with the one from horse ranch as well. I'll have to check them out.

Remember, you can put the extra produce in the fridge so you can cook with it since you’ve got simple living. any off the grid appliances…click the option Utility usage off so they arent constantly using your power … craft the toilet is at lvl 10 The recycler doesn’t have an off the grid option so it constantly uses power

I'm living for the mustache, the DEDICATION 😂 Thanks for another video, can't wait for the next upload! 🐎Mini goats and mini sheep can eat prarie grass hay from the feeder (the stuff that's "fallen" on the ground) and same with the water, which is handy if you want a lot of them! 🐑🐐When I play off the grid I select "disable utility usage" for the appliances and plumbing. Hope it helps!

This horse pack keeps reminding me of this story my forensics teacher told me, growing up her family had a horse farm. One time she tried riding a horse without supervision, the horse stepped into a hole and fell with my teacher on it, my teacher got paralyzed from the waist down for a day or two. She was fine after a few days of rest but that story still surprises me

I highly recommend saving up $2000 to buy a black sheep. If your sheep is in a "very happy" mood, as opposed to just happy, their wool will be worth $300 instead of the regular $200. Also the goat's milk (that somehow isn't called goat milk) will also be worth $45 when they are in a "very happy" mood, instead of $30. You can make extra simoleons by selling those during the weekend at the grocery store in Chestnut Ridge (higher prices) or at the Finchwick Fair after haggling (25% profit). FYI, if your horse has a happy or confident moodlet they are more likely to win competitions.

There's a 64×64 lot in the new expansion pack that you could fit all the animals and farming stuff on and make it a huge estate. Pond for fishing, the insect hives, llama, chickens, cow, goats, sheep, horses. Could have a big crop field and a greenhouse. A cat and dog. Sounds kinda stressful with all the chores.

The adoption notification means that all the adults in that household died and the remaining sims that need care (infants, toddlers, kids and pets) will be randomly assigned (= adopted) to a new household. This is how I found out that my Sims' sons' widow (he already died) ALSO died, so their kids and pets where scattered across households. I had to bring them back to live with their grandparents :')

@glykera yes I did :) The notification states what household they were adopted in to, so I just took them from those households. Most were random 'unplayed' households. I also quickly took a picture of the notifiction just in case haha😂

@@loverrleeI would love an option for that too, for cases like this 😭 Because of neighbourhood stories, Sims die even without aging, so it happens more often. Thats why a lot of Simmers have been getting these notifications :')

17:41 when you have mounted the horse, click on the horse and you can choose to do what kind of ride eg “relaxed/intense” etc and the horse will just roam around but I don’t think there is a “trail” for the horse to follow

How about bringing Sandalwood back as Ranch aid (like Trenton in Cottage Living). I Think he and Lady are the same generation. Since Reginald adopted his kids, Sandalwood is last** remaining direct descendant of Lady Bigwallet I. *Correction: Sandalwood is the only direct descendant in Lady Bigwallet III generation (13th).
