I was lucky my filter came off with just the effort of my hands, but I was fully prepared with a hammer and screwdriver!

Hahah the amount of times they have saved me either on bikes or cars. The K&N ones it’s never a problem due to that nut on top but yeah it’s always the backup plan.

Yeah it’s one of those, it depends how much you value the full service history. It’ll add value to your bike when it comes time to sell but personally I’d do it more frequently than the recommended 6k miles anyway and do it myself.

Alpha 95 il still get the bike service at the regular intervals by the dealership. I believe the service interval is 6k miles which in my opinion is a little too infrequent for me. The dealer changed my bike with semi synthetic at its first service at 600 miles. I’m sure it’s good enough stuff but with how easy this is and my OCD I thought I’d do it myself!

@@TwoWheelTorque 6k miles is crazy in my opinion but standard seems to be between 4 and 6k now. We like to do ours every 1k if possible, some of the 125cc bikes we do every 800 miles seeing as its cheap as chips and keeps the engine tip top. Only one I've neglected is an old Suzuki 600 which has done about 2100 miles since last service, probably going to get done in a week or so! It is overkill doing it that often but oil can tell you a lot about whats going on in the motor, especially if you ride them hard. Not to mention the state of motorcycles we've had come in with only 2 to 10k on the clock and the oil is a state. I was just curious what your warranty said as some of them are a bit crazy in my opinion. Definitely this video will help those who haven't done it before!

Exactly! Engine oil and filter are dirt cheap but a rebuild isn’t. Because the MT is my second bike too I probably won’t need it servicing again at 6k before it runs out of warranty 😂

David Rabauliman, hey I actually didn’t have an oil light on as I did the change a little early. I would assume it won’t though. I actually didn’t realise there was one. Does it come on when a service is due?

Its actually 6000 miles not KM but I just did mine at 4000 miles

Ah man that’s a shame. You’d need to have it re-tapped and an oversized plug put in. It’s not the end of the word but a pain nonetheless

How are you checking the oil, are you making sure you run the bike for about 10 minutes then checking fully upright? Also make sure the bike drains fully, sit on with the stand up and rock it back and forth to ensure it is all out.

Hey, the oil filter is on its side so would all leak out as you tipped it. If It was facing down that would work.

Hi mate, it holds 2.6 litres so buy 5L and you’ll get nearly 2 changes from it. Only need a 1L next time

Yamaha don’t make their own oil it’s just rebadged oil from someone else. Generally Yamaha provides a spec sheet of what their oil must meet and the contract goes to the lowest bidder. Motul, castrol etc is premium stuff, well exceeds recommendations and will offer far better protection.

hey mate i cant recall this from memory. It says in the manual and i believe on the side of the engine. I let the bike drain quite a while so it took a little more.
