Barry has been sent in a lovely box of treats to try from Peru and asks his good chum Ashens to join in. Most of these were really nice indeed, which is quite a change for Stuart to try particularly!

My Virgin Kitchen is a KZfaq cooking channel created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. I upload 2 recipe videos per week, but some fun is had too on Sunday when it is Funday where anything goes....including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, kitchen gadget testing and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let me know! Is it mad that Barry went to Morrison's to search out that Curry and then I seen a Morrison's staff member putting Vaseline on and then round the next corner a giant Vaseline Gift tub. Then link that to Barry's Giant foods. Remarkable.

In (brazilian) portuguese the word "peru" means turkey (the animal) and also a nickname for the male sexual organ. As a History teacher is difficult to teach about Peru for 6th graders. Ashens saying in the begining of the video "I thought you said some perverted treats" reminded me of that.

As peruvian and big fan of Ashens (and Barry in barshens) this was very pleasant to me but the cream huancaina it's much, much, MUCH better as a made in home thing, i love huancaina, usually it's eating with boiled potatoes or with spaguetti in red sauce.

Just to let you know that I had a special edition Clanger during the week from Gunns Bakery. Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce for the main, and mincemeat for the pudding. I think you need to do another roadtrip to taste it, as it is blooming amazeballs!!!

I've only recently been introduced to the Barshens empire but you guys are really very good and I've enjoyed binge watching a lot of your works. The tasting ones that you both do together are some of the best, try to do more of them if you can, perhaps a much larger one involving the entire Barshens' team, that could be very very funny.

Not seen the film yet, though I do watch Barshens from time to time and I have seen Stuart pop up in a few other collabs. It doesn't shake this feeling though lol. It's like when you are used to a television continuity persons voice, and then see what they look like, and it just doesn't fit!

As a bit of info, Wong is actually one of the biggest supermarket chains in Peru so that's probably where the turron was bought, loads of other great Peruvian things to try as well like chifles (banana crisps) and aji Amarillo (Peruvian yellow pepper that's often eaten in a sauce form similar in consistency to huancaina)

We call these corn nuts in Canada those Inca corn and I’m pretty sure they are the same. There are a lot of flavours of corn nuts here in Canada.

Mr. Barry, I believe you should do a series of "Trying Recipes from around the World" or some such. Where you cook recipes sent to you by your viewers. Homemade candies/cookies/appetizers/entree's, etc., well known in the particular area the viewers send them from.

pu kahn is how it should be pronounced. its a southern tree and that's how its pronounced in the south.

DarthZ01 Pretty sure they're the same as tortilla chips. We usually get yellow corn based chips in the UK though I did recently get a purple bag that a brand called.Old El Paso has recently started selling here under their Restaurante range.

Why didn't they send you "Chicha marada" (black corn and pineapple juice" or "Inca Cola" (Alongside Iron Bru, this is one of three fizzy drinks globally that are still the number one soft drink, over Coca Cola)? They are both amazing, abd go really well with all of the gorgeous meat-based dishes from Peru, such as "Lomo/Pollo Saltado" (beef/chicken, mixed with rice, onions, and chips, with a spicy sauce) or "Pollo la brasa" (the BEST roasted chicken and chips you'll ever have in your life). Please excuse the spelling mistakes on the Spanish names!
