I have an HD5G track loader that I have that project going on with. Steering clutches are the same between 5 and 6. Nice video‼️

Excellent video, I’m tackling my newly acquired hd6 steering clutches in the spring, mine are a lot rustier looking then yours though. Mines been sitting 10 years

It always amazes me how you guys know how to do this stuff. Unless I have a video walking me through the process I'm useless at wrenching.

I have bought more old stuff I had no idea how to fix and now I have a stable full of working equipment, not the least of which is my HD6G that I got cheap because the main clutch was out of it. I had never worked on any heavy equipment before that.

Cant wait till part 2. I'm pulling both my clutches out of my HD5G here after I finish my dam build. My HD5G has a HD6 rear on it so it's exactly the same as yours. I'm going to order my clutches and whatever else I need from general gear in Idaho. Quick question about the side access bolts you removed to get the pins out, did you just reach thru with a long bolt and punch them out? If not what did ya have to do? Also are you going to be replacing any bearings or seals inside on the clutch cage housing(the part that press against the clutch to disengage the clutches?

I had to replace the rear end bevel gear and transmission on my hd6

I’m having problems with my steering clutches after burying it in my pond, I really hope I don’t have to get this far into it. I tried cleaning them out with gasoline hoping they will work

Didn’t have to remove anything, tightened the brakes down, tied back the levers and stood on the brakes popped the clutch and broke free. Buried under water for over 3 months and this machine still runs like a champ
