Totally awesome video. Followed your lead here and replace my censor and everything works like its supposed to. One thing to add though if you take the salt cell generator to a local Leslies Pool Store they can check and tell if it needs to be replaced also. This can save a lot of money if you're like my wife is and wanted to replace the whole thing. Total cost of my repair was $42.00. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video.

Experienced the NO FLOW problem last week and, with a little research, discovered what I needed to do with the help of your video. My pool installer wanted $200 for the part. The local Leslie's wanted $100. Found one online from Southeastern (?) for $35 including the shipping. Back to normal. Thank you. I owe ya cold one...or two.

I to have the same problem with no flow warning. But my question to you if you can answer is “did you have no suction and did your pool cleaner not work at all”? Cause that’s my main problem along with no flow warning.

Thanks for the video. Question the communication plug on my salt cell is somewhat damaged. Can it be repaired or replaced without buying a new cell. Thanks Steve

Replaced the switch per your video. Cleaned salt cell, filter, baskets, etc. Pool is balanced correctly with salt at 3100. Pressure is strong and pump is running. Still have the no flow error message - anything else I could try?

I have this same issue so I may buy a new switch. But I also put 160 lbs of salt in my pool last night because it was reading 1400 ppm. I ran the super chlorinator overnight (did nothing probably because of the no flow chlorinator) and it's still reading 1400 ppm today. Any ideas why it didn't go up? I have the identical system that you do.

Hi Tony! So I ordered a Hayward flow switch like yours from Amazon on the 12Th of this month. It may not get here til the 18th. Pool still looks good today, 14th. Doesn't show it has even been shipped yet. Any suggestions on how to maintain pool until switch gets here?

First, gets good water test. If everything is normal then just keep the pool circulating like normal and you should be fine. Recheck if there is a heavy rain or you have a lot of people swimming. Basically, treat it like normal but keep an eye on your chlorine levels since your chlorinator isn’t working for now.

Hi Tony, our Hayward pro logic aqua plus control panel has no display, it’s completely blank. I am able to control it using a remote control.

I changed the flow meter and it still says no flow. I took it out and closed it and it still reads no flow. I think the board may be fried?? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ idk. What do you think ? Do you know of a way to test the board??

You can leave the sensor in and the pump will run. However, a bad flow sensor will not trigger the chlorinator to kick on. Basically all you will get is filtration but no sanitation.

Thanks for the vid! So I'm clear does the "no flow" condition mean there is no flow going through the chlorinator or just a bad sensor reading the flow?

Physically (in my case) there was actual flow. However the flow sensor had gone bad so the chlorinator wasn’t being told to turn on

any suggestions mine is telling me salt low, but I had it tested and they say its at 4100ppm and the air tem is reading 31deg , pls respond

I’ll be honest, I’ve not had much of a reason to dig into anything like this. I do know that in my setup, I received a troubleshooting manual (from the manufacturer)...I’ll have to look through it later to see if I can find anything. Mine often says salt too low (even new). Digging around, I found this was common and therefore I’ve always tested independently (test strips/pool store). The temperature thing leads me to believe that the temp sensor may be bad. Again I’ll have to dig out the manual to see if I can find anything. If I do, I’ll let you know.

I have the same Hayward control panel and even after replacement I’m still getting a no flow error code. The sensor is turned correctly as indicated by the arrow.

Turn the sensor (reverse the arrow) and try again. I’ve seen several folks say this fixed their issue. I’m thinking it is a manufacturing error.

Hi Tony great video; now the same exact part from Amazon will run you $92 bucks; but no surprise; the surprise was I did everything per your video which was quick and easy but I still have the same Chlorinator off no flow light on; and this is after running for 2 hours after repair; I have three arrows showing the water flow and I have it going the right way; any idea why I still have the no flow indicator message on? Of course I also turned the system on and off several times hoping it message would go away; but it hasn't; any idea what's wrong? thank you

You confirmed the importance of buying the Hayward switch vs. the cheaper one, and that it is significantly cheaper directly from Hayward on Amazon not the local dealer.

Absolutely! The dealers are out to make a (markup) profit. I always try and buy from the source, when possible.

Yep, and I try to support local dealers especially when they offer additional services/support, and their markup is reasonable. They have overhead, etc, so anything over 100% is unreasonable to me!

We always use local, when we can. My wife even called a local pool store and their prices were outrageous! Around $300 for this repair (if my memory serves correct)...all for a 15 minute job.

I realize that you indicated that there is another more detailed video dedicated to cleaning the Hayward Salt Cell also using muriatic acid. However, in this particular video you mentioned pouring MURIATIC ACID "DIRECTLY" into the salt cell which is incorrect. When using the Hayward Salt Cell Stand (or otherwise), the correct procedure calls for connecting the salt cell to the stand & then to mix a 4-1 ratio of water to the muriatic acid by putting the water into a pouring container & then carefully adding the muriatic acid to the water at the 4-1 ratio. Once complete, SLOWLY add the water/acid solution to the salt cell and allow it to sit in the cell to breakdown any deposits in the cell. Let stand for about 15 minutes until no deposits remain. Empty contents safely. I usually pour the remains right into my pool since that's what it is .......salt water & acid :)

Is the pump not on at all...meaning it is not moving any water?

If the pump is not moving water you will also get this message. If the pump is not on and not moving water (not running at all) check power to the pump (breakers and any fuses in the panel). If the pump is on but not moving water it may have lost its prime and you will need to prime the pump and then turn it on.

@@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO The pump is not on at all not moving water, Last week it said low salt, I added salt increased the chlorinator to 90% it was on 45% the pool was clear no issues, then it just stopped, Got that message, order part you suggested, also changed the filter , added water to filter and it did not go on, so I changed the cell, ( added water to that also ) could it be the motor, I hear the click when i hit the filter button, ( I have the same as you aqua plus ) but would i get a message about the motor not a flow issues,

Sounds like maybe a pump issue. You will get that no flow issue if the system “thinks” it’s pumping water, but isn’t. It only knows that it is not getting a voltage change (water moving past operates the electrical circuit ) at the flow switch. Make sure all breakers are on. Make sure there are no obstructions at the pump (turn off power before checking). If all this check out, it could be a bad capacitor or a faulty pump. Let me know what you find.

I recommend just using the information from that listing and compare prices with others on Amazon. Without researching, I’d buy this same one again (even at the higher price) because I know it works for my setup. I had heard the price has gone up (even more than what you indicated) during the “COVID shortages”.

Not necessarily. My chlorinator is off with cold temps. Chlorinator off and “no flow” have different meanings with this setup
