I’m getting into enhancing resins/ poly stone in general and have always wondered about doing those subtle transitions and undertones. Airbrushing is the key with multiple layers/passes it seems to be with brush and sponge techniques used for accents / aging / washes. Regarding airbrushes - are there specific attachments or nozzles that I should be using for very fine/ small area work that are recommended? Thanks for any help!

I'm getting this for Christmas and was looking for some advice, I'll be hand painting Smaug and was wondering if I should build him first and then paint or paint each part individually?

Hello there, I was wondering if all airbrushes needed the same pressure or if they vary, also, how much pressure (in PSI) does an airbrush need, is a water-trap necessary? thank you very much for your tutorials, really liked this one :3

Hi! I have appreciated very much your tutorial. You left behind only one thing that I'd like to see in a more specific way: Smaug's eyes! I'd like to see how you did them because I think that his gaze is the aspect that makes him really alive. Thanks! :)
@Madiuss8 жыл бұрын
+Laura Grossi i think you need to make his skin darker in order to make his eyes more stunning

Did you use a thinner with the minitaire paint ? if yes what is it please ?
I know this was a few months ago, but is it possible to buy the finished product from you? Or get the game and send the pieces to get painted? That would be really appreciated! Reply if it is possible. Thanks!

pretty sure that's the arkenstone. not entirely sure which piece you mean, but i'm guessing it's that

I think he's talking about the Nihilakh Oxide he drowned all the brass pots in. Not a fan of the cheap quick base painting. On a model this big and expensive, take the time to do everything at the same standard.

I am really curious why this Miniature is 500 bucks on games workshops site?
@maxbrandt67 жыл бұрын
Because it's Games Workshop! Actually, having watching his unboxing video, I know now why it's so expensive, it's cast in real resin instead of that crap they use for Finecast and it's a limited production run of just 200 models.

Max Brandt ty for clarifying
@maxbrandt67 жыл бұрын
CookieMunster73 You're welcome. I guess sometimes the pricing is justified.
@AlexBabcock-hw9iz6 жыл бұрын
Game Workshops are overpriced on everything, people need to just stop buying till they come back to reality. I understand this is a limited run but come on. And resin is a better material and using it is a bit more expensive then casting in cheaper stuff but really do you think it's a big amount in production price? Even on a model as big as this what the production price difference is what $5.00 and believe me that's being overly generous.

Ive searched the ENTIRE internet and didnt find ANYONE who painted this with a brush. Come on, airbrushing isnt fun if you paint almost the entire miniature like that
@lucasgreen31117 жыл бұрын
it wont look natural or cool if you only use brush sorry mate if you hate airbrush you cant be a good big painter in the figures world

“Miniature” ...But in all seriousness I think airbrushing is kinda cheating. Just my opinion.
@UglyDucklingCustoms9 жыл бұрын
Nicely painted... But not accurate. Smaug originally had more orange-ish tones and yellow-ish in the Movie, as well as lighter in some places. But GamesWorkshop didn't paint him accurately so yeah. Good job anyway.
@pluppmupp9 жыл бұрын
There are no exact descriptions of Smaug. Besides painting models is all about the artistic choices you as a painter make.
@UglyDucklingCustoms9 жыл бұрын
pluppmupp You're wrong then. WETA was the one who created Smaug. They released several artworks in their Hobbit artbooks and they even released a separate artbook dedicated to Smaug "Smaug - Unleashing the dragon". Lately they even released 2 statues of Smaug - a smaller one and a huge 50cm one. You can see them in their store WETAnz dot com Beside the artworks this is how Smaug really looked.
