@@ArtFalcon This video is so good! The photos dropping on to the screen with the camera sounds. The transitions riding on the bike in different environments. Great audio choices. Excellent usage and positioning of the text on the screen. Quick simple, easy to read due the length and size. So many things done so well! Keeps it exciting and moving. It is how a video should be made and is truly quality content.

Great review. I can read about components all day but you have a solid review of the bike performing in a bunch of different terrain with a quick blurb of how you feel it has performed. I would for sure watch more content of different bikes with the same way you did this video.

Nice to see more Chisel love! I have a 2021 with a 120 manitou machette, it really is a swiss army knife. For a hardtail, it has not missed a beat with all I have thrown at it. The harder/faster you push it, the better it gets on the trail!

Sweet review. The quality on the Specialized bikes is the best. For reference, I'm still thrashing my 97' front suspension Rockhopper. Still all original parts minus cables and housings and the wheels which I upgraded to Mavics 20 years ago. Keep it clean and lubed and she will literally last forever. I'm looking at purchasing this Chisel to replace my Nukeproof which I'm not too happy with.

Thanks man. Totally agree regarding the quality of Specialized bikes and parts. I just upgraded to a set of Specialized Roval Traverse wheels with a new set of Specialized Fast Trak 2Bliss tires and they are awesome. The Roval hubs have DT Swiss internals and can easily be serviced. Also, added a dropper post and had the bike serviced and it is running better than ever!

Hey Art - greatly appreciate your videos and this review in particular. I'm planning to pick up a 2021 Specialized Chisel (base model) at a shop that luckily happens to have one in stock in a large frame size during this crazy time of bike shortages. I'm wondering what other models you considered or tried out before deciding on the Chisel. I still have a niggling thought that a Fuse 29 (or a trail bike vs. a XC in general) might provide more flexibility for the types of trails that I could attempt. I'm a beginner trail rider, but would like something that would be a good choice for riding up to a black diamond-rated trail. I'm encouraged that you describe this as a "swiss army knife" for riding.
@ArtFalcon
@ArtFalcon 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich - appreciate you watching! I was actually looking for a Fuse but couldn't find one due to the shortage then one of my local bike shops recommend the Chisel and once I pulled up the specs I was sold. I needed versatility and this bike has done very well on everything from road to trails (including some black diamond). I think the weight and geometry of the frame make it prefect for smashing trails or just cruising to the store.

So it’s good to know it holds up to heavier riders, what are bike frames generally rated too? I’m 6”4 and 115kgs
@ArtFalcon
@ArtFalcon 2 жыл бұрын
Yup, high end frames are usually rated around 250-300lbs. Aluminum frames are usually around 300lbs and carbon frames are around 250lbs. I'm around 250lbs and have been riding this frame (fairly hard) for almost a year and it has had no problem.

Hi Stef Heligman, that is exactly what I do with mine. I usually ride some road, lots of gravel, dirt, downhill and mountain trails. Since it is an XC bike, I wouldn't try to ride it like an enduro bike but if you are smooth and take your time you can ride these on pretty much anything.

I'm OK with the front single sprocket but don't you think its just tad small for the street? I have the rockhopper elite. Its got a single and I find myself missing that extra resistance a larger front diameter could give. I swear despite it being a 29er my commuter speeds are that of a 20 inch bmx bike.
@ArtFalcon
@ArtFalcon 2 жыл бұрын
It is a little small when smashing on the road and sometimes I secretly wish it was a 2x...but I try to stay in the dirt as much as possible and that's where the single speed is great. I do like to think of my bike as a big BMX since that is what I grew up riding but sometimes I could use a little more top end.

Hello, I am 6' tall and weight 235 lbs. My Chisel is a size Large. I like my frames a little small for jumping around but the large size frame also feel very comfortable to me when pedaling. I would say if you want something that will feel more playful, get the large. If you want something to do some serious cross country or maybe racing, you might want to get the XL. Either way, I highly recommend getting a dropper seat post. Hope that helps!

How much does this bike weigh? Complete bike, not frame weight. I'm looking for a lightweight XC bike that doesn't break the bank. I also weigh 250 lbs, so I don't think a carbon frame would be a wise investment for me so I'm looking at the Chisel Comp. I'm also looking for a bike that as pretty aggressive geometry for XC racing but still comfortable enough to make long trail rides with the kids on the weekends. Does the Chisel Comp fit that bill in your opinion?
@ArtFalcon
@ArtFalcon 3 жыл бұрын
Good question...forgot to weigh it when I bought it and have since put sealant in and a few other bits on but it was very light when new. I would guesstimate somewhere around 24 lbs. Agree with you on carbon, it seems sketchy for us bigger guys and the Chisel frame is not much heavier than carbon frames! The geometry is the best part...super aggressive, built to go fast and yet extremely comfortable when just strolling along. In my opinion, it definitely fits the bill as a great, do-it-all bike.
@lancecarroll81
