Hey OC3D TV, I'm stuck on deciding what card to go for, I really like the Gigabyte 4090, I have an all black build my case is the corsair 5000D airflow in black, right now I'm running an i9-12900K with a 12GB 3060 and 32GB of DDR4 Planning to upgrade to DDR5 later this year, what card would you personally go for?

Always happy to see you with that shirt! That FE makes me want to build an m-atx with a NH-D15S on a cube case, but those aftermarket cards don't look that nice to me. I like the new graphs, but it's a bit hard to see which one belongs to which card, and I always have to turn my head and squint my eyes to figure that out. Vanilla ice cream is my favourite, so i'll take one, thank you very much.

Vertical graphs are cool, except that you have to tilt your head to read the text, which is too small anyway. And the graphs are far too cluttered when there's a lot of cards in there. You could also probably drop the decimals to simplify it further.

When it comes to GPU's I've always gone for the '80 ti' version, going all the way back to the 700 series, with the Titan/-90 Versions I've never been interested in what is basically double VRAM and 5-10% performance difference but for the first time ever I found myself buying a 4090, and I am absolutely how speechless how powerful this card is. This card is the first 4K true ultra high refresh rate card. and the biggest generational leap there has ever been. I might sound insane, a price offering of around £1500 UK might almost reasonable for this card. (but completely ignore the disgusting pricing on anything prices above) Most previous flagships have always been marketed as 4K capable, going back to when DSR came around in 2015 during the 900 series. But I wouldn't say until now with the 4000 series that true crank everything to 4K ultra and forget has become possible.

Great review as always Tom! Was lucky enough to pick up the Suprim X today and very much looking forward to see how it will perform in MSFS2020 with my Varjo Aero! Where I hope it will give me those last FPS in some situations to have the perfect smoothness I'm looking for. I was already able to get much closer to that by replacing my 8086K with a 129000KS a couple of weeks ago. Looks like I'll have to live on bread and water for the next few months 😂 Crazy expensive hobby but cruising through the clouds in VR makes it all worth it!

Thanks for the review matey, great stuff. The performance margins are very similar between the 3 4090s here. Think I may just grab a nice study, carefully-designed, metal-laden (and chunky looking) founders edition and not stress over an extra frame here or there. I'll take the plunge tomorrow either way. I'll have some nice fruity vapes now and pretend I'm eating ice-cream vapour : ) Cheers man!

you're the perfect gentleman who can help me out with this dilemma, I am conflicted between buying the WINDFORCE Edition which you have OR the OC version, which granted has bigger fans but the difference between the 2 seems negligible for the price point, I am from India and here taxes are all time high and the OC version costs me way more than I was expecting, but since It's a long term investment, I thought I might choose that OR if the thermals and the overclocking and the temps are good enough on the Windforce I'll go with this, So please Kind sir, help this fella out, is the price uplift worth it or should I go with the Windforce model, give me an honest to god suggestion. The problem with the founders edition is the one year warranty compared to 4 year with gigabyte.

Keep in mind it's bin lottery with these cards. You could get 10 of each brand 4090 and won't see any correlation between which brand pulls more power or higher clock speeds

I think the FE cards are binned esp. the 4090's. stock 2720mhz at 1.050mv. Stays very cool and quiet under 57.1c under full 4k load with fans under 40%. I did a UV @ 980mv + 2810mhz and +420mem clock. and got performance across the board. Stable at higher clocks with 7 degress off. Dunno if all FE 4090's are equal but mine is a beast and very lucky to have paid just 400 more then msrp 0.0... o well, i use my pc for work so worf. Good vid.

tbh most people would be sticking to last gen and the gen before that for some time, over 2k is what 2 months wages with some change left over for food lol a carers wage is just shy of a grand this day and age and financing a gpu that's what 3k ish lol, tbh i'd love this gens gpus but be some time before i bag one prob get a second hand one for half when the time is right :)

I dont think that's dual slot Guv and I think a few simpletons might be a bit confused by the statement. Also I think the msi price might have been a "safety" artificially inflated one. It'll drop to match the gigabyte instantly, if it was my money I might go msi... but each to their own.

I bought the gigabyte as it was $400 cheaper than the rest here in New Zealand. The cards weren't anywhere near $1600. The windforce was $3600 and sold out in 5 hours. It's never been in stock since. The next cards are $4000-$4600. Even when the conversion rate is 1:1.74. The Windforce is amazing. It's quiet and sleek and it has the same damn performance. It's MUCH cooler than my old 3070, even when cranking 4k, ultra Cyberpunk. The Gigabyte runs cooler than the Suprim ffs lol. What, you get 1.5FPS less at 4k? OH DEAR.

Best value for the money; best build quality; best aesthetic.... the tee-shirt. Always makes me smile and it was good to see that cartoon again.👍 Vanilla icecream? You would have that on practically the only day this month I haven't had any in. About the only vanilla I do; yum. yum! 😁

Nice review. Got a 4090 suprim. It was 200eur cheaper than GB here in Lithuania. Strange but prices are sll over the place now, managed to snag suprim for 2200eur while others that are available currently go 2300-2500eur.

Really no point going for more expensive models. FE is the best, if you can get it.

The margins are so small between all the 4090 card's it just doesn't make sense to me. Especially that the warranty on these cards range from 4 years upwards.

The price of a GPU is 539 pints of beer or 1.5 pints a day for the rest of the whole year and 5 days of no beer torture. I'm so glad i don't drink alcohol! SO NO Beer for a year at £3.95 per pint and you have your self a Suprim 4090. Probably will keep my Sapphire AMD Radeon Nitro + 6900 XT OC for a little itsy bit while longer Mr |Tiny Tom| :D

Actually I got both the 4090 suprim and fe but I guess I’m selling the Msi, because the fe just fits better in my case and I also prefer the looks of the fe for some reason. The performance upgrade isn’t high enough for me to consider.

The GPU fans (at least at stock speed curve&gpu power @stock) making less noise than high quality bigger sized(as in not thin/small) fans on a big quality CPU cooler? I know peoples ears/hearing differs*... but mine has to say kekw like hell they are, at stock("silent bios" fan curve, GPU power etc) according to Guru3D its (MSI Suprim) slightly louder/similar compared to my current GPU, 3090 MSI Gaming X Trio(at its stock fan curve etc, in their test)... and it's deffinitely not quieter than my CPU coolers fans*, even with GPU being undervolted/underclocked and GPU load temp/fan speed being adjusted so it maxes around 72°C. *Which I seem to also be sensitive to electronic what not noise or something... so the GPU fans motor or something noise makes it even more annoying, which pretty sure heard on most GPU's I've had... tho good thing Noctua has appeared with putting its full size PC fans with an Asus GPU, so hopefully next GPU I get my ears should finally for sure get some peace from damn fan motor whatever elecrtonic noise. *My CPU cooler being IceGiant Prosiphon Elite and the 4 fans on it are Noctua NF-A12x25's.
