as a 3.5e player the reason he has natural attacks and such high strength is because half-fiend was a template that could be added to creatures or characters that always gave them a pair of claws and a bite as well as a large boost in strength.

Sounds like "the Realm" is a domain of dread. "You have godlike powers, but your son is corrupted by absolute evil, and your powers don't work on him. Also Tiamat and Llolth are gonna show up every once in a while to torture you all. I decided a long while ago that "The Realm" is a demi-plane. Which explains how so many people and creatures can come and go between it and many other worlds yet no one can leave that the demi-plane wants to keep. They couldn't go home because Dungeon Master needed them there. Which is why he pulled them into his demi-plane to begin with.

@@jacintacapelety9600 Yep. The really interesting thing is the presence of Tiamat. She only has/had two avatars which limits where it could be connected to either Dragon Eyrie or Avernus. Crackpot theory but I think it was created by Dungeon Master and Tiamat entered it while trying to make her own demi-plane from Avernus so that she could have a domain away from the eyes of Asmodeus and ended up catching the attention of The Nameless One.

Maybe created by the Dungeon Master to contain the influence of the Nameless One? Or something set up like a sort of drain catch at a weak point in the fabric of the multiverse, to catch beings trying to travel to new planes? Might explain why Tiamat and an avatar of Lolth are there
@AeronHale

That would actually make a ton of sense. If so then would the Dungeon Master maybe be a guardian that's been appointed by The Realm's creator? If so that could explain why he has such odd restrictions on his powers.

A lot of people think that the movie Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves is the first D&D media that the D&D cartoon show protagonists Hank, Eric, Presto, Diana, Shiela and Bobby have appeared in since the cancellation of the show, but the truth is, they appeared in a single D&D comic book published by TSR, Inc in January 1996 called "The Grand Tour", and in that comic book, Presto is taken on a brief time travelling tour with Elminster Aumar. And in the game Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, there are some portraits of the kids somewhere in Waukeen's Promenade in Athkatla that hint that the artist of the portraits believe that they have been killed by the Forgotten Realms variant of Tiamat. Since they appear in Honor Among Thieves, which is set in the same decade as Baldur's Gate 3 and more than 100 years after The Grand Tour and Baldur's Gate 2, it's obvious now that they are still alive, and most likely used a time travel spell Presto learned from Elminster to escape Tiamat.

However, there are also IDW comics with these same characters, where they're still teenagers but they hopped on a Spelljammer and ended in Forgotten Realms. Even though the cartoon aired on TV in my country, I didn't know a spec about DnD. I don't even remember how old I was, only is that it was on somewhere between 1995 and 1998. Couldn't get on time to properly watch, so the plot always eluded me, but for some reason Venger's design really stood out to me to the point that I was able to remember his bloody name throughout the years without really knowing anything else about him. My jaw literally dropped when I saw him on the cover of a new book, and I was like "No fucking way they're bringing him into the game!". I never saw that Warduke guy (probably because I couldn't watch the show consistently), so I thought this was some sort of a generic death knight guy with some cool visuals. Honestly, I don't mind such a "lift". Even if he ends up being different, I feel that his concept is so old it wouldn't really hurt.

Funny thing about the arcane fire being eldritch blast: when d&d 5e got a finish version they called eldritch blast velhotuli whitch means wizard flame and there is no direct translation for arcane in finish so they most likely directly translated arcane fire into the eldritch blast of finish version of d&d 5e

It's definitely canon that venger is ultimately redeemed and reunited with his father. Also the coolest thing in that show was the music. Totally pulled me in as a child.

They do also have images depicting the protagonists of the show in PHB, if I'm not mistaken. It's likely just a throwback for nostalgia, but if they do add a Venger statblock, the 5e equivalent of his "arcane fire" will likely be "arcane burst." They have begun to give some version of that to a majority Spellcasting NPCs as their basic spell attack... and it does pretty much function as an Eldritch Blast for NPC spellcasters.

"If their *parents* watched cartoons back in the 80s" Sir, I do not know why you made this unprovoked attack on me, but I now need to roll 3d10 psychic damage. Right after I take some ibuprofin for my back... Jokes aside, good video! I loved this cartoon as a kid, even had the Tiamat toy they released for it, even though I wouldn't actually play D&D until 35 years later. Maybe we can talk WotC into an X-Men'97-esque revival for it.

1:43 the DM grants them each a legendary weapon that allows them to go 1 v 1 w/ effing Tiamat, Lolth, Skeletal warriors; the things the kids from a damn carnival had to face *and beat* were astounding. OK, they always tied w/ Tiamat until they faced her in Avernus where the same weapons had even greater power. loved that show.

I think is crazy enough that there is an avatar of Lolth in the series, knowing who Lolth is after you explained to us, but that was a cartoon series from the 80's Another thing piece you forgot to mention, may be the realm doesn't know where it actually is, but a godling (i don't remember who it was) said that there are places that is unknown by the gods. In the case of the realm, it could be something not known by many of them

On the topic of the cartoon characters being able to enter the Forgotten Realms, it's quite possible that according to WotC's current canon, they are already there. The party from the DnD cartoon makes an appearance in Honor Among Theives as one of the other groups in the High Sun Games.

The kids have been in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting since 2nd Edition. In a single comic book called "Grand Tour of the Realms", which reveals the kids have grown a few years older (Bobby the barbarian is in his pre-teens in that comic book), Presto gets taken on a time traveling tour with Elminster hoping he would teach them how to get back to Earth. And in the video game Baldur's Gate 2 Shadows of Amn, there are portraits of the Hank, Eric and Presto that can be found in Waukeen's Promenade, and the portraits reveal that Hank, Eric, Bobby, Presto, Sheila and Diana were recently killed by the Forgotten Realms variant of Tiamat. As you already may know, that turned out to be false, the kids are still alive, AND MORE THAN 100 YEARS LATER INTO THE SAME ERA AS BALDUR'S GATE 3 AND THE MOVIE "HONOR AMONG THIEVES". How is that possible? Recall that Presto learned how to time travel from Elminster. He likely uses that spell to help him and his friends escape from Tiamat into the future, into the 5th Edition era, which would explain why everyone acquainted with them in the 2nd Edition time frame think they are dead.

I saw Venger in one of the missions in Idle Champions game, some time last week I noticed it, and was thinking how weird name it is and where it comes from. Huh, so it's from the same cartoon as Presto, Dungeon Master et al. The cartoon never aired where I'm from, and I started playing D&D in my thirties, so all this lore is quite new to me.

Given my country has always had a tendency to have its modern TV be whatever was modern 20 years back in America, I actually watched that one when growing up - not on par with Tom and Jerry and the like, but damn, this brings back memories. I didn't even know what was DnD for over 10 years after watching it, and I'd have not realized it was related - or maybe even remembered it - if not for your video, amusingly enough. It was the light arrow bow that I probably remembered most from the show. :D

So-- Night-Mare name is Night-Mare, and might not actually bet a Nightmare. He's a flying black horse creature that shoots fire- Nightmares dont shoot fire normally? But more importantly- this was mentioned a year ago by Chris Perkins in a D&D video but it was also talked about on some forums that seem to be gone now. I tried the wayback machine but I cant find it. I know the 3.5 book just calls it a Nightmare though. Also, Warduke was in Wild beyond the witchlight as well as the evil Wizard Kelek. Also- what do you mean your parents might know? I used to watch the show. . . oh god- I- I'm old...
