Ms. Marvel is fucking CRIMINALLY underrated. It's a mostly light-hearted (relatively...) teen dramady, that felt like a super refreshing take on the superhero genre, in the midst of all the doom and gloom with super emotional meaningful deaths like a parent or spouse. It was fun. It was different. Iman Vellani KILLED it. I might also be somewhat biased, because I love almost anything that Anjali Bhimani is in. I actually lost my shit when I saw her.

I'll tell you what - I adored the interrogation scene with Zoe. At first it seems like her character is going to be the typical self-absorbed antagonist who thinks everybody else is beneath her. But in the interrogation scene she demonstrates that, while she's certainly self-absorbed, she's also not a bad person. As soon as she sees that they're pushing for a racial angle on it, she shuts down, not wanting to be a part of it.

Notice that until Bruno got hurt (at the 35 minute mark), Khamala was just trying to evade the ClanDestine. Then they hit her friend, and she started fighting back. We see that the Damage Control expanded from being a clean up crew of the superheroes battles in Spider Man: Homecoming to an task force chasing enchanced individuals, technologies and artifacts. They tried to arrest Peter Parker in No Way Home because of Mysterio's accusations but Matt Murdock helped him to avoid jail, but the Damage Control still got her hands in the Stark Drones that Mysterio used in his attack in Far From Home and used them against Kamala Khan.

I really love this show, one of my favorites in the MCU so far with Hawkeye and Wandavision... this is so refreshing with a real family life, real people, a girl (Kamala) who was a dreamer but never really thought about being a hero herself, but tries so hard to de good. So glad that you posted this on KZfaq. In fact, you're the ONLY reactor in my subscriptions who did not skip over this show cuz... "This is the Way!" So many other reactors skipped over this one and She-Hulk show based on the things they heard about it from the internet or their audience... which was honestly sad to see... a decent show getting skipped over due to the more vocal dislike of it. I liked the show it was fun... maybe I'm biased a little cuz I'm FROM India, and they did show some of the stuff from here accurately... like the depiction of Asian parents was so so accurate... cuz they're actually strict like that in real life too lol... and the wedding... every Indian wedding is incomplete without the mehndi (henna) session where (generally) the ladies apply moist henna on their hands and make various designs from it which stay for long... and a song n dance session, like the one in episode 3... As a person who has attended multiple Indian weddings, I can say that that is an accurate representation of Indian weddings... but I don't think my bias affected my opinion that much, the story was great, the action scenes were awesome... and overall I enjoyed it. And I'm so happy to see that you're enjoying it as well, and you've not even seen the 2nd half of the show yet (it gets so much better)!! Very much looking forward to that! Edit: Also, this scene at 16:22 was a callback to a similar scene in Avengers Endgame 💀

The only complaint I have with the series is the change to Kamala's powers, and that really only for one specific reason. In the comics, Kamala's powers are kind of like Mr. Fantastic, stretching and changing her body shape, but carried up into actual shapeshifting. And she idolizes Carol Danvers, who in the comics had recently gone from being Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel and changed her costume, her old one basically being a one-piece swimsuit. So when Kamala first gets her powers, she shapeshifts into Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel, because she declared that she'd like to BE Carol Danvers. She finds pretty quickly that this isn't all its cracked up to be, and the first several issues of the comic are basically about Kamala stopping trying to be someone else and learning to be comfortable with who she is. This is the part the spoke most directly to me. Now, I have precisely nothing in common with Kamala, being a middle-aged white guy from the suburbs, but that idea, of wanting to be able to transform yourself into someone who can do that impossible, effortless thing called "fitting in" really called out to my experience, too. I've never fit in, too nerdy, not athletic, not good at or knowledgeable about sports, no idea why certain clothes or music or TV shows are "cool." For a huge stretch of my life, I've wanted to be able to turn into someone who did "fit in," and like Kamala, I had to learn through hard experience that succeeding at being myself is way more awesome than trying to be someone else could ever be. With the change to Kamala's powers, that message seems lost, and I lament its absence. But ultimately, that's a very minor complaint. Overall, the show is excellent, and the core of what made Kamala such an exceptional character in the comics, one who surprised everyone with how quickly and how hard audiences fell in love with her, that's all still there.

This show is like the opposite of Moon Knight :) But it's so great. I absolutely love all the colors and the designs, for example when Kamala uses her imagination or writes to someone, the thoughts and words appear on posters, in reflections or something like that. It's beautifully made and a brilliant choice of whoever had this idea. And the second thing I really enjoyed are the characters. They're all so nice people. She really has the best possible friends and even the side characters like the head of the mosque are really cool people who say inspiring things.

This another great episode of the show. There is an amazing amount of music in this show that I absolutely love.I'm really digging the nods to the John Hughes films, Booksmart, Parker Lewis, Cant' Lose, 10 Things About You, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Away, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Adrian Alphona, Jaime McKelvie art design from the Ms. Marvel comics, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in this series. The twist at the end was great. I also loved the Shazam montage in this episode and the Kingo reference. Ms. Marvel's Black Widow pose was also fantastic.

I've actually heard of the Jinn (djinn) prior to this show but I know very little about them. In Islamic beliefs djinn/genies are real creatures capable of causing physical & mental harm to human beings. Like humans they are accountable for their deeds, can be either believers or unbelievers, depending on whether they accept God’s guidance. Although generally invisible, djinn are supposed to be composed of thin and subtle bodies they can change at will. One Hadith divides them into 3 groups : 1. Djinn who fly through the air 2. Djinn who are snakes/dogs/lizard/scorpion 3. Djinn who forms like human They may even engage in sexual affairs with humans and produce offspring. If they are injured by someone, they usually seek revenge or possess the assailant’s body, refusing to leave it until forced to do so by exorcism. So basically they’re invisible to humans, but they live among us, and only animals could see them sometimes. And in this series they make being djinn/ half djinn looks cool which is understandable and it’s fun but if this happened irl it’ll be so creepy hahahahah hence the childhood nightmare reference

This series works because they got the right actress, Iman Vellani, and it understands teenagers. Everything from the animation going on behind her to the Ronettes dance sequence establishes that this isn't just about superheroes. It's about character development and storytelling. The superpowers are cool, but if you can't connect with the characters, you don't have very much. Rewatching this and moving on to your 4-6 reaction. I love that the moment you get a superhero who isn't white or male, a portion of the population lose their minds - and it's usually people who probably traditionally shouldn't care about comic books. It's literally the people shooting beer cans who hate this kind of stuff. They can't stand that something wasn't made for them.

Addie, they changed her powers from the comic books, in the comic books, she inhaled Terrigen mist of the Kree blue crystals which were made of blue Kree blood, which i think was in Steve Roger's injections. making him an inHUman , and that's what the inHUmans's inhale to get their super powers. and when she did, she got the power to stretch and embiggen her body parts, like her hands or legs or feet or torso to be all stretchy like Mr Fantastic from the Fantastic Four , if you haven't watched it yet, i suggest Fantastic Four (2005)

This is a terrific first episode. I love this series was inspired by John Hughes's films, 10 Things I Hate You(1999), Lady Bird(2017), Eight Grade(2018), Booksmart(2019), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World(2010), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse(2018), and Parker Lewis Can't Lose(1990-1993). Kamala Khan fan since 2014. The music and visuals in this series are marvelous. The cinematography in this show is impressive. Iman Vellani was the perfect casting for Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. Zoe's outfit resembles Ms. Marvel's original outfit, the costume Carol Danvers first wore in 1977 in Ms. Marvel #1.

It’s funny because the actor who plays khamala who is supposed be crazy about Captain Marvel’ in real life Captain Marvel is her least favourite avenger’ and in an interview she said she actually wasn’t a big fan of the character at all’ so it must have been hard to play a character who has the totally opposite of opinion from what you do in real life’😄

We first saw the Department of Damage Control in Spider-Man: Homecoming. They were the ones who kicked Toomes off of the salvage job in 2012. There were occasional hints of "woke" sentiment, such as the crack about brown people not being allowed to be heroes, and the heavily revisionist history about Pakistan, but Iman Vellani is so charming I can overlook it. I still have trouble understanding just what her power is/does, but I generally just kicked back and enjoyed the show. I feel sorry for Bruno. He obviously has feelings for Kamala, but she's stuck him firmly in the Friend Zone. 🙄

I enjoyed this show. They did the family part very well (if the dad doesn't get to go to a Con in a costume eventually, i will riot lol). I think this show (along with some others this phase) suffered from rushed/weak villains. But other than that this is a great, fun show!

Haven't seen this show, but based on this, a lot of changes to the comics. Instead of her powers, shes more Green Lantern than Reed Richards. And Clan Destine instead of Inhumans? 😶 Well, it isnt Earth-616 (no matter how many times they claim it is), so fair enough, the Multiverse all but demands variation. Just wish they would release these shows on disc so i can add them to my collection and actually watch them.

Isn't Ms. pronounced Mizz? I think the traditional Miss was meant to mean an unmarried woman who might be a little older - back when titles didn't hold women in the best light. Like - why aren't you married and be a Mrs? With children and barefoot in the kitchen? Those days only 103 years ago.

I don’t know why it’s written Djin in English but it’s pronunciation is Jin and it’s written exactly as it’s pronounced in Arabic and Urdu. Believing in existence of Jins is a part of Islam. They’re also creation of Allah ta’la just like us humans. They live longer than humans. And there could be bad and good jins. Iblees whom you know as Lucifer is also a Jin and he will live till the end of this world.

This is Iman Vellani’s first major acting role. She heard about the auditions through her aunt. Iman originally didn’t want to become an actress, but she decided to take a chance and audition since she grew up reading the Ms. Marvel comics. In fact, she cosplayed as Ms. Marvel for Halloween a few years ago. She even got her grandma to sew the signature lightning bolt to her costume. On her last day of senior year, she got a call from casting director Sarah Halley Finn saying she needed her in a video chat. Next thing Iman knew, she was talking with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the producers and directors of the show. Kevin himself said it was a unanimous decision. In the comics, Kamala is an Inhuman who can stretch her limbs. They changed the origins and function of her powers in the MCU for two reasons: 1.) She would have been too similar to Mr. Fantastic. 2.) Her idol is Captain Marvel who specializes in cosmic energy. As an Agents of SHIELD fan, I personally have a higher appreciation for this show. It’s a bit of a bummer that’s she not Inhuman, but I’m totally fine with it at the same time. This is the MCU after all. It doesn’t always have to replicate the comics 100%. The more unique the story, the better. (Also, I wish I had a fun and upbeat counselor like Mr. Wilson when I was in high school. His motivation was something I really needed at the time.) As of now Pakistan doesn’t have Disney Plus yet, but they didn’t want anyone in Pakistan to miss out. So what they did was premiere two episodes per every two weeks in movie theaters. I first heard about the Partition of India in middle school. I don’t remember much, but I know for a fact that we also didn’t really learn much about it to begin with. Even Iman herself admitted that she didn’t know much about the Partition until she started doing her own research prior to filming. I didn’t notice it the first time I watched episode 3, but in the 1942 flashback the Clandestines were standing on top of the Ten Rings logo. I was made aware when I saw the Normies’ reaction to episode 3. Suraj and Damarin pointed it out. There’s no confirmation as to why the bangle was in Ten Rings territory, but my guess as of now is that Shang-Chi’s father Wenwu collected powerful artifacts he thought would be useful in the long run. He was all about conquering until he would meet his wife 54 years later. @30:31 That quote is directly from the comics. I believe it was issue #5 of the 2014-2015 comic run. It was even told to Kamala by her father Yusuf in the recent Avengers game. @32:24 One of my favorite scenes in episode 3 and the entire show overall is Yusuf’s heart-to-heart with Aamir. The importance of family is one of the biggest themes this show in particular focuses on. Even as Kamala aims to become a superhero, she still prioritizes her parents and brother. During the wedding afterparty, the camera zooms in on one particular partygoer clapping to the music. It’s Sana Amanat, one of the original co-creators of Kamala Khan and also one of the executive producers for this show. @33:49 First, Steve and Peggy. Now, Kamala and Bruno. Can they ever get their dance?

This show got so much unnecessary hate. Is it the best thing Marvel's put out? Absolutely not. But it's FAR from the worst. I think the problem is that Phase 4 got so much hate during its time and this show was so far deep into Phase 4's schedule that people already decided they hated it before it even aired and they never really gave it a fair chance. I'll admit, I was sketchy on the show after the first couple episodes because it felt like I was watching some teenage-based show straight off the Disney channel, but it definitely got better as it went along. And considering it's her first acting gig EVER and it's for a major Marvel project, I thought Iman Vellani crushed the role. She did a fantastic job.

Kamala's parents are great, they're overprotective, but also understanding. They're totally normal, real parents, and they're one of the best parts of the show because of it. Iman Vellani is also great, she's so much like her character, a massive fan of the MCU.

Remember where Clandestine found the bracelet because it will be important for the future. They found the bracelet in the body of a blue skin Kree which implies that the Kree were in possession of the bracelet long time ago and there is another bracelet which completes the pair which will be seen in the Marvels movie since the trailer showed the movie's Kree villain Dar-Benn wearing the other bracelet. This bracelet was also found in a temple with a Ten Rings symbol, which implies that the pair of bracelets came from the same place as Shang Chi's ten rings and both artifacts have a connection.

When I took Drivers Ed in school we had something like 6 weeks of classes before we ever even got into the car. The driving instructor went over everything in the car as far as pedals, gears, lights, emergency lights, etc... So what was that with her putting it in reverse and flooring it?
