Do you run Cush Core? And what pressures do you run?

i used the nukeproof ard for my hardtail front (2.6 Schwalbe hansdamf 12.5psi) and back(Continental mountain king 2.3 15psi), when I weighed 60kg or 138lbs. now I run no inserts and since I weigh over 150lbs I run 21psi in the rear (maxxis high roller) and 17psi upfront (same front tire). all though this setup is lighter, the schwalbe and continetal combo had significantly less rolling resistance although when I put the insert for the front tire, going on berms made the berms feel less exciting. on this one incline my previous set up, I was able to reach 45km/h! and that was when I had a 3x8 set up on my bike ( bike weighed 31.8lbs). With the new tire (no inserts ) setup and a 1x12 drive train on the same hill I got up to 43km/h. ( bike weighed 29.5lbs but I am heavier as well lol but I can feel a difference in the resistance between the two rear tires). i feel that the high roller has more grip than the continental when descending down a steep hill and climbing.

I had a bunch of rear flats. Just coming down hard on the rear rim; rocks, gnarly landings, etc. At $80-90 for a new tire each time, I needed to do something different. I’ve now had several bikes with Cush Core inserts and Zero flats. 17-18 PSI in the front & 20 in the back. I don’t notice any weight or performance issues.

I've been running Cush Core for 6 plus years. I run 9-12 psi in the front and 13-15 psi in the back. Both tyres are 29" x 2.6". I love the support it gives to the tyre along with the grip and damping. Wouldn't want to ride without it.

Dude you can straight up hear that jingle die in volume by like 50% when you let the pressure out later in the video. I know I am late to the party on this video but great job man, love your content.

I just removed from the front a few months after I swapped to a DH casing front. Running the same pressure as I was with it (25psi) I didn’t notice it for relatively casual rides, but I did notice it for more aggressive rides. I could feel the extra compression on the face of jumps and some roll when carving up the face of the jumps, such that it created a little instability off the lip. I am going to take the pressure up to 28 and see how it is. If it doesn’t work I’m going back to CushCore front and rear.

I have been running the Cush core pro front and rear for six years. I use them with Carbon or alloy wheels. I love running them for everyday riding. I run 20 psi front and rear. Keep up the good work buddy. 20 psi is the magic number when you run these.

I'm kind of baffled reading comments of people running 30psi, banging rims and having tyres fold. Around here its not uncommon to run 17-20psi and we ride gnarly stuff on ebikes often at high speeds. (Ofc higher pressures are in order at the bike park) What kind of tyres are people running? Something's not adding up 🤔

I run it in all my bikes its a huge difference for a big boy at 240 i notice it in the corners the sidewall suport is huge. On my tr11 i had to run at least 35psi or i folded my tire over every corner now with cushcore i run 30 and rarely fold the tire over so much more confidence. I also started running lighter tire casing with no negative issue so the wieght is alot closer.

That's a good point. I've definitely cracked some expensive carbon wheels. 😆 20 psi. Nice. I'll have to keep experimenting. I think I'm down to 22 in the rear on a 30mm internal width carbon wheel.

Thanks! After the water bottle, that was the next thing I checked. Turns out it I was right when I thought it was the cables. In the recent Aliso video, I switched to a different bar (for other reasons) and added a piece of velcro where the cables were hitting. Yeah...the Cush Core isn't cheap. But just getting one for the back wheel is a less painful way to try it out. FWIW, I was not sold on Cush Core for a long time, but now that I'm running it, I want to have it on all my bikes.

From what I gather, Cush Core creates more sidewall stability so that you don’t get squirm as easily at lower pressures. 🤘🏾

LOL! I tried so many things. And like always, the tech at the Path Bike Shop figured it out in about 27 seconds. It was in fact the cable housing and hose hitting the bar. If you check my recent Aliso video, you will notice that the sound is just barely still there. I have a different bar and I also put a little patch of velcro where the cable and hose were hitting. 😆

Hi there, I'm trying to reduce the rear tyre bulge as when the tyre compresses and bulges under load the rear is rubbing the frame at the base so to minimise that and increase sidewall support and rigidity I thought this could help if anyone with experience has any suggestions? Cheers!

I don't think Cushcore will help with that. You might need to run more narrow tires.
