My Virgin Kitchen is a KZfaq channel I created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. Most uploads are how to recipe cooking videos, but some fun is had too on Sunday Funday when anything goes, including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, food gadgets and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let me know! I try my best to reply to as many comments as possible, but please interact with eachother and be respectful :-) #barrylewis

Lonely God, 浪味仙 (Lang-Wai-Sheng), the sweet crispy potato twist, the Chinese name brakes down as below: 浪=wave 味=flavor/taste 仙=fairy So the proper translation should be Wavy Flavored Fairy... The English words 'lonely God' puzzled the hell off of me as well. And I'm Taiwanese...

The only problem with the jerky that you' eh thought was awful was that 1.) they were from a convenience store and 2.) if you were to buy the jerky in Taiwan when it's been freshly made it'll have a much softer texture . But other than that it was nice seeing Emma in your video and what people who aren't used to Taiwan snacks to see what they thought of them ! Hope what I've said is useful and that if you were to go to Taiwan in the future to taste the ACTUAL jerky that we have to offer, I guarantee that you'll like it a lot better !!!!

The contrast is so much better on your video than Ashens's - you can actually make out that Emma has a body!

The Chinese name for Lonely God is 浪味仙, which translates literally to "Immortal of Unrestrained Taste", but from what I've read up on Chinese websites, they chose lonely because it sounds similar to 浪味 (Mandarin pronunciation is "lang wei", both 4th tone; Taiwanese pronunciation is "long bi", both long tones)

I've got a little insight for Emma, pescatarian ˌpɛskəˈtɛːrɪən/ noun a person who does not eat meat but does eat fish. "no red meat, my family are pescatarians"

Yes, the jerky is terrible. This Taiwanese agrees. The stench is something you never quite forget even after becoming a vegetarian... Guessing it might have been impossible to send some items due to refrigeration issues, but there are some drinks and snacks that I'm surprised were not sent. First being the pineapple cake (not actually a cake), and second being the ever popular flan. Drink wise, there is definitely the papaya milk, and then the 99+ assortments of tea to try out... ...We're a nation of foodies. It's impossible to deny that. Glad that you enjoyed some of the snacks out of the selection available! :)

I got some taiwanese sweets from the asian supermarket a while ago. They were sour apple flavour and they were like the gummy sweets from dolly mixture only bigger! It's safe to say taiwan does good sweets haha! :)

I feel like those snacks didn't do Taiwan justice... we have tons of other snacks that are wayyyy better than the ones you received! The BRAND also makes a huge difference. Nonetheless, very happy to see you guys trying out some food from my home country. =D
