I was recruited to a college that lost every single game the 4 years I would have been there. My greatest character flaw is thinking, as a mediocre offense guard, I would have made the difference.

I was a 6ft 220 lb 12 year old and completely dominated these kids in CYO football. Coaches were talking me up about playing college ball. By 8th grade I started to run into some other monsters but I was still good. By high school, I was on a team with multiple guys who went on to be Big 10 team captains and were 3x state champs in 4 years. I never grew past my 12 year old size and I played both sides of the line originally. They tried making me a linebacker and I was slow as shit, couldn't catch a ball, got the hell beat out of me on defense and quit freshman year.
@nonamesinenomine
@nonamesinenomine Жыл бұрын
Yeah that happens in sports when they typecast you as one position and you never grow ... It works in your favor when you stay out as a point guard and then grow to be a small forward but not when they put you as a center as a kid and then you don't grow so you gotta play point guard but only know post moves

I was benching 325 going into my freshman year, but I was always ass at football. They always played me both ways... D tackle and O center. I didn't have the cardio for it. I was always gassed out by the end of the 1st quarter 😂. I ended up being all conference D tackle my senior year, but I always wonder what if I didn't have to play both ways.

@@HerculesLoyd arguably swimming is probably the closest to football from what i understand, I only say that cause I know multiple people on my highschool swim team who are now very incapable of moving their arms above their heads and they all said it was due to swimming, is that a common issue in swimming??? does it strain muscles and joints that much?
@HerculesLoyd
@HerculesLoyd Жыл бұрын
@@Brandon-op9uf swimming can absolutely mess up your shoulders. That being said, I swam 8-15k yards a day 6 days a week excluding summers for 4 years. This is a stupid amount, more than a lot of olympians do (because it’s sub optimal I just had a shit coach.) Because I had good technique, I had shoulder pain but no injuries. Many people I know had shoulder surgery though. I dislocated my shoulder this year, but that was doing mixed martial arts, possibly related to a decade and a half of competitive swimming but not directly causal. Tldr: swimming can mess up your shoulders, especially if you have bad technique. To say it’s close to football in terms of injuries though is crazy, it’s not even close.

The school later started winning a lot more games when they fired the coach and replaced the offense with a system that suited the types of players coming through the school. It's funny most pee wee stars suck at hs cuz they go up against a moose that couldn't make weight and now he's desirable to a coach cuz of size

I remember me and my friend on the middle school baseball team wondering why we always sat on the bench. We thought we could make a big difference if we just got some game time. Then one day we both got on the lineup. I dropped an easy pop up in left field and never swung once at the plate. It felt like that kid was pitching 100mph fast balls. After that day I never wanted to play baseball again.

Apparently there's no irony when they talk about dorks fighting a war immediately after admitting they both don't have what it takes to risk sacrifice
