Cynthia is the only champion where they truly tried to make her challenging. She’s optimally EV trained, perfect IVs, high level scaling, and holding items like expert belt, sitrus berry, and ice halving berry for Garchomp. Every mom on her team has an item. If other champions had those qualities as well I feel like she would still be one of the strongest but I doubt she’d be the hardest one.

I mean, she outsped my speed, attack ev Gallade with Garchomp. That was the point I realized that death was coming for me. I won second round because I got 3 swords dances off on Gallade against Gastrodon, and survived the earthuake BECAUSE OF POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. Yes. My pride still hurts

Deserves all the respect she deserves. Now that she's officially going to retire from battling in the Pokemon anime. She must've gotten sick of people shouting "LEON!", when she was holding back all along and using no gimmicks.

In Pokemmo he's a total nightmare to fight cuz Pokemmo rebalanced the ai and difficulties of Region's, I had to change my team like 2 times to beat him and then Indigo Plateau was so much worse with Lance too 😭

While he’d still put Sun at the bottom for owning the unga bunga crab, I think he might give Loot some credit since it was basically a mob boss leading a bunch of Crabrawler, took over a whole ship at the Seafolk Village docks, and actually jumped Sun and beat the shit out of him before it joined his team and even then it acted like it was doing Sun a favor.

@@DWilson66 apparently, (if I got my sources right) the breeding program lore bit in the Pokédex entries were a result of a fan reading the dex entry of lapras and feeling so bad for the species that he decided to breed and then release a metric ton of them into the wild, I think he posted his progress somewhere high profile (or maybe even live streamed it if the time period allows, I barely remember the story’s details, I only recall the gist of it) because otherwise the game freak employee that decided to acknowledge that persons repopulation efforts wouldn’t have seen it in the first place.

Looking at their teams, Wallace could easily beat Steven. Wailord with higher speed and water spout can easily dispose Skarmory. Tentacruel with liquid ooze and toxic is the bane of Steven's Cradily's existence ( and Cradily was the most troublesome Pokémon in Steven's team to face for me because of how annoying it was ) Armaldo and Aggron are useless against Wallace. Claydol can certainly set up screens but looking at Wallace's Milotic's moveset ( toxic + recover ), Milotic can easily beat Claydol. Regular Metagross dies easily against Whiscash and his Gyarados has Earthquake. Mega Metagross is probably the only bit of challenge. Still, Whiscash and Gyarados ( latter with dragon dance and intimidate ) can take care of it. If Gyarados can Mega Evolve, well, then goodbye Mega Metagross; there's no way you are beating that thing. And that's not even talking about his super annoying Ludicolo ( I remember wiping once because of it as Ludicolo had double team, leech seed and giga drain and I had bad RNG ). So Wallace succeeding Steven made so much sense for me. Though team wise, Wallace could beat nearly any Champion because of how much vulnerable they are against water and ice. Red, Cynthia and Diantha are the only ones who have fair chance of beating him, and Leon has a slim chance of beating with his Rillaboom team.

That Toxic Milotic, Ludicolo, and Seadra are freaking annoying as hell.

The only Pokémon I remembered he had was the charizard. His team on paper might have been good but he was piss easy. Which doesn't bug me unlike every other person who plays Pokémon but I do wonder at the people who thought he was decent. Steven my first playthrough of ORAS was more difficult.

Red is the first protagonist of pokemon so he gets special treatment.

Mostly because unlike any other trainer, Red is (or was pre Alola) a free man who is (was) doing his own thing. That until the people of Alola asked him and Blue to run as the two bosses of the battle tree. And also because he is canonically one of the two only trainers in the pokemon universe, being known as a "legendary" trainer with the other one being Blue.

I mean we never fought the guy at full strength would love the challenge of fighting him with mewtwo and anyone of the legendary birds

@@jointser1008 actually yes and no. The reason they are titled as the two "legendary" trainers is because of both their historic deeds and their power scale. Both are the bosses of the battle tree, even Cynthia who is regarded as one of the strongest amongst the champs, was placed below Red and Blue as a side-boss. This alone proves that they are the two strongest trainers and while N is definitly something or someone very special, he is nowhere near Red and Blue level of strong and probably not even with his Reshiram.

Pokemon has always done Diantha dirty, especially in the anime. I hate Leon partially because he completely humiliated her just so the writers could jerk off about how awesome he is. Diantha's team actually has the potential to be a real challenge if the game designers would just put in the work. The most significant change I would make is to replace Goodra with Blissey. Yes, I know Goodra's a Pseudo-Legendary but it rightfully belongs to Drasna and Blissey, along with Gourgeist and Aurorus, creates a stronger defensive core for the more offensive members of the team to rally around. Gourgeist in particular can switch into Fighting type moves which, unless they're coming from a Scrappy Pokemon, will do absolutely nothing to it and save Blissey and Aurorus from being clobbered by them. It could even cause massive damage without even attacking by switching into any Pokemon foolish enough to use Jump Kick or High Jump Kick, apart from Mega Lopunny. Here's how I would do Diantha's team; Gardevoir Level 68 Item: Gardevoirite (obviously) Nature: Timid Ability: Trace/Pixilate Moves: Hyper Voice, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt Aurorus Level 66 Item: Light Clay Nature: Bold Ability: Refrigerate Moves: Hyper Voice, Ancient Power, Light Screen, Reflect Tyrantrum Level 66 Item: Assault Vest Nature: Careful Ability: Rock Head Moves: Head Smash, Outrage, Earthquake, Crunch Blissey Level 65 Item: Chople Berry (just in case Gourgeist has already been knocked out) Nature: Bold Ability: Natural Cure Moves: Seismic Toss, Counter, Soft-boiled, Toxic (I've seriously considered Shadow Ball but Blissey should have max HP and she can't if she's investing in Special Attack as well as Defence) Gourgeist (Super Size) Level 65 Item: Leftovers Nature: Careful Ability: Insomnia Moves: Seed Bomb, Shadow Sneak, Will-O-Wisp, Leech Seed Hawlucha level 64 Item: Flying Gem (they should never have gotten rid of that) Nature: Adamant Ability: Unburden Moves: Acrobatics, Drain Punch, X-Scissor, Poison Jab

@@veenadayma6514 Diantha's Gardevoir alone could sweep Iris' Dragons. Hydriegon in particular would be cowering in a corner if Gardevoir just looked at it the wrong way. Salamence might win if it could Mega Evolve and Haxorus has a Focus Sash but Hydriegon and Druddigon would be no problem at all and when you're battling any Champion who isn't as weak as Wallace or Geeta (seriously, why the fuck is Glimmora her signature Pokemon?), you can't afford to fall behind.

I remember in my Let’s Go Eevee nuzlocke, I expected Trace to be a piece of cake. His Pidgeot opened up with Heat Wave, on my fire resistant Kingler, but it did like over half of their HP and I had to stall out until he ran out of PP. Needless to say, that was intense

ngl from my personal experience I had 0 issues sweeping Traces Pidgeot, mainly because I didn't wanna use my pikachu on my team and opted out for Zapdos instead.

For me was pretty easy, beated him in my first try, still I love him tho

Finally decided to finish SP the other day and after barely escaping Flint by the skin of my teeth (5/6 of my Pokémon are either weak to fire or have an ability that makes them weak to fire, and even with only 2 actual fire types he still nearly beat me), I got brick walled by Cynthia. Started the fight well enough, was going 5v3 with not too much resistance aside from the Milotoc and all of a sudden her Roserade pulls an Uno reverse card and makes it a 2v3 and by the time the Roserade went down nothing I had left could even dent Lucario. The rest of the game is a bit of a joke thanks to affection and not being balanced around the modern exp share, but shit went from 0 to 100 at the league.

Her Porygon-Z is amazing as well.

Cynthia is the hardest, Leon was never hard, he just would have potential because of his balanced team.

I used to think Challenge Mode Iris was the toughest Champion of all time. She had: Flying Gem Acrobatics Archeops Focus Sash Dancing Haxorus Hydreigon with nice coverage Another pseudolegendary in Salamence. And then BDSP Cynthia happened. She had: Nasty Plot Lucario. But even scarier, Porygon-Z that hits harder than a truck and that Hyper Beam almost one shots anything Paraflinching Togekiss Flame Orb + Mirror Coat Milotic Swords Dance + Yache Berry Garchomp And then Cynthia became strongest Champion without any controversy. And that's without including the fact that she had perfect EVs...

Honestly her Hydreigon is SO TOUGH. Like, it’s coverage is so good that it nearly always has a move that is super effective against you, and paired with it’s crazy Sp Atk, it nearly always 1 hit ko’s you immediately. Literally the only way to beat it, is to have a pokemon faster than it, that can KO it in one go first. I lost to iris so many times just because my team was half dead by the time I got past her first pokemon 😭😭

So far though ash vs cynthia is actually turning out to be a great match so far. ash is struggling though

@@infamousplayer8772 Wrong. Ash only defeated Cynthia because of plot armour. Togekiss knows Zen Headbutt so Cynthia could easily have used Max Mindstorm to set up Psychic Terrain and make Lucario's Bullet Punch, the only move he knows that actually threatens Togekiss, completely useless. Even if he pulled his forgotten Steel Beam out of his ass, the recoil would have made him too weak to handle Garchomp, who had to take a lot of chip damage from repeated Bullet Punches before Reversal could finish her off. It's the same with Leon. As much as I hate Leon, he absolutely could have crushed Ash if not for plot armour. Cinderace has Libero and Scorching Sands so if Leon had used Max Quake after Gigantamaxing it, Ash wouldn't have stood a chance. Even if, by some miracle, Pikachu managed to beat a Ground type Gigantamax Cinderace, Charizard would have wiped the floor with him. The writers literally made Cynthia and Leon weaker just so that Ash could win. In-universe, the only explanation for Leon is that he got cocky and the only explanation for Cynthia is that she was going easy on Ash because she was bored of winning all the time. If they'd actually been taking him seriously, they would have crushed Ash easily. Cynthia's Spiritomb wiped out half of his team and was laughing at him as it did so.

Second only to Cynthia topping (figuratively and literally) the rest of the lot
