In this video we look at how to work with profiles in INAV. There are two types of profile: control profiles and battery profiles. These can be used to change settings based on the battery you plug in, a switch position, or manually set via stick commands. You can even change control profiles based on data from your flight controller via the programming tab. For example having different control profile based on your speed.
Most people will likely only need the battery profiles. Chances are that you may want to fly with different chemistry batteries, different capacity batteries, or different cell counts. If so, using the battery profiles is the best way to set this up.

Great! I tested today my 3 bat profile settings for automatic adapting to 2S3000 Li-ion (long flights), 3S800 (light setup) and 4S850 (oempf with over 5G in loops) settings on my ZOHD Dart 250G. Works great. 👍 I did set the 4S to 0.8 throttle scale to get roughly the 3S performance and not to burn my motor. The 3S settings for autolaunch, cruise thr and autolaunch idle settings in 4S are also scaled down to 3S performance. Nice. Learned now how to use for each bat profile my own PIDs profile. Thanks for explaining these INAV options 🙂

@@MrD Thinking: it seems there is no OSD indication which battery profile is active. But if I combine the profiles 1/2/3 with the bat profiles 1/2/3 as you explained... I do have the OSD profile indication to show the status of my bat profiles... But in that case if I do a PID tuning in one bat profile... well, I have to do 3 autotunes anyway...
@MrD
@MrD Жыл бұрын
@@ApappieK yes, there is no OSD element for the battery profile. Only the control profile. Autotune settings will be saved in the control profile, not the battery profile. There wasn’t thought to need a battery profile OSD indicator as it will be automatic or need specifically changed with stick commands (this should show a system message). Whereas the control profile can change in flight.

@@MrD Clear. No need for a OSD battery profile indication.

I havent seen a video of u flying a plane using a twin, x20, as in pov showing on the transmitter showing us how it handles🤔
@MrD

I don’t make videos like that. I have seem plenty of quad videos with the sticks in shot. But I really don’t see the benefit. I think seeing the sticks is only really helpful if you’re trying to show how to perform a manoeuvre. Just having a video of sticks with a plane flying will not convey how the gimbals feel or anything really helpful. I use the TANDEM X20S for all my LOS planes, and the gimbals are excellent. Especially the ability to rotate them. I thought that was a gimmick. But it really has helped. The TWIN X Lite I use with my quads. For such small gimbals, they are good. That transmitter is also really convenient for travel. So I may also use it for gliders, as it’s less to carry up the slope.

HI ! Something was spoiled in firmware 6.1.0 for FC F405SE. At the default setting for 5 inches, I have a rotating Quad in the setup tab. On the sensors tab, the Gyroscope values randomly change with the maximum amplitude.

If you have an issue, it’s best to raise it on GitHub kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nd6RlMuqyte-c2w.html If you have a GPS and this is on yaw. Don’t worry about it. Until the GPS is moving, it has no idea of heading. Also if it’s trying to get a fix, it will be picking up random positions all over the place. These can start at 0, 0, which is on Africa.

Hi. Very informative vid. Is there way of setting different throttle expo for different batteries? I've created two batt profiles but I noticed that throttle expo stays the same.
@MrD
@MrD 2 ай бұрын
Throttle expo is not part of the battery profile. Maybe it should be. It would have to wait until INAV 8.0 to be changed though.

would you really recommend running the min cell voltage for a lion pack at 2.7 like you show in the video? I'm just switching from lipo where I had it set to 3.6 (conservative I know). I was thinking it should be something like 3.2 per cell? Maybe I'm way off?
@MrD
@MrD Жыл бұрын
2.7v would be the absolute minimum. After that, the voltage will drop quickly. Warnings around 2.9 - 3.0v are fine. If you land at 3.2v per cell, you have a fair bit of capacity left. I tend to land at 2.8-2.9v per cell, if I get to the end of a LiIon pack.

Darren I fly with 2 different batteries 4s 5200mah lipo and 4s 7000mah lionpack, when I switch battery profiles using stick commands in the feild sometimes plane won't arm, osd says battery proof switch flashing on and back off. I have to go back in with stick commands and change this proof switch from yes to no or vice versa. I did read article in github on battery profiles but seen no explanation? I'm sure you can explain this. Thanks for all your help over the years.

Ok thanks for your help can't fly now due to weather but when I can I'll try and screen shot the osd message but it pops up on screen then gone pretty quick. But using stick commands the options for proof switch is yes or no, I just switch back and forth until plane will arm. I have no idea what the purpose for this is? I running the latest opentx and inav 6.1.1

Hi there could I possibly please pick your brain for a second setup speedybee f405 wing in inav all was fine dud a dry run setup on the bench before I went to put it in plane , once in plane lost rudder servo movement, what do you think 💭 do as I have gps on it need a gps fix before servos move or you think bad solder? Thanks 🙏
@MrD
@MrD Жыл бұрын
No, you should be able to use all control surfaces without GPS. Especially in manual mode. You won’t be able to use navigation modes, but it should drop down to acro. I would check in manual, and try the surfaces. The next thing I would check is the wiring. If the servos are on plugs, try a different servo on the rudder output too.
