Many inexpensive treadmills have 96vdc, brushed, permanent magnet motors. You can find used treadmills pretty cheap.

Very interesting. I have two pretty much exactly the same motors (without the flywheel) I use a full wave bridge rectifier and capacitor to run it off of mains ( mine is 110 volt) I never thought about trying it as a generator... I'll have to play in the shop... To be clear its generating AC voltage right?

Ok.i messed around with mine last night. Attached my drill @ 1700 ish rpms was getting 46 volts DC, I have 2 other wires on my motor that I believe are insignificant. Awesome video I never knew these produced so much power.

If you connect the front (by the flywheel) to a smaller motor(drill) that has a planetary gear system, if you could power the motor and have extra power for other devices. Maybe connecting a few capacitors in series, then in parallel to ramp up the voltage.

stick fan blades on it turn it into a wind turbine ? low rpm = 5 to 12v high rpm = 30 to 80v depending on use

I have a small 12v DC motor. I have a dual battery w. Inverter through isolator from main battery in my van. I want to use the 12v dc motor to charge house battery. How or what do I use so it will come on and shut off when it reaches proper voltages. Ex: cuts off at say 14.0v n starts at 11.7v

The drill can actually run on ac or dc but an inverter would be needed if you only want AC

Yes, it easily could. With right ratio to create enough rpm:s to get more than 48V, that is. So, big enough wheel turning small treadmill motor wheel.
