When Hammer asked him if he would let him sample this Rick thought it was just gonna be a little bit, Rick was mad when he heard what Hammer did with his song, until he started getting royality checks

When he says “Temptations, sing!” that’s the REAL Temptations. His uncle was a member of the group. Rick also wrote all the instrumentals for this as well!

Rick did my poor baby dirty... My man Prince who opened for Rick at the start of Princes career Prince was BETTER then EVERYBODY and Rick was extremely jealous of Prince he even stole Princes instruments one night before Prince was to go on stage.

There was a lawsuit for copyright infringement. Hammer agreed to credit James as a "writer". He subsequently made millions in royalties.

Rick James' uncle was Melvin Franklin, bass vocalist for The Temptations. And Rick James produced Eddie Murphy's 80s hit - Party All the Time (a must see)!

I had this 45 when I was in pre-school. Never thought anything of it until the first time I heard it after I became a mom. I was shocked & asked my mom why she let me listen to this when I was 4. She said, “Did you know what they were talking about?” I said no, and she said, “So what’s the problem, then?” 🤣🤣🤣 Parenting was different in the 70’s & 80’s! 😂
