As somebody who has played Tower Unite A LOT over the years it's not that it's dead it's just that the community is small and people are constantly coming and going. You see a lot of the same people, and then some regulars (like myself) disappear for a few months and then come back. Always updating, always growing, always a favorite. Glad you checked it out, hope you come back again sometime!

I'm pretty sure the last nail in the coffin of Boundary was the devs and the publisher split and there was legal issues and just a giant mess in general

Man, what a wonderful gaming experience you had. Might have to play more of these "dead" games if these are the kinds of people that can be found. Reminds me of when I was young and had the best of times with randoms on Gary's Mod, Halo, and Battlefield. Nowadays, I just play with the same group of friends and don't really interact with others besides being called various slurs and then attempting to make them ragequit.

Honestly a game serious like this where going into a dead game and challenging yourself to find another player in the game would be awsome

The thing I find the saddest about boundary is the enormous efforts thrown into its development just for it being remembered as a dead game. When I played it, I noticed so many small details that just screamed that the game was developed with deep passion. The detail that I find the most mind boggling is the fact that empty mags start to abruptly flip its orientation when the player reloads its weapon. Since the game sets in space, there’s an actual existing phenomenon called the “Dzanibekov” effect, the essence of which is that an object with a shifted center of mass when spinning in microgravity starts to flip repeatedly from one side to another as it tries to find a more stable way to spin. The fact that developers actually added this small but actually a difficult in computer modeling detail, probably tells a lot about the amount of work and love putted into this game

towers unite was originally Gmod Towers on GMOD and I have SO MANY great memories from there! I met so many neat and funny people! I also play Day Of Infamy and it has one of the nicest and best small communities ever.

Tower Unite is not dead, it never really lived, so to say. It has some influx of new players, and only a few of those people stick with the game. If you play long enough, you will start recognize people and it has a feeling of a tight community. For many like myself the main grip is the player housing the game has. It has the best in-game map editor I've ever seen. You should check out some of the Player Condos that's on the Workshop to really see what's possible with it.

I played Boundary everytime the demo was available for NextFest, and when the game is working and has a full lobby it is one of the best fps games out rn.

I know it would be a lot of work for a game that is by definition not making much money anymore, but for “dead games” that are online only, or require a server to play them, if the developers converted them to a version that could be stored for posterity, and purchased and played offline by people who still wanted to (I.e. for a game like Isonzo, they could program npc team mates and enemies for a single player experience), even if it’s not quite as good. Again I understand this would be a lot of work, and probably won’t happen, but it’s sad to see games be lost, or become not worth playing due to lack of other players.

Black Squad. It's a free FPS. Its peak was on 2017-2018 with an average of 12k players, but nowadays there are only 600 to 800, and most of the players are in the SA and SEA servers. US and EU servers are pretty much dead. I know the game is not "dead" as the other games in the video, but its sad to see what bad decisions and micro-transcations do to a game that could have been much better.

im late but let me clarify for tower unite, it was a Gmod mod way back then with about four regions with at max 8 servers each, each server had a max capacity of like 128, at most two servers would be full with a couple reaching 60 or so, so when it switched most played moved too, it still holds most of the community so when people say "dead" i hesitate to answer as its just a small community that migrated and slowly grew older. (i still think the devs should reach out to creators to invite them back) i also have not played in a while but occasionally find myself coming back

I have boundary and during the VERY short time it had players it was extremely fun and I still have hope that the game might get revived

Tower Unite is a game where there is essentially no competitive pressure between players (although rankings exist for the seven side games within GAMES). Unlike the vast majority of online games that encourage you to do whatever it takes to outperform other players in the game, TU gives players a completely relaxed playground. I don't think TU is considered a dead game, most people just don't know it yet.

Boundary was such a good game and I enjoyed the betas but it being $25 for a game that imo is worth at most $10. Its a decent shooter with a cool concept but it lacks any of the reasons to keep playing.

The issue with Tower Unite is that they have small individual servers instead of a massive one. It needs to have a ton of players in one server because of how the map is designed. So many places and activities and rooms to explore but there's no one there. West coast servers are dead most of the time and the massive world of things to do is so empty without a massive server player count.

I played boundray a few months ago, there were many people playing and i really enjoyed the game. It sucks the game dropped.

Day of Infamy was great, it was so easy and fast. Easy to learn the game and learn the maps, I had some awesome sniping spots in that game. The community was great, I think the game mainly died off when there were larger WWII games that launched like Hell Let Loose (which one of the better Military sim games, cause you can get into the action a lot faster compared to games like Squad).

Also the only reason it has so many players right now is because a sequel got announced, at SGF no less, which is massive publicity. its completely dead otherwise. Day of Infamy was great too. That game, like NMRIH, originates and can be traced back to a source mod.

If you could try marauders it'd be great, it has a really cool setting and concept, being a simpler tarkov set in space with a dieselpunk aesthetic but the game is pretty much dead with 124 players peak, wich makes me so fucking sad cuz i loved it

Another ‘dead’ game with a great community is ‘Airmen’. It’s a different game but the community is amazing.

A really fun game thats sadly also dead (although never really alive) is robot roller derby disco dodgeball Still a great choice for a group gaming night with something totally different than your usual games. Just create a lobby with 5 friends and have a ton of fun.

I was lucky enough to buy Boundary 2 week before the game absolutely collapsed. It was fun as hell, sure it had it's flaws and shit but it was honestly one of the most angaging fps I played in recent years. Sadly the development team actively refused several time to advertise their game and release it on console leading it to a premature death. They had the potential but apparently whoever was running the company was either a clown or a giraffe.

There is a game that is a charm to play, it's a bit of a chore to find and install as its a big box retail game but there is a game Called "Codename Eagle" and it's battlefield 1942 before battlefield 1942. :)

I bought Boundary then in game was a 500 players, after 450, 390, 200. I saw how this game dying. It was very, very bad. Also Depth dead like that. But from Boundary I have 3 video records. It was very interesting experience.
