You only need a push button to start the engine. Having the toggle button uses battery power. You have to hold the push button down for about 5 seconds before you get ignition. I'm not sure what RPS it starts at, I've converted mine to RPM and the engine starts at 30 RPM. After 30 RPM it becomes just like all the other engines where it no longer requires an on signal.

Can confirm push button does work however the engine was meant to be controlled by toggle as per the example

I found that my battery would continue to drain until I turned the toggle button off. And it sounds a little better once up and running.

the compressor only needs to be powered on a jet engine until it starts. once it is started it is a self-sustaining engine by the use of fuel once it fires. so the PID is still necessary to control the throttle. Also, I found no need for a clutch using this method.

Well, now I know how to control my engine rps with the pid :) I didn't really know what numbers to set the pid to so didn't work that well. But, now I can continue with my build. As soon as I planned my logic for my electric/diesel electric drive of course.

I found that using the jet as a power source for generators was that i had to eliminate the actual thrust of the engine using the flaps on the afterburner. Using this at value 1 means that there is no thrust.

I built a plane with 3 jet engines, one in the middle and one on the wing on both sides. if i use only the middle engine the plane works fine, but if i start up the ones on the wings the plane goes full fidget spinner mode. All PID´s for the jet engines take inupt from the same throttle lever. Has anyone an idea why it doesent work like its supposed to?

So you can make a helicopter turbine, jet with afterburner (can you go faster than sound?) etc. by adding components? Cool! All of engines stated above are fuel hungry, best efficiency have jet engine (two flows of air), for subsonic speeds Also can you make turboprop? Jet turning propeller in front? Best efficiency and power for low speeds

Ok in the patch 0.4.30 The I just ran an engine at full throttle and the rpm took a solid 20 minutes till it went over 200 and blew up so i think that PID you did was for 0.4.29 when the Eurofighter template was broken

How about the large intake? It seems like it takes too much power to let the engine get up to full speed but Im not sure how to increase that

u need to connect a gear box to the engine at the power with the arrows pointed at the engine and set the gearbox to 3:1 (thats the max power)

I tried to upgrade one of my ships with 4 of these engines just for power production but I still had battery draining to zero and the jet engines parts seem not to be watertight. Now I have 8 diesel engines instead of my initial 4 diesel but still losing battery. Perhaps a rewiring is in order. :) Great upload by the way. Thanks for that.

They're attached and wired to the generator but I guess it must have been a gremlin. I redid the hole thing and now it works. Either it was a weird bug or I don't really know. Thanks for the input. Cheers

Is there a way for the PID controller to be more aggressive? Lets say the RPS gets over the value that is being sent to the Setpoint, And the PID controller instantly sets the value that is being sent to the Engine to 0

OHHHH NVM when you use the big intakes its different, you should do a separate vid on that, PIDs are hard :( or just give the values here

not sure. you might want to hold down your push button for a longer time. 5 seconds should do.

hey i need help since your a pro, i've been trying to build a boat but there is always water in the hull and i can never get it float. Ive made my superlight but then it just tipped over and i tried working ontrying to keep it afloat and perfectly balanced and it just never goes right. Do you have any ideas why and how I can solve it?

Make sure you have no holes in the hull and seal the top deck too. If you want to make a bottom deck than make a shell inside the hull but make sure it doesn't touch the sides.

probably not a problem with the engine itself. might be loosing batt or fuel slowly making it run worse.

you do if you want power from the jet itself but if you want to just usea prop with not exhaust than you can connect the rps to the prop area@@agentmufinka8166
