If you are getting onto a plane and one pilot is drunk and the other is stoned do you not say let's at least replace the one that we can rather than arguing which of the two should be allowed to fly the plane? I agree with Michael regarding the important role of close family members to protect those experiencing mental decline. What are his wife and son thinking? Are they making any effort to help him deal with the reality of his situation. They don't appear to be providing him any guidance. Besides protecting Biden from embarrassment and humiliation. In addition, and more importantly, the country should be protected from a President and Commander in Chief who isn't competent enough to fulfill the responsibilities of the office he holds.

It’s as if the democrats are on a boat drifting lazily down a river. It feels comfortable and safe, but a few miles ahead there’s a huge waterfall. They still have time to change course and save themselves, but that would feel uncomfortable and disruptive. So they stay the course and keep drifting to catastrophe. This is the danger of having a winner-take-all-all electoral system. In European parliamentary Democracies, it's much harder for extremists to control the government. They usually have to form coalitions.

The deal is we need to emasculate the office, insane power in the presidency, can't we learn anything from the catastrophe of Trump? The stupidity is the election is by plurality, so third party candidates are the spoiler. We need at least a system of majority elections, over 50%, and runoffs. Its horrendous having the winner a plurality. The candidate can win with 38%, so 62 % vote against and lose.

I have the answer to your question. The Democrats have been saying Trump is unqualified and should step down for years now. The Republicans and their voters are the only ones that can kick Trump out and on every occasion they have stuck with him no matter what he has done. Also Republicans are more of a monolith party with an authoritarian approach. They don’t like dissension and will kick people out of their party for even criticizing Trump. A very authoritarian approach. Democrats are a little bit more healthy and can criticize their party leaders because they are a coalition party with many diverse view points and groups.

I also know this. I recently lost my Dad to Dementia. I remember the early stages he was exactly like Biden, and also like Biden had good days and bad days. From there his decline was rapid. Within a year he entered a dementia facility. Five years later at the time he passed he didn't know who I was, didn't know who he was, remembered nothing of his life, and had an estimated 20 word vocabulary. People like you and I, who know how this works, think to ourselves "what will Biden be like in a year or two or four?" Sadly, we know the answer to that question.

I spent about 5 years with 2 family members in dementia, and the paths were similar to each other but still different. I disagree with you .... I see dementia, very much like what I saw, in Trump, including the anger levels. Biden is old and he is in a very difficult job, getting more pressure right now with the campaign. IMHO, if in dementia, he would have already tapped out. (And, best as I could tell, every step further info dementia is a one-way step.) I wonder if his staff has given the man the down time he needs. I'm in my 70s and I don't "bounce back" like I did, even 5 years ago. Biden has dealt with traumatic world events one after another. Then add the constant pressure of the Trump firehose of lies and threats of violence to so many. He has been amazing, standing against the wiles of a man/machine who wants to fundamentally change this country. Just some of my thoughts .....

It's not his people. Audio folks who work at these events have said it's funny Biden sounds weak when the events are run through the corp media's systems, then in places like Howard Stern's interview he sounds fine. They said the lectern in front of Biden was slanted to the side in a way that caught Biden's side view, while catching Trump head on. Made a difference in the perception of Biden because he was looking down at notes while appearing to be dazed and spacing out due to camera angles. Content wise Biden won 100% and most of us know that..

If Biden remains the nominee, then it's more likely than not that Trump will win the presidency, AND (because of a lackluster down ballot for dems) republicans will control both the House (D:211 to R:224) and Senate (DI: 48 to R:52). Every political person knows this and if they are up for a 'close' re-election this year, they will call for Biden to step aside -- it's a matter of survival now.

A leading newspaper in Norway asked a bunch of Norwegian 81 year old people, previous business leaders, national sports coaches, artists, top politicians, medical physicians, architects on their thoughts on their own age and it’s relation to work and work load abilities. All of them expressed strong doubt about taking on a top position, and especially the role of a US presidency. The recurring statement was, even though I’ m still healthy and fit for my age, you get tired sooner. And in a position like Biden’s, you need to be “on» 24/7. And the responsibility is tremendous. There are certain things I don’t remember as well as before. When you are fully rested you feel almost as fit as when you were younger, but you get exhausted a lot sooner. One said, I recently went for a 10 hour long mountain hike. It was ok, but after the hike I was a lot more tired than I would have been 30-40 years ago. When it’s about executive powers, absolutely not! Another said, I used to have a very good memory, but it has drastically deteriorated. That is an area where I notice a huge difference.

The problem is that Biden has presided over the genocide, sparing no expense to strengthen a criminal apartheid state that most of the world agrees has crossed the line. You're as brain-broken as Biden if you expect people with any kind of ethical backbone to support somebody like that. The lesser of two evils is still evil. We as a nation need to hold our elected leaders to a higher standard, and that doesn't happen when we keep re-electing them. Long term consequences are worse than short term consequences, in this case.

I'm not in any party. This year, I think, marks the worst choice for president that the people have ever had -- by a wide margin. I don't want either one, and probably won't vote this time. We need a dynamic, inspirational, and charismatic -- and _competent!_ -- candidate from either party. I don't care which party. We need a new JFK, or a new Ronald Reagan (whom I didn't agree with on a lot of things, but I truly liked the man, and remember those years as the best of my life). Maybe I'm just nostalgic. But if there's any pair of candidates that would make a person nostalgic, it's Biden and Trump.

If Biden remains the nominee, then it's more likely than not that Trump will win the presidency, AND (because of a lackluster down ballot for dems) republicans will control both the House (D:211 to R:224) and Senate (DI: 48 to R:52). Every political person knows this and if they are up for a 'close' re-election this year, they will call for Biden to step aside -- it's a matter of survival now.
